It's Princess Bride Day!

Have fun storming the castle! - Miracle Max

What is YOUR favorite quote?

glatt 03-03-2010 08:32 AM

Anybody want a peanut?

Pie 03-03-2010 08:40 AM

Think it'll work?
It would take a miracle.

Pete Zicato 03-03-2010 08:58 AM

Way too many. It's one of the most quotable movies.

The Grandson: Is this a kissing book?

Man in Black: Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.
Vizzini: Wait til I get going! Now, where was I?

[repeated line]: As you wish.

Spexxvet 03-03-2010 09:25 AM

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!!

And that's what she is, the Queen of Refuse. So bow down to her if you want, bow to her. Bow to the Queen of Slime, the Queen of Filth, the Queen of Putrescence. Boo. Boo. Rubbish. Filth. Slime. Muck. Boo. Boo. Boo

lumberjim 03-03-2010 10:02 AM

Fezzig, tear his arms off.

Miracle Max: Go away or I'll call the Brute Squad.
Fezzik: I'm on the Brute Squad.
Miracle Max: [sees Fezzik] You *are* the Brute Squad!

Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

I have a t-shirt I wear fencing with a faux Hello my name is: sticker with Inigo Montoya written on it.

lumberjim 03-03-2010 08:14 PM

monster 03-03-2010 08:35 PM

I've only purchased two (non porn) movies in my life.
Princess Bride & Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Best endorsement evah.

Mark Knopfler does the soundtrack, and some of it is actually not bad on its own merits.

Really? Did not know that. Cool!

Ibby 03-04-2010 02:41 PM

Knopfler only agreed to do the soundtrack when Rob Reiner promised to include his hat from Spinal Tap in the film.

(it's on the hatrack in the kid's room at the beginning)

Happy Monkey 03-04-2010 03:03 PM

It may be faster to list the lines in the movie that aren't classic quotes.

ferret88 03-04-2010 08:48 PM

I prefer
"As
you
wish."

SamIam 03-04-2010 09:27 PM

Inigo Montoya: Who are you?
Man in Black: No one of consequence.
Inigo Montoya: I must know...
Man in Black: Get used to disappointment.
Inigo Montoya: 'kay.

No Whay! My niece swears she's going to do this when she's married in July 2011! How did it go over for you? Was it funny and great or did no one get it?

Anyone who didn't get it would be unlikely to be worth knowing.

All of my college friends got it. The older folks were a little befuddled. It was great to see their faces. It was too bad that he felt the need to explain what he did and why.

Glinda 03-06-2010 03:16 AM

Miracle Max: Sonny, true love is the greatest thing in the world... Except for a nice MLT - mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich - where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe. [smacks lips] They're so perky, I love that.

The Impressive Clergyman: Mawwage. Mawwage is wot bwings us togevver tooday. Mawwage, that bwessed awangment, that dweam wiffin a dweam... And wuv, twoo wuv, will fowwow you foweva... :luv:

Westley: No. To the pain.

When ill health forced Andre to largely quit wrestling in the late ‘80s, he accepted the role of Fezzik in Rob Reiner’s movie The Princess Bride. Everyone on the set loved the big man, with the possible exception of Reiner himself. Ever the sociable fellow, he kept fellow cast members Mandy Patinkin and Carey Elwes out night after night, drinking and otherwise goofing around. The actors were incapable of matching Andre’s intake, but certainly gave it a serious try. As a result, they often showed up on set still loaded or suffering from the sort of hangovers that make death seem a pleasant alternative. Reiner tried to get Andre to leave the actors alone, but Andre could only be Andre, and the other cast members continued to pay the price.

The shooting schedule required Andre to be in England for about a month. When his part wrapped, Andre checked out of his suite at the Hyatt in London and flew back to his ranch in North Carolina. His bar bill for the month-long stay?

Just a shade over $40,000.

lumberjim 03-06-2010 02:11 PM

It's possible. Pig.

monster 03-07-2010 07:40 PM

OK, I seen it now. That Buttercup was a wuss.

...and they should have wrapped the miracle pill in bacon, then chocolate-coated it.
