Simpsons References...
Is there something wrong with someone who can relate nearly every situation (psychological, physical, spiritual, cultural, historical) to a Simpsons episode?
I found myself describing an acquaintance as a "Female Comic Book Guy" yesterday. |
No. That's a perfectly cromulent description for a person.

A careful study of popular culture will embiggen anyone's mind.
|
I do that with Seinfeld quotes.
|
The Simpsons already did everything, therfore they can alwyas be referenced.

One of the favourite lines used in our house mainly by Dazza and the boys is:
It's just a little dirty, it's still good! It's still good! eta: another thing that is commonly heard is, "That's just like in the Simpsons episode where..." |
It's just a little air-born it's still good , it's still good

Yesterday I overheard a cow orker do a Nelson laugh at another cow orker. I cracked up.

two days ago I described a childhood pal as a "Ralph Wiggum" - maybe I'm just being lazy?

You're lucky. At least other people know what you're referring to.
My quotes and references come from The League of Gentlemen. And worse than that - sometimes from their DVD commentaries. After all, many things they say aren't funny out of context. "The earrings, the party hat and the dressing gown - the three things Lon Chaney forgot." I laugh anyway. You've got to really. |
I did a Simpsons here, but it might have been a bit obscure. :)

A couple years ago, I wanted a "I choo choo choose you" card to give to my wife for VD, but they don't exist, so I had to make one.

My dentist has a Simpsons poster on the ceiling and the last time I was there it crossed my mind that I must be the only person in the Kingdom who has never seen an episode of the show.
A mate of mine, who is in his fifties and has three kids, has seen every one several times. He did put me on to a couple of pearls of Homer's wisdom: (i) "Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try." (ii) "Trying is the first step towards failure" I think I could warm to Homer.:right: Carruthers |
One of my favorites: Homer - "No, Lisa, the point of Moby Dick is 'Be Yourself' "
