Eagles @ Cowboys
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-p...owboys-Preview
Division title goes to the winner. I don't want the Cowboys to have a bye, but I DO want them the win this one.. If the Eagles win, they get the bye in addition to the NFC east champ T shirt. All the Eagles fans I've talked to think the Eagles will lose this one....and I think the Cowboys might stumble...... Maybe they'll tie. |
2 years ago, when these two teams met in their last game fo the season, the eagles punished the cowboys physically, causing 2 injuries to the cowboys, which basically costed the cowboys any chance of advancing within the play-offs.
in last years final game between these two, the eagles humiliated the cowboys. this year shows the eagles to be superior to the cowboys. however, this new cowboys stadium will be in the spotlight again after this night. the only way for them to achieve this spotlight, is if the cowboys win this game. so, there are things of greater value at play here.... its a gimme for the cowboys. |
I'll be wearing MB's #5 jersey, while watching the game at our neighborhood hangout and drinking pints of PBC Kenzinger...which means the Iggles will win.

but i'll tell you what.... its is very probable that this cowboys win on sunday will set up another game between the two teams in a wildcard game. that will be a complete knock-out game in which we will get our revenge for this fixed loss on sunday |

For the love of god, Jim...don't bring a child into our bar wearing a Cowgirl's jersey.
The other kids will show no mercy! The dogs will have something to say, too. |
|
LJ, why do you not want the Cowboys to have a bye?

its buisness, its entertainment.
create a huge attraction on the greatest stage. .....and i'm not saying it now. i pointed this scenario out at the start of the season, despite the fact that the cowboys are actually under par as a team. i've got a witnesss for this one. |

Yeah, it was mentioned before and I didn't get it then either. Don't the Cowboys sell out at home, regardless of what kind of season they have? Do you think their fans would stay home because they thought the new stadium was a jinx? I have trouble believing that would happen, but you know the game and the teams/fans much better than I ever will.
|
Bruce, maybe you are thinking like Pburg Pirate ownership. Screwing the taxpayers was supposed to be only the first step in a process not the last.:3_eyes:
From watching the Cotton Bowl yesterday, I'd say they have a helluva nice venue there but you still need a culture of winning to keep butts in the seats and draw in the corporate money.. |
bruce, thats not quite the picture, but you know, honestly, i really hope i'm wrong.
i could care less for my money wagered this week. i'm 100 percent backing my eagles. donovan healthy, in a superbowl, with jackson to throw to, and westbrook as a short option, a bye.... possible opponents on the way to the superbowl, the vikings pass defence, or the under par saints defence. ealges all the way baby. |
Well, it's all Cowboys so far.
|
This is going exactly as I predicted - Big Game = TIGHT team.
The only thing different is that the cowboys aren't running as much as I thought they would. |
Yeah, but in the second half the Eagles are going to play, instead of the cheerleaders. :right:
|
This is going badly, because I came down with a cold and had to stay home today.
I hate Miles Austin now. |

How do they fix a game? Pay the Cowboys extra? Tell the Eagles they aren't getting paid? Buy the officials? Drug the GatorAde? Edit the game footage with a time machine?
It wasn't like they could sway the game with a field goal, it's a fucking blow out. Wait I know, they played McNabb. |
peoples perception in regards to how the nfl is run is far from truth.
gambling money is the one true god of this sport. it is the only thing that is keeping this beast [the nfl] alive. and it controls it completely. i know ya'll wish to believe you're watching something thats fair, but its just not the way it is....its a buisness. money and ownership overides all managment and all players on every team. many books have been written describing these forces within the game. things are simply getting worse due to the every growing money net in gambling. |
get me out of the game!
|
So how does it happen? What's the answer to Bruce's question?
And why are you a fan if you know it's all crap? That's like being a pro wrestling fan... |

let me give you an example. when a trade involves a draft pick, one of the things that can be negotiated, is the quality of the pick....one might guarentee a 3 win season 1st round draft pick. this kind of guarentee, would fix a whole season of games for the team that the draft pick involves. these draft pick negotiations are also very common in other profesional sports [nhl, nba]. in the nfl, one of the most common fixed games, come from teams who have targeted a specific draft prospect, thus fixing many losses for that team....these fixes are arranged through the managment of the franchise, and the players on the field truly have no say in the matter. these kind of fixes are pretty much common knowledge in the nfl. Quote:
so yeah, its a living |
I don't see how the front office can throw a game, if the players want to win, unless the players are coerced to not want to win. So the players, at least the key ones, have to be in on it. That would explain why McNabb has always been so inconsistent.
|
these players recieve a considerable amount of money and are all under contract to a franchise.
if the franchise wants to draft gerhart, they're gonna draft him, and they're gonna lose as many games as it takes to draft him. players don't make these decisions, they do whatever the fuck they're told to do by the hand that feeds them. but this topic is not so much about how a franchise is run, rather how there is something greater which overides all owners and franchises, and that of course, is the money of gambling, which is simply overwhelming, and in result, controls the result of any game on any given day. |
Why do they care who they draft then, if money and not talent wins the games?

nfl is not fixed. you should be

and when my eagles eliminate your cowboys next week, you can call it another coincidence. |
in 2007, the tampa bay rays finished in last place overall in major league baseball.
before the 2008 season, i pointed them out as the best team in the al east [ny yankees, boston red sox, toronto blue jays, baltimore orioles]. now, what are you saying exactly, that it was a lucky guess. or could it be that they were one of the best teams in baseball in 2007, and even 2006. i say, they finished in last place for several years in order to pick 3rd baseman longoria, starting pitcher price and short stop beckham. if i'm correct, and in fact they were aiming for these draft picks, that means they lost many many games on purpose .....this is a type of fixing. fixing that takes place in all sports that have the drafting system....nfl, nhl, nba |
So...the Royals have been absolutely awful for 25 years now. If I follow this line of thinking, then they should be winning the World Series any day now?
|
Quote:
the royals, since you mention it, picked up players like snyder, stodolka, griffin, and lubanski with their 1st round picks ....these are players who never see the light of day. i didn't tmind their pick this draft [crow] you think maybe the atlanta thrashers might have lost a few games on purpose the year Ilya Kovalchuk was in the draft. or better yet, if you had a team in 2003, the season ovechkin was becoming available in the draft, you might lose some extra games as to finish in last place overall as to pick up this superstar. drafting is key in the success of a franchise. finishing in last place, even though your team is capable of making the play-offs is quite common. that requires fixing games. |

