Eye make-up and /or Contact lenses
If you wear either, do you do both eyes with your dominant hand or your left eye with your left hand and right with right?
|
Both eyes dominant hand, but different places on my finger for each lens to aid in insertion.
|
I guess I shoulda done a poll rather than making people post. I do each eye with each hand. for both. But I'm getting the feeling I'm odd. again.
|
.... if you do put mascara on both eyes with the same hand, how do you avoid the nose stripe? Or do you just wipe it off before it dries? i think that's why i started doing such things the way i do....
|
I do left eye/left hand and right eye/right hand for mascara for that very reason. Its just too awkward otherwise. I cant recall if I do the same with eye shadow though. Prolly. So I don't think your odd. However, I use the same hand to put in eye drops.
|
I do each eye with corresponding hand for both contacts and makeup. I wasn't 100% sure about the makeup, so I had to go look in the mirror and pretend to put on eyeliner. Heh.
|
My contacts go in both eyes with the same hand. I don't do eye makeup myself, but it seems to me the best way to avoid the nose-stripe from the mascara wand would be to rotate your hand around to the other side of your face, so your palm is facing in.

Both eyes right hand for contacts. Mascara too. But I don't wear makeup very often. My nose doesn't really get in the way. Wish I had a reason to wear make up more than once a month or so. Damn my life is boring.
|
I rarely wear make-up. When I do, I apply with my right hand to both eyes. I am pretty flexible, so I can quite happily twist my hand around to do the left eye, and I don;t recall ever getting a nose stripe :P

I agree about wearing makeup though. I just can't be bothered most of the time, but when I do wear it I think people notice. It brings out my eyeballs, which are my best feature (best of mediocre is still best.) One day I came to work with my hair done nicely, makeup on, and my black suit. A lady in another office said "I didn't recognize you, you look so nice." |
That's exactly what they say to me. Do people not realize what that implies?
|
People are idgits.
Like the song "You Are So Beautiful To Me" should be finished with "I don't care if everyone else thinks you're as ugly as a mud fence." It occurs to me though, when I apply mascara to my left eye, I reverse my hand, like Clod said. |
If you don't wear makeup, and then you get all gussied up, it's easy to look like another person. And the default compliment for somebody all dressed up is to say they look nice.
When my wife and I were planning our wedding, I asked her to please not put on so much makeup I wouldn't recognize her. She rarely wears make up, and I had been to other weddings where the brides were so made up, I honestly had a hard time seeing the person I knew in there under all the fancy dress. So I asked her to be recognizable. She was. |
Oh, I agree. Makeup should enhance, not look like Krusty the Clown. The best makeup is barely perceptible.
I have heard a lot "you don't need makeup" and I honestly think (and you guys can yay or nay this) that men prefer a natural look. |
Heh. Actually, you know, I say my wife doesn't usually wear make up, and she sometimes doesn't, but the truth is that she normally wears just a little bit, so that you don't even see it.

Good woman! |
I think maybe one day I'll go out with full make-up on just one side of my face......

Which is your best side? Mine, it depends on if it's a 'mole' or a 'beauty mark.' :p: |
?the inside

I do what Clod and Shawnee said. Twist the hand around. My left hand is stupid.
|
Apparently i do my eyeliner on my left eye half with my right hand and half with my left. I never noticed i switched hands before. I do the mascara with the same hand as the eye

As a funny story to how dunce I am about putting on make-up, yesterday I decided I looked too pale so I put on some blush. At the shopping center later in the day, I was pulled into this beauty boutique. The lady was blah blah blahing on about skin care and what's good for my skin and stuff. Then she showed the powder cream that I should use to cover my age spots. She put it on my left cheek. I told her I have the blemish balm(one of the products she was trying to sell) on. She said, "But your right cheek is a little red, see how the left cheek is covered nicely?" I looked into the mirror. Rather than being embarrassed, I laughed out loud and told her that's because I put on blush. My cheek looked flushed rather than having that nice glow a woman hopes to achieve with blush. I think my sister was embarrassed for me. :p: So, I told the saleswoman to put some of her powder on my right cheek so my face would look even. :D |
As to what Shawnee said about how many men say they prefer women without make-up. That's a lie, and I think men don't realize they're lying. Because what men like is that women looks like they're not wearing make-up. They like women looking nice but appears like they're not wearing make-up. As what Shawnee said, the "natural look."

No makeup.
I wear only one lens in the right eye; using the right hand to insert it. I typically insert the lens using the middle finger while holding my lower lid down with the third finger of the same hand. I can do it with, or without, a mirror. Using only one lens is called mono-vision. Guys normally have a hard time correcting vision this way. For women it is easier. I think it has something to do with the brain's ability to compensate and interpret depth perception. Men characteristically have better depth perception (on the average), so going to mono-vision will usually mess with that. For some reason I can handle it fine. I also recently made the move to progressive lenses because I was having a hard time reading up close. Once again, I am an anomaly and can switch back-and-forth between mono-vision and progressive glasses with ease. I was told not many folks can do that so effortlessly. I prefer mono-vision when running, working outside, strenuous work, etc. I hate cleaning dust and sweat from my glasses. I guess I’m just very fortunate. |
