Land of the Lost

going to see it tonight. I have a date with this hot chick. I might try the hole in the popcorn box trick.

Flint 06-12-2009 10:33 AM

Dude, you are Will Ferrell. Just whip your wang out in the lobby.

DanaC 06-12-2009 10:42 AM

let us know how it goes (the film....I think we all know what happens with the hot chick and the popcorn). I am considering going seeing it when it shows here.

glatt 06-12-2009 10:56 AM

previews looked good. Reviews were mixed, but I'd like to hear your take on it after you see it.

classicman 06-12-2009 10:57 AM

I already saw it - thought it was great - LOL funny and thats saying a lot for me. Its a stupid funny movie.
I won't say any more about the movie so I don't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet.

Shawnee123 06-12-2009 11:38 AM

I'm sorry...don't hate me...BUT:

I don't like Farrell. I don't think he's funny (apologies to my little brother, who thinks he's one of the funniest ever, along with Sandler, who I also don't find funny.)

But, mostly: STOP BASTARDIZING MY CHILDHOOD MEMORIES. I was at the perfect age to love Land of the Lost when it was on. It was corny and silly and full of Sleestaks that were supposed to be scary but we all laughed and laughed at them.

ymmv

And good luck on your date: are you SURE she's not out of your league? ;)

DanaC 06-12-2009 11:46 AM

Oh she's totally out of his league. He's batting way above :p

He must have some super secret techniques. The mind boggles *grins*

Shawnee123 06-12-2009 11:58 AM

Nothing wrong with shooting for the stars: I bet in a few years they'll be married (to each other) with a couple kids and they'll actually like each other still! Stranger things have happened. :)

What?! Are you high!? Seriously?!
I mean, yeah, not all the movies he's in are funny.. I'll admit that in a heart beat.. but Farrell himself? You've seen Pearl the Landlord right?

DanaC 06-12-2009 12:06 PM

I love Farrell when he goes on the Daily Show. He's adorable.

Yeah.

I mean, it's ok...but...

I'm not saying I'm not high, but there's just something about him that rubs me the wrong way.

A lot of things I find funny others don't, so I think it's just a difference in humor.

glatt 06-12-2009 12:09 PM

What about back on SNL?

ESPECIALLY not on SNL. That cheerleader bit? Not. Funny. (to me, my opinion, not dissing anyone...disclaimer disclaimer.)

Ahhhh, shut it.

dar512 06-12-2009 01:27 PM

The only Ferrell movie I've ever seen was Elf. I was underwhelmed.

Crimson Ghost 06-12-2009 06:10 PM

So, this Farrell person, is he some sort of comedian?

lumberjim 06-12-2009 09:17 PM

what a fun movie. the script is a piss, and the flow was perfect. it's a stupid movie, but I want to own it on DVD. It WILL bear repeating. the guy that plays Will is really dry and surprisingly funny. This could have been a good (younger) Jim Carey part too, I think.

what started as a shitty day at work (5 deals before noon) ...i got in a decent work out and sweated my aggressions out, then had a nice swim in the heated pool while chatting with jinx, and then dinner at Mac Donald's: $26 eaten in the car......2 adults and 2 kids movie tix: $36; medium popcorn and one bottle of water: $10 ....a fun time laughing with the kids.....priceless.

ok...im ghey...but i had a great night, so go screw.

Shawnee123 06-12-2009 09:32 PM

I'm glad you had a good time on your date. Sounds like a great night!

jinx 06-12-2009 09:33 PM

It was funny. I lol'd.

TheMercenary 06-12-2009 11:08 PM

Farrell has done some pretty good stuff. This movie, however, is a movie I will more likely wait to see come out on DVD. The turn around now days from screen to DVD is a few short months.

Not at all Jim. Sounds like you had a great time.

I wish I could take your excellent advice but Mrs. Dar is helping her Dad recuperate from knee replacement surgery, so I'm Mr. Mom for a while.

DanaC 06-13-2009 04:24 AM

That sounds such good fun :)

classicman 06-14-2009 09:08 PM

Glad you liked it Jim - Sounds like a fun time was had by all.

I have to agree on the subject of Will Farrell. Elf was the final straw for me. It just went further downhill from there....

As for Sandler.... eh well I have to admit I his humor is pretty gross and juvenile, but he cracks me up at times and I can take his stuff a lot more than Farrell's.

Sheldonrs 06-15-2009 04:57 PM

Not a fan of Will Farrell's movies but he's funny during interviews.

DanaC 06-15-2009 05:15 PM

Hi Siochain! Welcome to the Cellar :)

Now, see, I really like Farrell. But I didn't like Elf. Then again, I think that was really aimed at a lower age group. It wasn't really meant for me to enjoy :P My youngest niece, however, adored it.

lumberjim 06-15-2009 06:11 PM

A funny part that stands out in my memory...that you won't see on the trailers:

In the early part of the movie, they get chased into a cave by a T Rex. It realizes it can't get to them, so it stomps off.

Will: 'is he gone?'

Dr Rick Marshall(Will Farell): yeah

Will: 'pussy'

DanaC 06-15-2009 06:14 PM

hahaha. that's funny.

classicman 06-15-2009 08:56 PM

I liked the part right before that where Dr. Marshall laughs it off and refers to the old adage - he has the brain the size of a walnut...

spudcon 07-03-2009 10:13 AM

Shawnee, Farrell and Sandler aren't funny to me either. Not many comedians left. Bill Murray can be when he isn't trying to be artsy.

Shawnee123 07-03-2009 10:19 AM

Spud, did you see the link I posted (funny youtube links?) of Tootsie? The scene with Hoffman, Garr, and Bill Murray...he was hilarious. I've seen him be un-hilarious, but when he's on, he's on.

Maybe I'm just old. ;)

Sheldonrs 07-09-2009 01:24 PM

I used to love watching the TV show on Saturday mornings, mostly because the actor who played the oldest son (Wesley Ur) was hot!

But of course, just like George Takai, he waits until his ass has more wrinkles than my sheets Sunday morning to admit he's gay!!!

Shawnee123 07-09-2009 01:54 PM

Shel, it's not about what's on teh ghey outside, it's what's ghey inside that counts.

I know. And if they want THIS gay inside, they need to come out sooner!!!!

:D

Shawnee123 07-09-2009 02:51 PM

I had a crush on that one Sleestak.

I don't like Farrell and Sandler, but I think you're being pretty unfair about Shawnee.

Shawnee123 07-10-2009 05:12 PM

Hey, yeah, wait a durn minute. I'm funny. I crack myself up all the time.
