April 7, 2009: Easter Eggs
These are pretty cool and it turns out, easy to do.

Peel them and receive accolades. ;) http://www.barefootkitchenwitch.com/...ring-eggs.html |
My chickens will be impressed!
They are not easily impressed. |

Oh thanks. I'm going to try these for my nieces' Easter baskets! :)
edit: Oh, they're peeled. Not for baskets. I will try a nice display to take to my brother and sis-in-law's house. |

What's the big deal? The chicken who laid these is obviously a slut with multiple baby daddies.
:p |
Maybe the Octochicken? :haha:

These would be fun to make deviled eggs out of. |
No, not the same as the old egg coloring tablets... man, they were nasty. :haha:
Food coloring was liquid until they came out with gel, now you can get both. I think the gel is more intense. From the McCormick site; Quote:

My egg making experiment is underway. Turns out I don't know how to hard boil an egg, correctly, so I referenced the internet but had to work it out with this recipe (the whole "don't crack the egg" and "you want the eggs to crack" conundrum.)
It will be a while before they're done...maybe about 6 more? I hope it works so I can post pretty after-pics. |
eeek. I bet those bowls will be stained. Oh well.
|
When my urine looks like that, the doctor gives me Cipro. :D
|
Luckily, for you or your friends, there are no eggs in your urine.

I refuse to color eggs. The last time I did, my eldest wrote naughty things on the eggs with invisible color and then I dyed them only to find "I HAVE A BIG SCHLONG" and various other penis descriptions on them.

Well here are mine. It worked, mostly. They were hard to peel and I lost a couple. The yellow ones didnt' work as well, don't know why. What should I do with the extra two bunny holes?
|
Great job Shawnee! They actually look like spider web eggs.
|
I know. I think orange and black would be cool: a new tradition, Halloweenie Eggs!
|
I am going to raku the eggs again today, and bore you guys with it again this year. ;)
|
Bravo, Shawnee! Beautiful eggs! :notworthy
The article in the link said that yellow didn't work well. Fill the other two holes with raisinets. ;) |
Brianna you made me laugh out loud.
Shawnee - they're gorgeous! I must do them next year. Hopefully I'll have a place of my own so they'll be a real surprise for Mum. She loves egg salad sandwiches, so as long as I do the chilled version there won't be any wastage either. |
Death By Egg count: zero!
They were a hit. Thanks for the idea Bruce. Next time I really must read all directions before starting. I was going back and forth between a couple different "how to boil the perfect egg" sites and the recipe. I'm so linear. They are fun to do, thanks for the compliments. :) |

I did the same.
Got my 9 chickens to cough up 7 eggs. Hard boiled them. Then cracked them. Then dripped the coloring right on them to capillary into the cracks. Worked great! Then peeled them. Of course having three separate food coloring kits and not a one had red in it. {sigh} Unfortunately everyone around here said things like, "Ugh what happened to them?". Instead of, the more desirable, "Oh how cool!", I was hoping for. |
My raku eggs didn't turn out good this year.............But hey it was fun. I couldn't get a photo that adequately shows the metallic color...sorry guys! :)
