Awesome advert

I'm putting this here rather than in the Funny Youtube Clips thread, because I think it's brilliant.

It's a T-Mobile advert. Not sure if you guys have come accross it yet. It's one of the very few adverts drawing on the upcoming Royal Wedding that hasn't made me gag :p Very funny.

Charlie Brooker talked about this on Thursday night.
I think he wanted to kill the people responsible.

I'm now torn and don't know what to think.
Please can someone tell me?!

DanaC 04-23-2011 06:03 AM

I got it from him :p

I didnt' get the impression he wanted to kill the people responsible. I think he reserved his most visceral attack for the news coverage.

I don't care though. Mr Brooker and I will have to disagree (for a rarity) on this :p I thought it was fucking funny.

Sundae 04-23-2011 06:06 AM

Lauren Laverne didn't agree with us about that Australian kid trying to kill the bully, did you see? It made me sad.

But yes, I really laughed at that American trailer he showed.
All those photos of Diana. Barf barf.

DanaC 04-23-2011 06:07 AM

The plastic presenter was amazing. There was literally not a single natural feature on show.

Trilby 04-23-2011 06:28 AM

I thought it was great. Loved it.

Sundae 04-23-2011 07:15 AM

I am so anal. I watched 10 o'clock live AGAIN, just to catch the quote.
Well, it's hardly a chore.

In fact it wasn't Brooker (I stand corrected, sir!) it was Mitchell.

Quote:

"So. The Monarchy. Well, I used to be a Monarchist, and then I saw the T-Mobile "Life is for Sharing" Royal Wedding dance routine viral and I realised that any institution that can induce that to exist must be evil. So I propose we get all the senior members of the Royal Family and the marketing executives of T-Mobile and machine gun them in the same cellar*."
* not likely to be this one

Now I know it's David Mitchell, I'm happy to like it again :)

DanaC 04-23-2011 07:21 AM

Hahahaha.

I love Mitchell though. I think he's marvellous. But i don't find myself as firmly in agreement with him as I do with Brooker generally.

Genius!

Thanks for posting it!

jimhelm 04-26-2011 12:26 PM

boy... all wedding processions should be like that.

monster 04-26-2011 02:06 PM

Love it. It would be Sooooooo cool if they really did that. So much fun.

DanaC 04-26-2011 04:32 PM

I think if that was what it was, I'd watch it all lol.

DanaC 05-11-2011 03:10 PM

Another awesome advert. This time from Volkswagen.

The Force:

Undertoad 05-11-2011 03:22 PM

Yunno, how great is John Williams? How fucking great is that guy?

DanaC 05-11-2011 03:25 PM

Awe inspiring.

DanaC 07-29-2011 10:49 AM

I love this advert. It's simple but effective. Way to turn an internet meme to your advantage!

DanaC 03-26-2012 03:57 PM

Another awesome advert.

This time advertising the National Lottery by showing where the money goes.

It's one for all you soldiers and ex-soldiers.

classicman 03-26-2012 08:18 PM

Good one. Kinda reminded me of a scene from "Saving Private Ryan"

DanaC 08-30-2012 05:32 PM

Another excellent advert. It's not often car ads get me, but this is lovely.

Trilby 08-31-2012 06:20 AM

One of my favorite songs, too!!!!!

wolf 08-31-2012 01:04 PM

Doesn't do it for me, despite the Brazil-ness. Pretty conventional, as car ads go, at least on this side of the pond. Maybe it's really special over there.

Sundae 08-31-2012 01:19 PM

Sorry, Dana.
Do not likey.

In fact I'd be hard pressed to think of an advert I do like right now.
Where are all the great singalong ones?

I'll get back to you on that.

DanaC 08-31-2012 01:22 PM

I think what I like about it is the depth of character in the animation. And I like the computer game setting. It appeals to me as a gamer, because it seems to be drawing on gaming tropes.

Sundae 08-31-2012 01:34 PM

And that's where it leaves me cold ;)

DanaC 08-31-2012 01:37 PM

Ha!

Wasn't there a moment during some Abba concert when a member of some royal family was dancing to "Dancing Queen"?
