This picture actually looks better as a thumbnail, but it is still very striking.
I learned something new: at the North Pole these are called aurora borealis and at the South Pole they are called aurora australis. I hope you all don't mind me posting so many pictures. I love pictures! I don't mean to be taking over or anything. |

Growing up in Northern Minnesota you would see them at least once a year in the winter time. If you were a night owl I would say bout 2-3 times each winter you would see them.

They are very magical, like an orchestra of light the way they dance across the sky.
I saw them while in the Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, in the spring. |
