McDonlads or Burger King
gun to your head. must pick one
|
Shoot me then. There are things I like from both of them. The southwest ranch chicken salad from Mickey D's cant be beat and BK's cheesy tots are the bomb.
|
Dude. Wendy's.
|
Wendy's.
Gun to the head for a burger choice? What is this, Pulp Fiction? |
Royale with Cheese.
|
Wendy's.
|
I was faithful to McDonald's for most of my childhood but flipped to Burger King when I got to college. Now it's either BK or Wendy's. (Although Wendy's square burgers irritate me.)
|
Flame broiling really does make a difference. BK all the way (of those two.)
|
I am freaking starving. :(
|
|
I worked at both as a kid. At BK, your burger is flame broiled,... then given buns, then both buns and meat are steamed for up to a half hour, then prepared, then microwaved. The result is a burger that is one single unit, bun adhering to cheese, cheese adhering to meat.
Go ahead, try to take the roll off your BK burger. I dareya. |
Is McDonald's better? How does their process compare?
I'm not a massive fan of Burger King, but I loathe McDonald's for non-food reasons. (Though God knows the food is bad enough.) In high school, when we would go on away games for soccer or basketball, we'd always stop at McDonald's for dinner. ALWAYS. Everybody got tired of it. We begged the coach... we offered to cover the cost of his food (after we learned that they give a free meal to a bus driver, we thought maybe that was the attraction). But, no, he insisted. |
BK makes food that I can eat without special ordering. I also think their versions of the same things taste way better.
|
McD's fries and coffee are hands down better.
BK makes a superior chicken or fish sandwich. BigMac or Whopper... ... I just can't decide. It's almost apples and oranges, they both have their pros and cons I try not to eat at either, but when they do the 2for1 EggMcMuffin, I usually give in. |
The double quarter-pounder with cheese.
Everything else is crap. |
Both. But not the BK closest to my house, 'cause it's got mice.
McD (NOT "McDonlads") for reliability and quick service. BK for some better food choices. BTW, those BK Klingons are really disturbing! |
I liked the Sponge Bob square butts commercial.
|
I think McD's process has changed since I worked there. At the time all burgers were grilled, prepared identically and then put in warming bins. Since then they've gone to some new process, so that you can order your double quarter-pounder with cheese with NO ONIONS, and they will do it pretty fast. That wasn't possible with the old system.
I do know that they started grilling both sides of the burger at the same time, ala the george foreman grill. |
Over here at McDonalds, the kitchen crew makes up the burgers as the orders come in. They have trays of all the parts, and just make them up to order.
It's crap food, but it just makes me feel so special. eta: I don't like BK (Hungry Jacks here). I find their burgers pretty bland. I'm not a big fan of McDonalds either, but if I had to choose I'd go with McD's. |
Kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out.
|
if i was hungry at lunch time....and there was a table with a Double Quarter Pounder with cheese™, no onions sitting there all hot and fresh and ready to get eaten.......but next to it there was a Double Whopper™ with cheese, no onions.....all steaming and tasty looking with real lettuce and tomatoes on it...plus it has ALL the condiments, like ketchup and mayo and mustard and pickles.....
I'm eating the one that you need both hands to hold onto. |
The onions are the best part.
|
...to throw away before they stink your whole burger up.
|
There was a little burger joint right outside of Sav'h in the late 60,s called "Woody's". Their feature burger was the "Big Woody". It was hard for us to order a "Big Woody" and keep a straight face. Back then, we had never even heard of 'wood' as we know it today. I still don't know why it was so goddamn funny. May have been the weed.

Shoot me. Twice.

White Castle

McD does better breakfast, but gimme a whopper any day of the week.
|
That's about the way I see it too, Pie.
|
Have always gone to McD's, not sure why. Anyways, I prefer their fries to BK's.

