New Year's Resolution

Lose some weight, save some money, blah blah blah....

anything substantial this year?

xoxoxoBruce 12-31-2010 04:17 PM

I'm going to pull that woman's abscessed tooth, but first I gotta take care of that bear. ;)

casimendocina 12-31-2010 06:01 PM

My new year starts on 5 Jan so I've got 4 more days to think about it, then I'll let you know (maybe)

Griff 01-01-2011 10:16 AM

I will not find a new way to be self-destructive this year.

Sundae 01-01-2011 10:42 AM

My New Year starts on Wednesday 12 January.
Just because I've decreed it will do so. After all, no point having resolutions I will break when with Limey and DanaC.

But this will be the year I lose weight.
And I'm doing it for MacMillan Cancer Relief.
I'll be advertising it at school (MacMillan is our chosen charity this year), having a weigh-in in the staffroom every week, and a public chart of my weight/ loss.

This time next year my little chickees, I'll be at least 70lbs lighter (5 stone).
And if anyone wants to have a little wager on that, I promise that the money will go onto the sponsorship forms I have already prepared.

I don't do resolutions. I don't even resolve not to make resolutions.

BrianR 01-01-2011 06:58 PM

Where is the thread listing everyone's resolutions from last year and how you did?

Simply, I hit all my targets save one and that is almost done!

GunMaster357 01-02-2011 08:52 AM

Resolution for 2011? Same as last year : Not losing my life trying to earn it.

Why does your new year start on 5 Jan?

Sundae 01-02-2011 10:37 AM

Last year's thread.
I think I failed every single one.

limey 01-02-2011 11:13 AM

And I put up just one resolution and failed that!

glatt 01-04-2011 03:31 PM

I had one resolution. And failed it.

footfootfoot 01-04-2011 03:38 PM

I have not failed a resolution since the mid 80s when I resolved never to make another new years resolution.

I am a winner!

Gravdigr 01-04-2011 06:30 PM

I ain't resoluting.

casimendocina 01-05-2011 06:11 AM

SG, good luck with your resolutions. Keep us posted on your progress so we can shout encouragement from the sidelines.

New Year has started today as today is the day that I moved countries and the first four and a bit days of 2011 felt like an extension of 2010. I've got a 1 year contract o/s so who knows where 2012 will find me (most likely back in Oz).

I'm in Singapore for a couple of days at the moment, so that's sort of like being in limbo. I'll be arriving in Indonesia on Friday and starting work Saturday. 2010 was spectacularly shit. 2011 has to be better. Resolutions for 2011 will be articulated in the next 24 hours (Resolution No. 1).

4: talk to my grandma and uncle in Florida more (starting today by calling and wishing them a happy new year) my uncle is my FB friend and I sent them both cards this year
5: find time to volunteer at the SPCA yup, been doing that

End goal of all these steps: gain self-confidence! not really

This year's goals:

Get transferred to and started at UT of Austin

Good luck Casi! Sounds exciting! I've never moved farther from home than 1hr...

Thanks MTP. Last time I came back from a work gig o/s I pontificated long and loudly about how I was never leaving my hometown to work anywhere else ever again. I now have to eat my words. I suspect (unfortunately) that relocating for work might almost be a lifestyle for me.

How far is Austin from where you currently live?

About 4hrs if I don't hit traffic. So its not all that bad, baby steps. To me though, it is still scary.

It does get easier the more times you move and you can always go back (at 4 hours, it's just jump in the car and drive).
