May 18, 2009: Prison Babies
Not prison babes unfortunately, prison babies. Babies born to women in prison.

No need to worry about children raised in a prison environment... Quote:

I've heard from the always-reliable souce, TV current affairs shows, that many poor women in the US commit crimes when pregnant so they can give birth in custody and receive free health care of a reasonable quality.
Can anyone confirm if this is true? It was quite a few years ago now. |
I wouldn't buy that, they can get health care without going to jail.
|
I was (and still am) sceptical... maybe it was illegals? Merc, do you have specialist knowledge?
|
If its true then I tip my hat to those women. Its a bloody clever way of looking after your kids.
|
Tip your hat to leeches on society, nice.
|
So, back to the Prison Babies....
Recipe, anyone? Or at least a prison themed nursery rhyme? rock a bye baby in the cell cot when the bomb blows the cell bars will rock and when the bars break the wire will fall and out will run mama, bubba, and all. |
They should have this written on that wall...
Twinkle, Twinkle little con You're in jail because of mom Behind the bars of steel she bore And now you live a prisoner |
Sounds like an interesting program.

But, yeah, I totally buy the bit about birthing them babies in jail. |
I try not to go all holier than thou and supermom and shit but.......
I'm all for this and I don't give a shit if it means the women are breaking laws to get free heathcare. I don't care about the women. But the babies' best chance is to be breastfed and loved and paid attention to. What's the chance of those things happening if these women gave birth on the outside? I could go further and suggest if the mom won't breastfeed or shouldn't becuse of drugs/diseases etc, or if they don't care about the child then 72 hours may be too long..... The women may have fucked up, but the babies are Innocent American Citizens.... |
Great.. Place of birth: Modoc County Jail.

Cellar death-metal lyrics coming up:
Society is a leech Nature is a whore Time is a thief Beauty is a bore... |
Quote:
Nature is a whore Time is a thief Beauty is a bore Science killed our God |
Our god was blinded by science? I'm pretty sure that was glatt's fault.
|
Society is a leech
Nature is a whore Time is a thief Beauty is a bore Science killed our God But we've got a killer bod |
Society is a leech
Nature is a whore Time is a thief Beauty is a bore Science killed our God But we've got a killer bod And this hand full of pills |
Society is a leech
Nature is a whore Time is a thief Beauty is a bore Science killed our God But we've got a killer bod And this hand full of pills But we won't pay our bills |
This is possibly the most depressing IoD ever.
|
I dunno, I think it's kind of hopeful. Think about it this way: they wouldn't bother to do the program if it didn't accomplish its goal of reducing recidivism. That means that at least some of those women will form a bond with their baby, grow a sense of responsibility to it, and get their shit together for the first time in their lives.