I dont mind Macca's new chicken burgers over here, but I still prefer Hungry Jacks |
BK does some nasty fries. AND they only do sauce in squeezy packets. This is absolutely no good at all. The fries on top get sauce saturated and soggy, while the ones on the bottom are bland and nothingy.
Also, I don't like tomato in a burger. Bleurgh. Saying that, BK have better adverts. I never see a BK advert these days but I want a burger. Every now and then they do spicy ones too. Mmmmmmmmmmm. Never have them, but thanks for the idea, y'know? I think I'm going to have a burger next Monday. Nom nom nom. Won't be a Burger King though. The nearest one is 20 miles away. |
So, ahh, how would you feel about an "Aussie" burger?
Beef pattie, bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato, onion, and to Aussie it up, pineapple and beetroot. Yah seriously. |
I love freaking the yanks out with our burgers....but you know whats better...they squeal when they see you can get pancakes with ICE CREAM for breakfast!!!
I like my *the lot* burger with no lettuce, warm lettuce is manky, and hold the tommies if they are not is season. |

I don't know why...because it surely tastes the least like actual food...but McD's every time. Double cheeseburger, or a qtr pounder with cheese. This is the food of the Gods. That's why it needs no actual nutritional value...it's for immortals.
BK tastes like actual food. Their cheeseburgers taste like...well, as I say food. Which is nice an' all. But nothing comes close to a McDs cheeseburger. I fell in love with them when I was 12 years old and they have become my benchmark for all cheeseburgers. I occasionally go through phases of McD's breakfast buns. Mmmm...sausage and egg mcmuffin. Again, the food of the gods. |
McD's breakfast burritos are pretty great. However, McD's doesn't have a single burger that tops anything from BK. Seems kinda ironic for a company that made its fortunes on burgers.
|
I tend to agree with Pie..McDonald's breakfast is pretty good. I loves me a couple of Egg McMuffins. And OJ.
But for lunch or supper, BK's chicken sandwich is best. Whatever happened to the French and Italian styles anyway? |
People still eat generic fast food?

Oh dear.
I tried the Mickey Dee's Iced Coffee. It was good. And there's one on my way to work. |

Bad poll... couldn't even pick a decent fast food restaurant. Had to settle on the nasty's of greasy cuisine. :headshake Culvers is where it's at when it comes to the burger and fry. But, okay... I gotta pick. I hope my heart don't explode when I click on my... choice. :vomit: |
I like the bigmac but I have noticed they seem so much smaller the last time I bought one. In high school they were humongous.
The fries ...the fries. I love mcd's fries. Burger King's Mocha Joe is quite nice though. |
Oh bloodyhell, how did I miss the return of beauregard? I was only thinking about you the other week. Wondered where you were at :P
|
I still prefer Fuddrucker's for yummy burgers. mmmm, ostrichburgers!

Honestly, I can't hardly stand eating out most places because the price is out of proportion to the taste and effort required in making it. You can buy a shitty burger at McDonald's for a couple of bucks or you can make one at home that tastes infinitely better and takes about the same amount of time and money. The other option is to go to a sit-down restaurant and buy an overpriced burger that is cooked correctly about 10% of the time. Actually, I take that back. Many restaurants are using those Costco-pucks, usually without bothering to defrost them. |

Keep in mind, I haven't eaten out myself in literally months; I agree with your general sentiment. But time, oh, it all takes so much time... |

Plus, WTF is that 20 minutes in the oven thing? My method is to smash meat into a burger shape, salt and pepper it, splash on a little Worcestershire sauce during its 5 minutes in the skillet. Eat it on a paper plate or towel and you don't have any dishes but the skillet and whatever burn-prevention gear you need (I just use my fingers instead of a spatula, unless I'm doing a lot of cooking). |
Which is all well and good if you're cooking for one. Otherwise, you gotta squeeze four patties in that skillet, and then listen to the customers' wailing protests when you serve them a slab of hamburger with no bun, sides, or anything else.
I absolutely agree that planning ahead is key. I am not, however, so good at it. |
I chose BK, but I have to say I was impressed with the quality of the McD's in Bernalillo, NM. In Philadelphia, they're pretty disgusting.
|
You bad people.
You made me have a McDonalds breakfast this morning with all your posting an' that. You were whispering in my ear from the moment I woke up (well before the sun) and you rode on my shoulder on the bus saying, "Go on, you have to go past McDonalds to get to Tesco! Go on!" Yeah okay, bad me. But it's the first time this year and it's quarter past June. I forgive myself :ipray: And I loved it. |
Oh Lord, I could just eat a McD's breaky lol
