Misguided Souls

I've been up most of the night pondering the large number of misguided souls who congregate here in the Cellar. Are they misguided or truly lost. A few I am certain are destined to be burned and quite deservedly!! But, am I here to minister to them? Is that my destiny?

Why do they gather here? Is it because the Cellar equates as darkness? Is the Cellar a form of coven in the land of cyber? Why are there so many of them?? Should we drive them from the figurative darkness into the light of the world?

Yes, I'm quite troubled by these "heretics". I care about them, but at the same time is it even worth the time and effort to save them? Oh, in case you haven't figured it out, these lost souls I am referring to are "liberal democrats".

TheMercenary 01-27-2011 08:52 AM

What has a dark side, a light side and hold the universe together?

duct tape

wolf 01-27-2011 01:37 PM

Sarge, I've got your back.

and a handy instruction manual.

skysidhe 01-27-2011 02:06 PM

We need a list. I am not paying enough attention to know who they are and so a list is in order. Then, if any come up missing, and land in the poky, I'll know where to look.

It might be hard to wrestle big sarge for them tho.

Lamplighter 01-27-2011 02:27 PM

Can I be first on the list ?
I wanna be first...I wanna be first...I wanna be first

Of course, I'm so liberal I'll be sure others get on the list too,
if they have protected class status.

Rhianne 01-27-2011 04:19 PM

Liberal Democrats are too right wing for me.

Big Sarge 01-27-2011 04:23 PM

Yes, we need to start a prayer list for these poor souls

i care about humankind (even though i've been banished to the cellar shitter) but sometimes you just can't fix it. people are people. making mistakes, even though they think they are right, will still make mistakes.
we in the south know. someday they will too. ;)

Gravdigr 01-31-2011 03:26 PM

My mistakes are righter than your mistakes.

My mistakes can beat up your mistakes.

It is rare that my opinion of someone doesn't go down after I hear them express political opinions, of any flavor.

jbot 02-02-2011 06:34 PM

i'm pretty lost. i've been retracing my steps for some time now. can i join your list?

As hard as I tried, I could not get on Nixon's enemies list. Nor on George Jr's. How do I get on your list?

Even appliances get listed by the UL. Damn. I'm not even listed in the phone book. Talk about an inferiority complex.

I even tried posting under the name Emma - and could not get my posts listed in the Cellar.

Big Sarge 02-06-2011 10:40 AM

I'm making a list and checking it twice...gonna find out who is naughty or nice! I have come to the conclusion that these misguided souls are true mentally ill. No one in their just mind would support those evil democrats. That leaves only one thing..... I feel a healing coming on!!!

Spexxvet 02-07-2011 10:43 AM

Have you ever considered that YOU are the ones who are misguided and mentally ill?

Big Sarge 02-07-2011 10:53 AM

It's no good you trying to cloud the issue by pretending to be all-American Sarge.
The Daily Mail has an article exposing people like you!

And much as I'd like to see you exposed (in the NSFW thread, natch) I think it's about time you came clean about your scamming ways.

Rom scam: How African fraudsters now make £80million a year ripping off women (and a few men) so desperate for love they'll believe anything
Excerpt:
Quote:

Few love more fervently than the middle-aged and lonely. Which is why last week’s revelation that divorcee Kate Roberts lavished £80,000 on a handsome American soldier – only to find out he was a fictitious creation of a heartless gang of Nigerian conmen – came as yet another salutary warning that not everything is what it seems on the Worldwide Web.

The scammers’ modus operand is simple. The fraudsters register with dating websites using false identities and photos of good-looking people culled from the web. They typically pay subscription fees with stolen or cloned credit card details – and act quickly to inveigle their way into long-distance ‘love affairs’ over the net.
Sometimes they will send gifts or flowers. They’ll flatter and flirt. They know, after all, that most members of the dating site wouldn’t be there unless they were lonely and vulnerable.

snip

Last year Rebecca (not her real name) joined a dating agency and was contacted by an East African, masquerading as a US Army sergeant in Afghanistan. He bombarded her with emails, poems, flowers, balloons and teddy bears.
When he asked her for £450 to buy phone cards so that he could call her, Rebecca refused.

Then he said he would like to visit her but would need financial help to get a ‘transit grant’ from the Army.

‘He emailed me lots of very official-looking paperwork and I even had a call from someone who said he was his lieutenant confirming that he would not be allowed to leave his post without some financial guarantee that he would return,’ she told the BBC.

Big Sarge 02-07-2011 02:51 PM

Uhhh. That's pretty damn low. Id love to get my hands on scammers. I can guarantee you they weren't members of the NRA or Young Republicans!!!

SG- I posted a pic in the NSFW a couple of ears ago. It was a fairly close up after I had shaved. I think I used anonymous, but everyone knew it was me

Not everyone Sarge!
I've checked 2010 and 2009, will go back to 2008 :)

Plt - I hope it's longer than his ear or it won't be worth the search...!

