I feel like I've been eaten by a coyote and shit off a cliff
Hayfever.
Claritin isn't even touching it. |
Got any left over hydrocodone?
|
Ooh! In fact, I do. Will that help?
|
I take it when I have a cold and have to work. It dulls the edges for a while. I only take half of a 5mg tablet though.
|
I'll have to see what I've got. I remember it more then dulling the edge though. I was thoroughly annealed.
|
A 10 mg will do that to me, somewhat. I was on 10 mg of oxycodone every 6 hours for a six month period several years ago because of a herniated disc in my neck. I might be a little immune to its affects. Half a 5 mg doesn't mess me up at all, but it does alleviate a lot of discomfort, like that aches and pains associated with a head cold.
|
I hate to cut up those 40mg-ers. ;)

Dude I feel for ya. I used to get hammered every fall. Then about ten years ago, after a couple pretty bad seasons, it tapered off to the point where I can usually suffer through my fall allergies pretty well, with no medication outside of a few really bad days. I used to take an OTC anti-histamine called chlorosomething maleate, I'll see if I can find out what it was...

For the second time in as many months a common cold has turned into a yucky sinus infection. I suppose I'm lucky - it doesn't hurt, but Boy! am I fed up with blowing my nose ... :yelsick:

I'm rinsing the sinus daily hoping to get through.

Yeah, I've got the neti pot going, but it doesn't help very much.

Maybe a little bleach in the water?
|
I would actually try that. Maybe start out with 1/8 tsp per gallon of water.
|
No no, not bleach, Grapefruit Seed Extract.

I think for a while there, people were really pushing the GSE and it grew in popularity as an alternative to Goldenseal, which was being over harvested and is now endangered (or was at least).
Stick with the bleach... ;) |
 And what does Wikipedia say about putting diluted bleach up your nose?
Most of the refuting studies are different versions of "it only works because" [of additional antimicrobial substances included in the commercially-available mixtures] which still can, of course, be shortened to "it works." |

In addition to destroying microbes, the bleach also oxidizes pesticide residues. |
Oh sure, I use a 10% bleach solution to clean my cutting board. It's not gonna kill you. I was just thinking maybe your nasal membranes might be a little more sensitive and you'd end up with a wicked burn, but I could be paranoid owing to the fact that my nose bleeds if you so much as sneeze at it (nyuck nyuck nyuck...) I had never heard about the pesticide residue thing though, that's good to know.
|
Chlorine is poison, and applying it to mucous membranes has got to be disastrous.
|
Unless my math is really wacky (high probability) 1/2t per gallon works out to a .13% solution, a lot more mellow than cutting board cleaning. Still, I'm only thinking about it...
|
I use bleach to clean my toilet. I can't imagine snorting it even if it is diluted. I have never heard of using it to clean fruit or veges with either.
Man you yankees do some weird stuff. :eyebrow: |

I breathe heavy bleach almost daily. I probably should stop doing that. Of course, that would mean people's toilets and showers wouldn't be quite so sparkly.

McDonalds bleach-wash their lettuce, don't they?
|
I think they just wipe it off with an ammonia patty.

Oh, just take a vacation to lovely Wyoming fer Chrissake!
It was 40 deg in Evanston last week and I went through a little freezing rain out Fort Bridger way too. I expect snow on top of the mountains this trip. The plants are already going dormant for the winter and I have almost NO symptoms of hay fever up there. Just remember to come home by Halloween. |
