Snow Yet?

Supposed to be here noonish. so far - a big, fat NOTHING.

You?

lumberjim 02-05-2010 09:56 AM

go look again

fargon 02-05-2010 09:56 AM

We got a dusting of snow last nite.

Happy Monkey 02-05-2010 09:57 AM

Very light, none sticking yet except on top of what was already here.

glatt 02-05-2010 10:10 AM

I'm in an interior office, but my wife just called and she said it started about a half hour ago.

Undertoad 02-05-2010 10:35 AM

spose to start here at 3-5pm

Pico and ME 02-05-2010 10:55 AM

Started here around 9:30 this morning, you should be seeing it either now or real soon, Bri.

jinx 02-05-2010 11:09 AM

Nothing here yet. Should be in full swing for my ride home though.
I wondered why there was no food and a million old people at the store when I shopped yesterday.... fuckers.

monster 02-05-2010 11:10 AM

no snow for Michigan..... again :(

SamIam 02-05-2010 11:10 AM

Here in the 4-Corners we're supposed to get snow Sunday. Or maybe tomorrow. It depends on how close to Telluride you are.

Sleeting rain turning to snow. Messy.

dmg1969 02-05-2010 11:48 AM

Nothing here yet in central PA. They expect it to start sometime around 2-ish with the heaviest snow starting after the evening rush. It takes time to saturate the air when the humidity is very low. We're expecting 12" with 18" closer to the MD line.

Happy Monkey 02-05-2010 12:15 PM

So far, I'm not impressed by the snow today. It's barely even getting the pavement wet.

But a glance at the radar shows that this is just a tiny, wispy cloud band in front of the real storm, and things are gonna get bad soon.

Sundae 02-05-2010 12:48 PM

Snow yet?
No' yet.

We're due it next week apparently.

classicman 02-05-2010 01:51 PM

nope :(

Just got home. It's sloppy slushy yucky out there. I'll post a photo I took on the way home, as soon as my phone sends it to my e-mail. I can't find the little connector thingy from phone to PC.

Ah, here it is. Lovely day, isn't it? Weather folks say we're supposed to get 6-8" or maybe 12" depending on who's talking.

Happy Monkey 02-05-2010 03:01 PM

It's sticking on the roads, wherever there aren't any trees.

glatt 02-05-2010 03:03 PM

We just got an emergency e-mail alert from the County saying it will be 20 to 30 inches. Holy crap. I'm starting to wonder about the roof. Will a Virginian roof built to the shoddy post war building standards of 60 years ago hold that much weight?

We have about 1 inch now.

Juniper 02-05-2010 03:05 PM

Good question, glatt. I'm worried about the aluminum roof over our chicken run.

Isn't your roof sloped?
You could always shovel it if its worrying you.

Trilby 02-05-2010 07:38 PM

This is NOT a major snowstorm, people! The area weathercasters should be taken out and, while not actually flogged, at least spoken harshly to.

jinx 02-05-2010 07:42 PM

You hush.

We're hoping for several feet and many days of sled use.

Pico and ME 02-05-2010 10:21 PM

I hope all stays well with dwellers in the 20+ inches area of this storm.

skysidhe 02-05-2010 10:51 PM

I won't mention how it was 54 f and sunny today.

About a foot so far, but the heavy stuff is supposed to come in the morning.

Trilby 02-06-2010 06:36 AM

i like your doggie.

glatt 02-06-2010 06:51 AM

Hard to tell how much we have. The wind is blowing it around so much. I'd guess anywhere from 10 inches to 14 inches, just looking out the window.

Ha ha, that's a wolf face off a mini-shopping bag.
Looks like it might get serious... and the wind chill is 5.

skysidhe 02-06-2010 08:26 AM

That is fun. :)

glatt 02-06-2010 10:19 AM

We dodged a bullet. Most of our neighbors lost power last night.

Everyone's out in the street comparing notes. The outage is in a weird configuration. Groups of houses here and there have power in the middle of a sea of outage. We're one of the lucky ones.

There's a good chance we may be hosting a family or two tonight. Depends on what the power company is able to do. Snow's still coming down pretty hard.

A little over 26 inches, but I think it's slowing down.

monster 02-06-2010 01:13 PM

We got a light dusting last night. All gone now. This is the unsnowiest winter I've ever ancountered in Michigan.

glatt 02-06-2010 05:01 PM

It stopped about an hour ago. I have no idea what the official number is, but after a day of settling, it measured 21 inches in the middle of the driveway.

Yeah we're fine, the other guy is fine. Jeep is afu.

Lemme guess.... GMC 4x4 doesn't understand that getting traction doesn't mean he has brakes. :mad2:

Nirvana 02-06-2010 07:19 PM

Oh shit!

xoxoxoBruce 02-06-2010 07:25 PM

This is why a lot of areas made it illegal to be out unless you had to be.
They're even shutting down most of public transportation in Philly, until tomorrow morning, except the subway and one elevated line. Not only other cars are a problem, but people on skis, bicycles and snowmobiles, in the street.

skysidhe 02-06-2010 07:28 PM

My dad has a 4x4 like that. Red and HUGE and not so easy to handle apparently.

Look at your one child taking it all in stride. :)

I am so so glad you are all alright.

Yeah, like the cop told him, 4wd means you can go it doesn't mean you can stop.

Pico and ME 02-06-2010 08:09 PM

Holy crap! I bet that was scary. I'm glad everyone is OK, but I'm sorry for your Jeep. (Or I'm not sorry for your Jeep...j/k) I am sorry it happened. Fuck. Accidents just suck.

I had a little one during our last ice storm. As I tried to make a left turn, my car kept going straight and my wheel hit the curb flat side...hard. Ended up costing me nearly $1000. I declined not to go the insurance route.

At least with yours, the other guys insurance pays up. That is a bright side.

classicman 02-06-2010 08:19 PM

So sorry Jinx, but so glad all are ok. That's the important thing. the car can be fixed/replaced.

jinx 02-06-2010 08:59 PM

No way that guy even tried to stop. Look how far into a snow/mud bank he has pushed my 6000lb jeep. We're way off the other side of the road there.

Oooops, did you forget to bring Grampa in from his chair in the garden?

DanaC 02-07-2010 07:46 AM

You've got a bit of white on your chair there.

Happy Monkey 02-07-2010 03:49 PM

I actually enjoy shoveling when the snow is light. But now I never want to leave the spot. It won't be available when I get back.

These guys haven't dug out yet.

Happy Monkey 02-07-2010 03:50 PM

The snow was much deeper at my parents' place. Notice anything odd?

I forgot how much that sucks. As much as I hated shoveling my driveway, at least nobody else will park in it.

Pico and ME 02-07-2010 03:56 PM

HM, Im looking and looking....

glatt 02-07-2010 03:58 PM

look at the clothes line. If you click on the link and look at the original size, you'll see it.

Happy Monkey 02-07-2010 03:58 PM

I wonder why "snow" was yellow. I didn't pee on it intentionally.

Happy Monkey 02-07-2010 04:01 PM

Right. The snow accumulated on the clothesline. Apparently it was on all of the lines, but it fell off by the time my mom got my camera.
