They can put a man on the moon...

but they can't make a goddamn tea ball, basket, infuser, whatever that isn't a malfunctioning piece of crap.

WTF is that all about?

lumberjim 02-03-2010 08:43 PM

only fags drink tea

Clodfobble 02-03-2010 09:18 PM

You could always get yoursef one of these.

lumberjim 02-03-2010 09:24 PM

or one of these

Flint 02-03-2010 09:25 PM

Get, like, the ceramic teacup that has the insert that you put the loose leaves in, and a lid for when it's steeping. I don't know, we have one.

skysidhe 02-03-2010 09:57 PM

Or one of these instead of ceramic.

I would like one.

squirell nutkin 02-03-2010 10:05 PM

I want fewer widgets and stuff. I just want a friggin stainless steel mesh thing that holds the tea leaves long enough for me to make tea and lasts more that a year. I'd pay good money.

Like this?

I have an old one which is sturdy. Probably made in the 70s. lol

I have a buddy at work who's had one of these for years. I looked at them (Todd & Holland is in one of the suburbs here), but I went cheap with a $3 stainless job. It's lasted for a couple of years now.

They're pretty basic. What happens to yours that makes it unusable?

I have one that I stole from my mother, so it's been around a while

Happy Monkey 02-04-2010 10:20 AM

Of course, they can't put a man on the moon anymore, so I don't like your chances.

No. The spring isn't strong enough to keep the ball closed and fine tea leaks out. Maybe in the 70's they were better.

It's on my list of things to do when I visit Jinx and Jim

Clodfobble 02-04-2010 05:06 PM

How about this one, nutkin? The Swiss make everything well.

squirell nutkin 02-04-2010 10:27 PM

That one's no good. The company that sells it uses the papyrus font.

No, I'm just being churlish. That looks good. I'll try it and let you know.

I love my cellar personal shoppers. You all make me happy.

lumberjim 02-04-2010 11:03 PM

Papyrus is a great font!

I've got this site bookmarked. I go back to it looking around again and again.

It has great teas and great pots.

These are ceramic and have infusers inside.

Wanna know how I came across it? I googled "Japanese tea infuser," on the assumption that they'd take their tea gadgets more seriously than the rest of us. Doesn't explain why I ended up on a Swiss-made product, but I do find that being racist in my searches usually narrows the field considerably, and almost always to my benefit. :)

So, like, "haitian blood donor" might be a good search string?

I don't even drink hot tea, and I want one of those. It just looks so cool.
