If you had a boat

What would you name it? And why?

Merc's is called Rugby Queen, that's pretty cool.

feel free to take the fantasy further/brag if you have one..... ;0

We have an inflatable dinghy called HMS Beestmonster. Except it's our real last name. Written on it in Sharpie. With a phone number I think. For when the kids let it get blown to the other side of the lake.

If we has a real boat, I think "HMS Besstmonster" would be a really cool name.

This where we got our name for her:

Quote:

rugby queen 12 thumbs up
A woman who shows up to the "after party" post rubgy game. The party typically includes lots of drinking and this woman is sang to by the players. Her anatomical features are enhanced by song from head to toe. It (the rugby queen tradition) is a joy for all attending.
Julie came to the party after the game, she was pronounced "The Rugby Queen" and a song broke out about her.

I also loved the analogy to the Bogart movie.

We were going to rename our boat "This Way Up" after we had so many problems with it.

zippyt 04-26-2009 10:14 PM

I was thinking this same thing today

Aliantha 04-26-2009 10:17 PM

sweetwater 04-27-2009 09:59 AM

My sister had a canoe, and the suggested name was "Ican". She never used it, so youcan. ;)

oops...wrong thread

I have no idea, but for some reason, whenever the subject of boat naming comes up, I flash back to The Flintstones.

Fred and Barney have won or bought or, something, a boat. They can't agree on a name. One says "Nautilus," one says "Sea Queen," and neither will budge. They decide to compromise and take the first three letters of each--Nau-Sea.

sweetwater 04-27-2009 01:04 PM

I used to see a nice fishing boat docked in Poulsbo, WA that had a name I liked: "King's Ransom". We had a old boat that never went into the water called Archeopteryx (fun with "Ark" sound at the beginning of the name).

I have a boat. I christened her "Harmony". She suggested this name because of the waves I built into her deck are in harmony with the waves under her hull.

The first picture is a detail of the wave design on the stern deck, taken in my basement during construction.

The second picture is me landing on the beach, taken during her inaugural cruise. You can see the wave design runs the length of the boat

You are entirely too cool.

I fear power tools.

lumberjim 04-27-2009 05:24 PM

I covet the wooden kayak, but i would be afear'd to float it. plastic scraping along the bottom of the creek is no big deal.....that would be horrifying in a wooden one.

Yeah, you sure don't want to scrape your wood in the creek!

capnhowdy 04-27-2009 09:21 PM

That's when you need wood so hard you can't scrape it.

Gorgeous boat V.... really, that's pretty awesome.

I love my boat. It's a 14ft Perception Monteray. It's fast. Has a lot of stickers but doesn't have a name.

Family nickname I guess, since they still call me by it :D

Never occurred to me to name mine.

The design is a Mill Creek 13, by CLC. But I made a few minor design changes when I built it, so it's a variation on a Mill Creek 13.

dar512 04-28-2009 09:21 AM

Hey V, that's some awesome woodwork. Is that lake Sammamish in the second photo?

dar512 04-28-2009 09:25 AM

Wow, between BigV and Glatt, I'm feeling neglectful. When did the memo go out that we were supposed to build a boat?

sweetwater 04-28-2009 09:30 AM

Building them is the easy part. Naming them is much more difficult. That's why they 'forgot' to do so. :right:

TheMercenary 04-29-2009 07:49 AM

Cool kayaks. We have a sit-on-top sea kayak, I sold one last year, and a Old Town 16.4 canoe that is in beautiful condition but I have been unable to sell. We had lots of fun with them when our kids were little. I don't think we ever named them.

The memo only went to The Chosen. You are obviously not on the list. Ignore the heavy rain that may begin soon.

I need a second armadillo, does anyone have one? I need a female.

capnhowdy 04-29-2009 08:34 PM

If you get the female, will you still need the second armadillo?

It's been my experience that one should always keep a back-up armadillo handy.

capnhowdy 04-30-2009 06:47 PM

It's been my experience that when dealing with females, one should have a backup everything.:bolt:
