Reg. Joe in Iraq

Anyone want to send Reg. Joe something in Iraq? He has forwarded his snail mail address there. We should put something together...

Pie 07-26-2009 07:03 PM

Count me in.

TheMercenary 07-26-2009 07:09 PM

I would love to help and contribute.

classicman 07-26-2009 07:21 PM

I'm in for sure! Lemme know what we need to do.

Aliantha 07-26-2009 07:46 PM

It's funny that this thread should come up now. I was just saying to Dazza this morning that I'm going to put a care package together for my cousin who's currently serving in Afghanistan.

I'd like to contribute fro Joe too (and why not Big Sarge?) but it might be difficult being over here. Let me know how I can work it UT. Maybe I can send you another tip and you can get something to pop in on my behalf?

monster 07-26-2009 07:50 PM

So here's a suggestion (if UT is willing to shop and mail):

If those who have done a stint in the forces overseas could post some suggested wishlists, then the rest of us could say what we'd like to buy (avoids too much duplication), add a message for RJ if desired, and then hit the tip jar with the required amount plus a little for postage and a little in general appreciation of the cellar, and UT could maybe shop, ship and include a list of contributors and their good wishes?

monster 07-26-2009 07:51 PM

(I'm in, btw)

xoxoxoBruce 07-26-2009 07:51 PM

I'm in. I suggest we ask him what he/they need the most.

Undertoad 07-26-2009 08:16 PM

I have asked Reg. Joe what he wants and/or needs.

monster 07-26-2009 08:26 PM

even better. wasn't sure if he had regular email.

xoxoxoBruce 07-26-2009 08:39 PM

Oh, and tell him not to be shy about detailing his wants and needs. Let us determine what we can, or cannot, do. :thumb:

I see you, Joe, so post already and tell us what will help you out. Leg wax? breathmints for your buddies? whale penis?

regular.joe 07-27-2009 09:15 PM

Monster you are funny. If you could put Ducky in a box with an air hose and some cookies that would be great. Ya'll give me a day or so to think about it and i'll post something in here. Thanks, ya'll are the best.

monster 07-27-2009 10:13 PM

is it hot there?

;)

monster 07-27-2009 10:17 PM

btw, payoff is a vid of you and your buddies parodying the Cebu prisoners ;) Oh Ok then, just defend freedom and all that..... :D

regular.joe 07-28-2009 02:46 PM

Is that the prisoners doing the Thriller dance?

monster 07-28-2009 02:55 PM

yeah, and many others. There is much youtube of soldiers dancing in Iraq

regular.joe 07-28-2009 07:59 PM

That most definitely will not be me.

Kinky . . . . .

No dancing, but my nephew had a picture taken of him holding a cardboard sign that said "Fallujah Sucks!"

monster 07-28-2009 08:29 PM

I've seen a lot of pics of soldiers holding cardboard signs. In fact, from what I've seen on youtube and other places, I'm thinking Sharpies, flattened packing boxes and a selection of sunglasses in funky styles are high on the priority list.

Personally, I'm a believer in googly eyes making everything (especially guns) funnier, so I'd like part of my contribution to be a selection of googly eyes and some elmer's glue. thanks, UT.

regular.joe 07-29-2009 04:24 PM

I've talked it over with some of the guys and here is the list.

Christmas tree lights, a couple of Japanese lanterns, some tiki torches. We will build a nice smoking/hang out area next to our hooch, and post up a sign with the Cellar logo, and call the place "The Cellar", in honor of ya'll. I'll take pics and post them up on here. Power here is 220 so the lights have to work on a 220 circuit.

If ya'll can send that along with what ever else you like, that would be great.

I'll even find a place to put the googely eyes.

Flint 07-29-2009 04:31 PM

I will help with this. How do I participate?

Undertoad 07-29-2009 06:31 PM

Make em LED lights, low power consumption. You'd think it would be hard to find Christmas lights, but I have right here in my hands the first contribution, a string of 60 Philips LED lamps that I just didn't get around to using last year.

Here's how the rest of it goes... anything else, PM me, and I will send you my address to ship to. You send it to me, I send it to regjoe. Tuesday August 18th will be the date I'll ship it. If something gets to me after August 18th, I will burn, consume, or resell it, my preference. This probably means that international folks have much less time, and they might want to consider a Paypal donation towards shipping instead.

Please consider the shipping weight for your item when choosing.

There appear to be many fine Japanese lanterns on ebay. As for Tiki torches, you mean the kind that burn oil? Do you have, like, citronella oil or whatever, because wouldn't it be illegal to ship that?

regular.joe 07-29-2009 08:21 PM

No worries on fuel for the tiki's.

Thanks Tony and all. Ya'll rock.

Undertoad 07-29-2009 08:32 PM

What is the shape of the plug for the circuit? OK if we send along a converter?

TheMercenary 07-29-2009 08:41 PM

Joe, if you might pm me a mailing address and a contact I will send you a few boxes of cigars.

are they 220 though?

If we send the top part of the tiki lanterns, can you find long poles to put them on? or do you want the whole thing, Joe?

do you need cocktail glasses, M*A*S*H style?

TheMercenary 07-29-2009 09:28 PM

We use to send ETOH in IV bags to get past the mail. They catch most of the contriband so don't send anything that will get him in trouble. Seriously.

monster 07-29-2009 10:05 PM

ETOH?

(Did i suggest anything contraband? <<paranoid in MI)

DucksNuts 07-30-2009 04:30 AM

Im in....well....Im not sure what youre planning on doing with the air hose, but Im game :)

Oh crap, can you imagine me over there with ALLLLLLL those guys in uniform....wow..mmmm..heat...uniforms.....men......

DucksNuts 07-30-2009 04:34 AM

HEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYY.....monmon, they need the obligatory dirty girl calander for their watering hole....yeah? cellar themed?

I can only think of inappropriate dirty stuff when I think of army guys, so, can I just chip in and someone who has a clue hook them up?

capnhowdy 07-30-2009 06:32 AM

I'm in.

xoxoxoBruce 07-30-2009 11:30 AM

I remember Mike Yon writing, some time ago, that the guys (and ladies) in Iraq can always use things like toothpaste, deodorant, soap, razors, band-aids, snacks that travel well, playing cards, and dark green tee shirts. No aerosol cans, though.

Regjoe doesn't want to scatter his address all around... we agreed I'd have it, and then once he gave it to me, I immediately started the thread. PM me for my address, I get everything together and ship one box.

regular.joe 07-30-2009 03:26 PM

I am, this time around, what I would normally call a staff puke and pogue. So, all of the tooth paste, deodorant, soap and razors are available. Just sayin.

xoxoxoBruce 07-31-2009 03:02 AM

OK, so booze, drugs and naked midgets it is then. :thumb:

capnhowdy 07-31-2009 05:58 AM

To save on shipping maybe we should replace the midgets with Ethiopians.

monster 07-31-2009 10:57 PM

I got the googly eyes today....

Thanks anyhow, I already have it.

richlevy 08-01-2009 08:31 AM

I've got an American Flag made of LED lights that I've never tried to use at home due to homeowner association issues. Assuming I can find it. I would assume that adapters would be needed for any electrics/electronics from the US.

monster 08-03-2009 10:42 PM

Box weighs just less than 2lb and will be on it's way to you first thing tomorrow, thanks Tony. and we'll hit the tip jar when we get back from vacation

Flint 08-03-2009 10:46 PM

Did we figure out the electricity thing?

Undertoad 08-03-2009 11:54 PM

No. I put a little research into it but was led on several different trails.

DucksNuts 08-04-2009 04:10 AM

Hey UT, can i get some things from the shop aus website and have them sent to your house please?

Undertoad 08-04-2009 10:29 AM

Certainly, check your PMs

Nirvana 08-12-2009 12:00 PM

UT please PM an address for me I finally have something for the box! =D

Undertoad 08-12-2009 01:22 PM

This is done, and by the way, shipping costs are all accounted-for by donors at this point -- but if you want to use the tip mug to chip in an additional amount, I will spend it on additional items, which I'll buy the day before shipping. Just specify on the tip mug form that this is for reg joe.

classicman 08-12-2009 01:32 PM

Done & done - both my monthly contribution and a lil something for him.

Pie 08-12-2009 07:46 PM

Just hit the tip jar for Joe; I'm at a low creative ebb. Please exercise your awesomeness to come up with something, UT. . . . Thanks!

DucksNuts 08-14-2009 06:14 AM

Did you get my stuff Mr Toad?

Undertoad 08-14-2009 06:54 AM

Yours is the one from "Simply Australian"?

monster 08-14-2009 10:13 PM

Did you get ours? didja didja? it's not massively creative but we were rushing off on vacation.... will hit the tip jar soon, it's looking a little empty
