Whatever is cheapest. It's hard to get here, but Natty Light is a good cheap beer.

Pam.

I come from the land of microbrews. New Belgium, O'dells, and a host of other brands flow ubiquitously around these parts. My favorite, lately, has been Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat.

I don't care for
Guinness
Heineken
Anything super bitter or dark

FishHook004 04-20-2011 06:42 PM

I just bought some dos requisite... and I was debating between that and leinenkugal... Ive never had it before but I like darker beers more... is it a lager?

FishHook004 04-20-2011 06:43 PM

Dos equis ... damn autocorrect... accessing site from phone lol

wolf 04-20-2011 06:45 PM

Favorite: Beer you can't see through.

American large batch beer is like making love in a canoe.

Aliantha 04-20-2011 06:47 PM

My fav is Beez Neez, but I doubt you get that in the US. It's very nice though. Pale and refreshing.

kerosene 04-20-2011 06:51 PM

It's pretty light, has a citrus like taste but I guess it is brewed with coriander. Their Hefeweizen is also pretty good. They make some darker ones, too, I guess. Sunset Wheat is pretty light. They make a Honey Weiss which I have heard is good and a Golden Lager. Being not very knowledgeable about beers, I am not sure what constitutes a lager, but I assume only the ones with "lager" in the title are probably lagers, when it comes to this brand.

Gravdigr 04-20-2011 06:51 PM

I can't afford beer that tastes good. So I drink to get drunk, not to enjoy a fine glass of beer.

In this order:
Bud Ice
Bud Light
Bud Weiser
Red Dog (do they still make this?)
Corona (w/a lime slice)

Beer I won't drink:

Anything else.

FishHook004 04-20-2011 07:04 PM

Haha ... red dog... that was the first beer i ever tasted... my dad let me try it when i was like 8... little did he know of my future alcohol problem lol... I don't think they make it anymore... by the way digr... I'm witchya on the ice beers... bud ice and natty ice.... extra cheap, extra drunk...

FishHook004 04-20-2011 07:05 PM

Ill prolly try the golden lager next

kerosene 04-20-2011 07:08 PM

maybe I should do a thread about beers...has anyone done that, yet? I have access to so many different types, it would take forever to hit all of them.

FishHook004 04-20-2011 08:14 PM

Yeah maybe you should

FishHook004 04-20-2011 08:16 PM

then we would have something to read about that is more intriguing than you conversations with pam

kerosene 04-21-2011 08:52 AM

Okay then.

Since we were talking about Leinenkugels yesterday, I bought the Honey Weiss last night. I'll start with that one later today.

You don't like my conversations with Pam? Come on now. I was bored!

favorites:
heineken
bass
guinness
harp
st. arnolds
fullers esb

dislikes:
lone star
anything with the word "lite" in it.
any wheat beer

kerosene 04-21-2011 09:49 AM

I guess that makes us beer opposites, doesn't it, plt?

plthijinx 04-21-2011 09:57 AM

looks that way!

infinite monkey 04-21-2011 10:51 AM

Miller Lite

Bud Light

Or whatever else ya got layin' around. ;)

Pico and ME 04-21-2011 10:59 AM

Dos Exxix when I want something fuller tasting and Blue Moon when I want something more refreshing.

Pico and ME 04-21-2011 11:02 AM

HA! I found this when I googled my use of 'fuller tasting' cuz It didnt look right to me.

FishHook004 04-21-2011 11:40 AM

Well kerosene... I guess we both cope with boredom in different ways, I post threads about beer while you engage in conversation with Pam lol... to each his own huh?

infinite monkey 04-21-2011 11:43 AM

Ha! You mean the poor foreign broken English girl who is somehow familiar with Natty Light and John from Denver?

Dude, like Natty Light is the drink of choice of some of my younger friends: they're professionals, veterans, gorgeous, and think that Natty Light is the beer of all beers.

Natural Light, to those not in the know. One of the cheapest.

(I just got an email from one of them: may drink some with them later.)

FishHook004 04-21-2011 12:01 PM

I love them nattys that's what I drink when I'm broke lol

infinite monkey 04-21-2011 12:04 PM

In college we drank Old Milwaukee Light. Old Mud, we called it. We always said "it just doesn't get any better than this." At 4 bucks a case or whatever, it surely didn't!

infinite monkey 04-21-2011 12:07 PM

In HS: Little Kings or Genny Cream Ales. The tiny bottles were cute. ;)

Pico and ME 04-21-2011 12:12 PM

Were Little Kings in high school just a midwestern sort of thing? I loved them too.

Sundae 04-21-2011 12:13 PM

I'll drink Bud if someone else is buying and that's ALL they are buying.
But it tastes like gnat's piss.

Excepting Budweiser Budvar, naturally.

My favourite beer has to be Fruli Strawberry Beer.
And I'm not one for flavoured drinks (tart fuel), but this is a white beer from Belgium, laced with strawberry juice.
It's deceptively strong, in that you feel like you're knocking back pop... then after a couple of pints it's your turn to get a round in. It's a different story when you stand up :) Trouble is, it tastes too good to drink slowly.

Hoegaarden is very nice - another Belgian white beer this time without flavouring.
It's quite citrussy.

Otherwise, in the local pubs & off-licences without a specialist selection, I'd go for Stella or Staropramen. Kronenburg at a push.

