Where'd you get that? I'm talkin' 'bout the wheelchair bike.

lumberjim 02-04-2010 10:55 PM

In 2010, I aspire to purchase NO items. I will, admittedly have to buy things, but I am resolving to purchase no new tools, or furniture, or electronic gizmos for my personal use.

I will aspire to make do with the many ridiculous things I already own. thank you very much for helping me realize that I am owned by the things that I own.

space monkey, out.

monster 02-04-2010 11:39 PM

aa - a second year travel hockey team? that's an interesting must have....

lookout123 02-05-2010 12:27 AM

LMT piston 16. mmmmm. in may.

limey 02-05-2010 03:24 AM

Aspire to purchase stuff? Nope.
Aspire to get the house redecorated from top to bottom? Yup.
I moved in nine years ago and redecorated five rooms when I did. the other three and hallway are as they were from previous inhabitants. I don't like decorating and Best Beloved is not the practical sort :headshake, so we'll get a man in.

The party plates with glass holders are awesome!

Sundae 02-05-2010 07:32 AM

We encountered those for the first time at my Godfather's ordination. I was SO impressed by that buffet. It set the standard for any future buffets I attended. Sadly, none have lived up to the mark....

Anyway, I will buck the trend and be the first bad person to add a must-have to the list. I am getting a personal, portable DVD player for the two long coach journeys I have planned. And I'm not paying for it either :p

Meh, it's on sale in Tesco and Mum offered. I fell even more like a teenager than usual! It's only £20 though, so no guilt. And it's pink!

ETA - need to check it is actually portable. Just had a sudden thought that it might just be a mini DVD player for use around the house. Better check before she buys it!

SamIam 02-05-2010 08:22 AM

I don't know that I MUST have this, but I would like to move out of my apt and into a small house or cottage where I can have a garden.

lookout123 02-06-2010 12:50 AM

gold dot 115 gr. MUST have more of this.

Sundae 02-06-2010 04:19 AM

I found out that not only is the cheap pink DVD player not portable, but you have to spend £180+ to get a battery life of more than 2 hours on the portable ones.

Not worth it. Borrowing my Dad's CD player for the journey instead!

So there you go. I'm no longer a material girl.

Get yourself a cheap mp3 player. You'll never look back! That way you dont have to carry round bunches of cds.

I thought you were saying you were buying precious metals to avoid the coming currency collapse, but after Googling it, I realize you are buying ammo to fend off the coming zombie plague.

lookout123 02-06-2010 10:09 AM

No zombies gonna touch my precious metals or my brain.

Cloud 02-06-2010 12:48 PM

ooh, want that piece of rolling turf lounge!

xoxoxoBruce 02-06-2010 01:19 PM

Not me, I have enough trouble not tripping on a flat rug.

skysidhe 02-07-2010 06:01 PM

I was going to go with the singing toilet paper dispenser for fun but this glow in the dark paper weight seems really cool.

They glow in the dark and appear to move.

I must have it but I won't really buy it.

Huh. I really like that! The price isnt too bad, even.

skysidhe 02-07-2010 08:01 PM

yeah,

I wonder if it REALLY appears to move like it says?

The lighted base is probably the key it seems. That's an extra charge of course.

Pico and ME 02-07-2010 08:02 PM

I like that they look like jellyfish, Its OK if they don't move.

skysidhe 02-07-2010 08:08 PM

I think we have itchy trigger fingers :)

Pico and ME 02-07-2010 08:11 PM

Im a sucker for colored glass or color in glass...whatever.

wolf 02-07-2010 10:28 PM

So far, still lusting after the KindleDX, not sure how much of a real improvement over the current Kindle1 it would be, I mean it is pretty much just for reading books which I'm doing absolutely fine on the Kindle1 ... Maybe if they drop the price point, though.

That one's a Yamaha, but I'm not particular about brands as long as they have what I need. I'm after effects on my next board. The one I use now has a shitty reverb (more like a sophisticated, too many knobs echo effect). Sounds pretty good but I like the old spring type reverb. I also love pan, flange and chorus. My current board also wants to clip my amp at times on high freqs. Juju's vocals clip fairly frequently unless I down the volume some. I'm just going to get a new one like I REALLY like and use the old one on my monster stereo.;)

Elspode 02-08-2010 08:34 AM

Isn't clipping usually a function of amp power, rather than anything in the board?

What sort of music are you two doing? Got any samples? :D

Clodfobble 02-08-2010 01:37 PM

Oh I've heard it Els, it goes like this: bow-chicka-bow-wow...

busterb 02-08-2010 04:56 PM

A new puppy, tomorrow.

classicman 02-08-2010 04:58 PM

Excellent! What did you decide on?

Yes. But if I had more control on the board the vocals wouldn't overdrive the amp to the clip point. I can sing full throttle and never clip. Juju has a superlative soprano voice and she clips regularly... of course I man the board and rectify. We're working on duets and I don't have the time to be fucking with the board. The board I'm running only has two mic channels with a shared EQ. So the only way to avoid the clip is via volume, which fucks with harmonics in a duet situation. With separate EQ controls I could level out at full power on both mics. Hope I'm making sense.

I do classic rock/country and she does the same, but she really excels in spiritual/blues music. We are currently working on a vid to post here. Coming soon.... I promise.

I really need to invest in a compression unit (among other juicy joys of equipment) but we have so many other things going on right now we're kind of having to make do at present. Getting a new house and my goddam denture issue as well. I see a bright future in our music careers. These things take time and practice practice practice....money money money... patience patience pat...well you know the drill.;)

True, true, true....but we will master EVERYTHING together as a team! That is as long as I behave! :p (private joke.)

xoxoxoBruce 02-10-2010 11:23 PM

I think you'll be a team as long as you misbehave. ;)

capnhowdy 02-11-2010 06:03 AM

Yep. Good behavior can get mundane at times.

Maybe they'll reproduce and we can all have one.

capnhowdy 02-17-2010 08:17 PM

Just looking at them makes me want to "reproduce".

TheMercenary 02-17-2010 08:25 PM

I am beyond sick of fighting my little Honda Civic through the snow and slush, getting tossed around and having zero traction.

TheMercenary 02-17-2010 08:52 PM

I loved my F-150's. I still recommend them even though I drive a Tundra. Cheers.

Undertoad 02-18-2010 06:34 AM

I miss the truck.

I didn't think I would, the terrible mileage, the longer braking time, not being able to whiz around. But there's something to knowing that you can get through anything, that you can haul stuff, that the shitty roads aren't going to knock your fillings out or bend a rim. You stamp on the gas and get this big engine roaring. It just feels good. Someday I will have one again.

Pico and ME 02-18-2010 08:39 AM

We had an old F-150 for a while. I hated driving it in the snow...it slid all over the place. Otherwise, man was it great not having to pay for delivery.

Bullitt 02-18-2010 08:56 AM

I'm going to pick up a cheap motorcycle too for when I just need to get from point A to B. I figure the mileage between those two will even out to reasonable.

jujuwwhite 02-18-2010 08:27 PM

Yea, capnhowdy and I desperately need a truck AND I want a scooter for shooting back and forth to work on pretty nights.