Big Sarge 02-07-2011 04:39 PM

SG - I was shaved. If that helps

SamIam 02-07-2011 07:44 PM

I pray nightly to GW Jr. that I will be filled with the spirit of Ronnie Reagan (not to mention Bonzo) that I might shed my evil commie liberal ways and be saved. Unfortunately, my last glimmer of hope was extinguished when the GOP regained control in Congress and promptly ended funding for all social programs, including Merc's hour of prayer for those of us who are liberally challenged.

I turn to the Cellar as my last hope, checking daily for posts by UG. :p:

It wasn't in the Dwellar NSFW thread. No wonder I never saw it. You provided the only real photo in the thread, but by that time people had stopped checking it!

I was pleased I had a look though :)

I am from Dahab, which is a small town in Egypt on the Sinai peninsula. I am studying epidemiology at University of Arizona. When I am done I will return to Egypt where I hope to teach at Cairo University.

I like America, but it is confusing. It is not what I expected.

Hahaha I feel the same -I am from England but I live in Michigan. I see little difference between the right and left here when I look with British eyes, but there are many differences with American eyes, it just takes time to adjust your focus.

What do you feel about what is happening in Egypt right now? It's a country I've always wanted to visit -admittedly for the touristy stuff- but I didn't get there yet.... Morocco is the closest I've been.

I feel worried. Everything is falling to pieces, and I am 12,000 kilometers away. I am especially worrying that Omar Suleiman will be president. He is crazy. He is a sadist (Is this the right word? He like to hurt people. Some words I still need the translation software.) Mubarek was like Khrushchev. Suleiman is like Beria. Much, much worse.

monster 02-14-2011 09:54 PM

Yes, Sadist is the right word for your description. Are you in close contact with your family and friends, or is that difficult?

plthijinx 02-14-2011 10:52 PM

so if the Egyptians wanted Mubarek to step down and you say that Suleiman is crazy....i'm a bit confused here, so you're saying Suleiman will be worse? then why ask mubarek to step down? seems like the lesser of two evils....going by what you said that is.....

piercehawkeye45 02-15-2011 07:36 AM

I was under the impression they wanted to get of both. The entire regime actually.

In America, when any random issue arises, either left or right will take a position. The other side will take the opposite position.

In other words, their positions on various issues are not always consistent. That's why they might appear to be the same.

Because it's easier to bring down a hated figurehead than an entire regime.

Uday - the difference between the right and left is easy to discern. Close your eyes and think of everything good in the world. That's the right. Now picture something so hideous that it frightens young Republicans in their sleep. Thats the evil left wing

Hyperbole? :D

ZenGum 02-16-2011 05:59 PM

I think it is Poe's law.

http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Poe's_Law

Poe's Law: Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is utterly impossible to parody a Creationist in such a way that someone won't mistake it for the genuine article.

Poe's Corollary: It is impossible for an act of Fundamentalism to be made that someone won't mistake for a parody.

Poe's paradox: In any fundamentalist group where Poe's Law applies, a paradox exists where any new person (or idea) sufficiently fundamentalist to be accepted by the group is likely to be so ridiculous that they risk being rejected as a parodist (or parody).

Big Sarge 02-16-2011 06:21 PM

Another way to look at it is the left is possessed by demonic (or should we say democratic) forces.

In my country, people talk like this. Mostly the more extreme Muslims, when they talk about any one else.

I think most people were not expecting Suleiman to be president after Mubarek. There was no vice president before uprising. Is maybe more like when Augustus chose Tiberius to be the next emperor, so nobody would assassinate him. Mubarek appoints Suleiman to be vice president, so people will keep Mubarek.

It didn't work, and now maybe my country will have to do all this again.

Appreciate a problem that every leader has. He lives in an ethersphere. Everyone he meets wants something. Suddenly a leader no longer meets simple honest people on a street. Everyone has an agenda. History suggests that ten years of leadership results in corruption. Happens when one lives high in that ethersphere for too long.

Probably the only exception to that rule was King Hussein of Jordan. Who tried to start democracy in Jordan after over ten years of leadership. That example is rare. And that is why so many nations put term limits on their leaders. In the US, the president can only serve eight years. In Italy, view what Silvio Berlusconi has done without regret. Worry about too much Putin in Russia.

How can any leader see a 90% approval vote and think that was an honest plebicite? Clearly Mubarak had to know the elections were rigged. Either he was so subverted by the ethersphere. Or he truly believed he was the god for Egypt. Either way, Suleiman demonstrates a kind of people that end up around a leader who has been there too long. Ronald Reagan had his Oliver North and that corruption.

François Mitterrand did so much good for France in his early days. Living too long and isolated in the ethersphere is why Mitterand eventually became one of France's more corrupt Presidents. To summarize: Power corrupts.

Sarge might be right wing, but remember he spent plenty of time in the desert. His sense of humour is correspondingly dry.

Big Sarge 02-17-2011 02:32 PM

Alright ya'll, I confess. I've just been joking in this thread.

Sundae 02-17-2011 03:26 PM

A dry sense of humour is much sought after in these parts. And by these parts I'm talking geographically. My parts welcome something a bit more moist...
