How to be alone
 

Found this at Cellarite Kisrael's site, and found it interesting.

Sort of a dilemma...
Someone you'd like to meet, but then you'd break her solitude.

That was wonderful. I was alone for a spell, well from age 27 to 40. (there was actually a short time during that period that I lived with a guy, but it wasn't a true partnership and I still felt somewhat alone). I shopped alone, ate out alone, I saw movies alone and I took trips alone (and I rate those as some of my all time best trips). The best time I had alone was the four years before I married my husband from age 36 to 40. Its not always easy, but I learned that being alone with myself is sometimes the best time for me.

Wow, I don't even remember making that video. ;)

edit: I agree Pico, being alone has its ups and its downs, but I count my solo road trip to be among the coolest things I ever did.

And luckily, I've never felt weird going out to eat or to the movies by myself.

That was excellent.

She shot a bunch of that video herself, using a tripod, but she also had someone working the camera for several scenes. Ironic that for those scenes, she was talking about being alone while working with a partner.

I haven't been alone in a long time. I liked being alone. I miss it at times. But when I was alone, I missed being with other people. Grass is always greener, I guess.

Yes, the advantage of traveling alone is you can be impulsive, change course on a whim, and do whatever suits your mood. :thumb:

I've never lived alone.

But I love doing things alone.

Week after next I'm going on my very first road trip alone, staying in a hotel room for the first time alone. I'm very excited about it!

I have a very hard time being anything BUT alone - and I LOVE it but - at the same time feel WEIRD for loving it and entertain niggling thoughts that maybe it is selfish and wrong of me to keep myself to myself - but it's always, always better that way.

I loved this, bruce. Thanks! It makes me feel okay about loving alone-ness and holding alone as my true desire.

That was great, Bruce! I've been alone since breaking up with my so-called BF a little over a year ago. Sometimes I get lonely, but for the most part, I'm okay with it. I have gone on many camping trips - just me and the back country, and I remember those expeditions as some of the most fun I've ever had.

A huge difference between being alone, and being lonely.

sitting in a dug out having never got a hit is also a very lonely thing.

There is a value to solitude to stillness, but isolation is different. I agree one doesn't have to be dating someone to matter, but still even in her video she mentions having human contact.

Isolation not speaking with friends not being round people not engaging in society for awhile is the first steep in insanity.

Does the Cellar count?

To a degree, but you still have to get out of your house.

The first day all my kids were at school was my first day of alone. It was awesome and scary. But the alone ended 9 hours later. Five years later, I realy like alone in the day.but it doesnt last long

Someday they'll all move out and you can be alone more.

Then I'll be lonely. :lol:

I actually spend very little of my time alone now. But I appreciate the time I get.

I wouldn't say your any crazier than the rest of us; all I'm saying is we need real human contact for mental health

I KNEW there was something I'd forgotten. More than ketchup, I'd say it's chocolate that you need with all things.

Tabasco is a man thing

You must be less sure that tabasco is a man thing because you forgot to punctuate with a period as you did when asserting ketchup is a woman thing.

Besides, I have my 2 oz bottle of Cholula sauce. Saying it's a cute little bottle with a fancy little wooden top. Now that's a woman thing. :)

..but that's not why I bought it. It is just good hot sauce.

Writing without periods is a man thing

Writing about ketchup and periods at the same time is a man thing.

Telling men whats a man thing is a women thing.
