Water. The thing the turtle is on is a floating plastic log. It's anchored to the side of the aquarium by the two black vertical sticks.

He's so cute.

I wondered why that "rock" was moving earlier.

I think he was nudging it from below at one point. He's actually quite frisky today!

On the same circuit as his main light you should wire in a tiny red indicator light next to a sign that says 'on air.'