Trilby 04-21-2011 12:18 PM

In High School : Gennesee cream ale

In college : Hudepohl or Goebel (pronounced Zho-BELLE) "the beer of France" (not really)

Or Hairy Buffalo. 'Memba that?

Trilby 04-21-2011 12:19 PM

About Hudy -

Hudepohl Brewing Company became one of many Cincinnati breweries to thrive in the Queen City in the 1880s. Waves of German immigrants began settling in and around Cincinnati in the 1850s and 60s. These immigrants had a taste for the lager beer of their homeland and Cincinnati's German beer barons were only too willing to answer the demand. Hudepohl brewed golden lager, dark lager, seasonal bock beer and several other regional styles of lager that were popular in the German homeland.

jimhelm 04-21-2011 12:25 PM

Old Dog, wasn't it?

My favorite beer is Victory Golden Monkey. It's hella strong at 9%abv, and 275 calories a bottle, and $12 a six pack. So I don't drink it much.

Miller light and Yuengling light or Blue Moon and Yuengling Lager are the daily fare depending on my diet goals.

Also enjoy Yards Brewery Tavern Ale, Rogue Dead Guy Ale, Victory Yakima Glory, Victory Storm King and ...well anything strong and not too too hoppy.... although I like the IPAs when I'm actually thirsty.

Bullitt 04-21-2011 01:20 PM

Guinness when I'm out, Miller High Life or PBR when hanging with the guys playing videogames, and Mike's Hard Lemonade on summer nights on the back deck.

Not sure you could exactly call it conversation. I was just messing around.

I had no beer at the time, but I got some later, so I didn't have to talk about John from Denver and my snow house.

This stuff was pretty good. Kind of sweet and, yet seemed very flavorful. I can't tell you what those flavors were, but they went down well.

Gravdigr 04-21-2011 03:19 PM

PBR, Leinie, Little Kings.

Man you guys are bringing back some memories...

My best friend (at the time) and I found a case of Little Kings when we were about 13-14. We went to the creek and sunk 'em to cool 'em off some. Got sicker than dogs.:lol2:

FishHook004 04-21-2011 03:28 PM

Might try that tonight kerosene... not a big fan of sweet tasting beer though

infinite monkey 04-21-2011 03:43 PM

Another couple, friends of mine, a bit 'rougher' than the aforementioned friends, will drink NOTHING but PBR!

First beer I got drunk on was Blatz. It even sounds like it'll make you barf. But it's what I snuck from my dad.

kerosene 04-21-2011 04:49 PM

My husband always drinks pbr. I will sometimes, but it isn't worth swearing off all others for.

Ahhhh... the good ole Milwaukee beers. Remember Schlitz?

jimhelm 04-21-2011 06:16 PM

FishHook004 04-21-2011 06:45 PM

Just bought some harp premium lager.... very good beer... little bit of a "stank" aftertaste, but overall I approve lol

My friends bought me a Schlitz. I fell out with them.

On the regular Bud tonight, but prefer select because of the fewer calories.

My beer is Yuengling lager. It's good to have a beer that is your beer. Yuengling is yummy, not too terribly expensive, and is respectable. I have friends who are beer snobs, and they respect Yuengling.

Miller Lite used to be my beer years ago, and I got a lot of heat for that.

eff&em 04-21-2011 06:52 PM

The aussies here should agree with me that Australia has been going through this micro-brewery, boutique beer phase the last few years where beer has become less of a tradesmens hard earned thirst drink and become one of those fine things to enjoy and talk about and try different types like red wine for example.

After that boring paragraph I've put myself to sleep and can't think of anything worth mentioning.

Oh Little Creatures Bright Ale, Pale Ale and Golden Ale is a winner and its brewed here in Perth.

Feral White
Mash Golden
Fat Yak

All nice beers but what I have in my fridge now is Cooper's Clear, which is kinda average but I keep finding myself buying it..

Aliantha 04-21-2011 07:07 PM

Yep that's true. Nice to see another fellow aussie posting on the board.

Fat Yak is actually produced by the same brewery as Beez Neez. Haven't tried fat yak yet. There's just something about the name that makes me not want to. lol

I don't mind Coopers Pale Ale. It's pretty good on a hot day.

I was in the same boat up until about a year ago. I'm such a fickle boy and I didnt like the picture on the advertisements I'd seen. Then a mate bought me a sixpack and LOVED it. Give it a crack, ya won't look back..

Lite is an anagram of "Debbil: rated E for everyone". That's why.

jimhelm 04-21-2011 07:24 PM

Lite is good beer. it's really cheap, 4.2% abv, 92 calories a can, and only 3.2 carbs. and it tastes just fine. especially ice cold in a hot shower for some reason. ever drink a cold beer in a hot shower? try it.

list of beer stats .... find your daily drinker

kerosene 04-21-2011 08:20 PM

Finishing off my Honey Weiss. Yes, I still have a couple left. Yes, I am a lightweight, these days.

monster 04-21-2011 08:24 PM

I plan on drinking loadsa cold beer in the hottub with several other "ladies" tomorrow night.... but Lite will not feature ;) Pics or it never happened? Never happened ;)

FishHook004 04-21-2011 08:45 PM

Beer in the shower is the best invention since vanilla in the coke