the massive amounts of money that are wagered in the nfl, is on the pointspread. they don't need to alter very much to be under or over a spread. if there is the equivilant money of 2 nuclear bombs on the line, that will either end up in their hands or in the people's hands, which hands do you think it will end up in? the nfl is in existance, and is funded by the money that is gambled. the kind of balances that are in the air in each season, especially play-off time, is greater than the money that the nhl, nba, nfl, and mlb make combined. this money is what its all about, and no grown men playing with a ball are going to mess with the balance of that money. it is all under control, and the anual gross is greater than most countries make. i guess the real question here is, who's on top of this pyramid? i can tell you that they're not local |
Is it...The Illuminati?
So, let's summarize: 1) The ultimate outcome of NFL, and most other sports, is based on who gets drafted, which is in turn based upon who finishes last? 2) So much money is bet on NFL games (let's just leave it at that for the sake of argument) that it is bad business for the outcome of a given game, or at least the point spread, not to be known with certainty before the contest begins? So, knowing what you know, please provide me with the winners of the first round of the playoffs? Because I can get by just on a win/lose bet easily, I don't need the riskier proposition of a bet on the spread. |
Quote:
So what specifically do they do to not make the spread? What exactly do they alter? And who are they? Also, why did the Eagles lose by so much (24-0)? |
That's easy...to increase the bets on the Cowboys to win, so that the odds are higher against the Iggles. Then, when they win the game, more money is there to be made. I think he referenced that concept earlier.
|
OK, granted there's money of Biblical proportions bet on each game, but the franchises aren't seeing that money. That's all peripheral to the actual teams, so they must be throwing games for draft choice.
Unless the gamblers are "tipping" the owners. Hmm, so when a franchise is valued at say a billion dollars, it's not because of TV revenues and t shirt sales. |
bruce, to help you see it a little more clearly, there's been an nfl game with an 18 billion dollar differential.
thats a plus or a minus. coincidently, the people lost....or you think maybe it wasn't a coincidence. do you really think 18 billion dollars is left to chance on wether eli manning or tom brady throw the ball well? if the nfl had to depend on tv revenues and t-shirt sales, it would have shut down last millennium. |
OK, so you're saying the team owners are owned by gambling interests... or are the gambling interests.
|
what i'm saying is that the money out-weighs the sport... by far, and therefore controls it.
the crime commited, is through the media. the media which guides the perception. the perception which guides the money. the money, obviously, taken. |
I didn't see a poll choice for "The Cowboys are a bunch of pussies but will beat the Eagles anyway."
|
3 of the 4 games this weekend are rematches of last weekend...I think the Eagles will take this one.
|
I am highly skeptical of the Eagles winning this weekend.
I mean we are talking McNabb here. The guy that blamed "youth" for the dismal performance of last weekend. Youth? Last I checked the QB who repeatedly missed open targets would and should shoulder some, if not most of the blame for a team scoring a total of ZERO points. Him taking a leadership role would have gone a lot farther than blaming the "kids" that have been covering his lame ass all year. Then again if they lose, maybe McNabb gets traded/released/goes away. |

Film at 11:00. |
did I mention that Whip is nvts?
wow. Imagine you're a huge Cowboys fan. You have season tickets, and they're good seats. you got to watch the boys pummell the Eagles last weekend...and this week....they're coming back for seconds. the only thing better than beating the Eagles 24-0 is beating the Eagles in the playoffs. i don't care if it's 7-6. If we can beat these cocksuckers this week, I'll guarantee a SuperBowl appearance. We might lose to the Colts.....but we'll get there. COWBOOOOOOYYYYYS! |
if the cowboys take out the eagles, you would very likely be in the superbowl, but you'd be facing the chargers, not the colts
|
So, who's going to generate the most money in this Cowboy/Eagles match?
I was going to ask who was going to win, but since that's irrelevant... |
The money is heavily lop-sided on the cowboys.
nfl network is bombarding this game, guiding the money. regardless, the eagles are clearly the superior team on both sides of the ball. its too bad for the cowboys as they would have easily eliminated the vikings in minnesota next week. |
So, because most bets are on the Cowboys to win, they will lose, right? Because that's how the most money will be made, instead of it being on the spread? I need this to be a predication with the gambling argument backing it up.
|

they can take the money regardless of the winner |
how you feelin now whip? down by 20 at the half....
still think the fix is in? |
i never said all games are fixed.
how am i feeling? amazing actually, thanks 4 asking. sports dont effect my emotions |
seriously?
is that a good thing? I have to admit that I am strongly effected by the outcome of meaningless sporting events of the dallas cowboys variety. |
Quote:
you've been miserable for the longest time. |
yeah.... I wanted to talk to you about that...
let's meet in the Cowboys @ Vikings thread.....or did you want to meet at the Eagles @ Offseasonville thread ??? |
ummm, i didn't expect the eagles to make the play-offs this season.
i didn't put a penny on them to win the superbowl, nfc or the nfc east when the season started, despite them being favorited. i have a more realistic view from where i'm sitting. |
Whip, I gotta ask - What does this shining example of a game do to your theory?
