congrats, ali, and daryll! welcome max!

Aliantha 03-15-2009 03:40 AM

Thanks everyone. :) It was all pretty straight forward really. My water broke a bit after 2.30am and I started labouring properly at around 6am. He was born an hour and a half later at 7.30am and weighed in at 7lb3oz or 3.2kg.

We're home now. Everything went so swimmingly that they had no objections to my coming home instead of spending the night, so I guess it's game on now.

We have pics which I'll sort out tomorrow. We even have pics of the placenta for those who might need inspiration for their recipes.

Once again, thanks for all your kind wishes. They are very much appreciated.

Oh yeah, looks like I might have more luck breast feeding this time round. He's had three feeds now and seems to be very contented. Here's hoping my milk comes in properly in a few days time.

DanaC 03-15-2009 05:40 AM

I really should know better than to surf the cellar while eating lunch! Thanks for that, Ali!

wolf 03-15-2009 09:47 PM

Lovely placenta you've got there.

I think the slimy, just out shot is absolutely adorable. What a sweetie!

Aliantha 03-16-2009 12:03 AM

Sorry Zen...you're welcome though. ;)

Wolf, I got into trouble for bathing him. Apparently the trend now is to leave all the afterbirth on the baby for 24 hours. Helps with immunity apparently.

I hadn't thought too much about my placenta being nice. Mav said it was yuck when he saw the pic. He said the same thing about the black poo. :D

Queen of the Ryche 03-16-2009 09:11 AM

Woo Hoo!!! Congrats!!! Pics! Pics! Pics!!!

Fascinating, I had never heard anything like that. Now I'm off to google...

Flint 03-16-2009 02:40 PM

They're really lovely, and completely unexpected. Being into day 4 now I've become quite emotional and let me tell you, when I got home yesterday and they were here I just started blubbering. It means so much to me that you would care enough to think of doing something that sweet. Thankyou to whoever it was who had the idea. I have my suspicions, but I guess if I were meant to know there'd have been a hint. Oh, and nice work with the whale penis reference. :D

Thankyou all for your well wishes. We're all doing well. I had over 6 hours sleep last night, and almost 8 the night before. He's feeding well and seems quite contended most of the time. I did wake this morning with an aching back, uterus and breasts though. So far so good with breast feeding. Hopefully by tomorrow my milk will be more or less in. Maybe I'll have more luck this time around. Here's hoping.

And here's a snap I took of Max last night. :)

Oh, what a sweetie!

Aliantha 03-17-2009 09:47 PM

Thanks Pie. :) We're pretty wrapped.

Undertoad 03-17-2009 09:49 PM

Well done all around.

Clodfobble 03-17-2009 11:08 PM

He has a very nice nose. Most babies have a squashed nose that doesn't start looking normal until the skull develops a bit. Glad to see him sleeping so mom can get some rest!

Message on Card: Dear Aliantha and Max, Congratulations and best wishes from all your friends at The Cellar.

Special Instructions: Please explain that I tried to order a whale penis but this was the closest they had. Don't worry, this is an in-joke, she will get it. Check cellar.org for the full story.
We'd hoped that the delivery dude would have to explain about the whale penis in person. I was hoping to hear how that went ...

Anyone who wishes to be involved in the sending of the flowers can make a contribution to the tip mug.

sweetwater 03-18-2009 07:01 AM

I don't think I was logged in when I browsed this thread before, so I may be repeating myself: congratulations to all, and welcome to earth, Max!

Shawnee123 03-18-2009 08:40 AM

Oh he's a beauty. Good job! :)

kerosene 03-18-2009 10:11 AM

What an adorable little boy! Congratulations to you, and your family.

Razzmatazz13 03-18-2009 11:21 AM

I *finally* found this thread! Argh!

He's ADORABLE! Moar photos, whenever possible, till he's 18, kthx :)

Decca 03-18-2009 02:39 PM

Ali, congratulations, hon. Happy (belated) birthday to Max as well! What a handsome little man you have there. The more pix, the better! Congrats to your whole family!

Aliantha 03-19-2009 01:16 AM

Thanks again guys. :)

We think he's pretty spectacular at the moment, especially since he's allowing us an average of about 7 hours sleep per night, which means life is a breeze really. I can't believe how lucky we've been.

We're all madly in love with him. It's a bit of a fight to go get him when he wakes from his sleeps. lol Dazza is learning how to be a Dad very quickly although he STILL hasn't changed a nappy yet! He does a lot of doting though...on both of us, so that kind of makes up for it for now. Things could change though. lol

Anyway, life is good. I'm a lucky woman.

Sundae 03-19-2009 03:44 PM

Darling, I'm so sorry I was away for this thread, as I'm sure you know.
You now have THREE beautiful boys (and one beaut of a man of course - blimey, didn't expect the face fungus!) and you are beautiful too.

Sorry me now being around has coincided with your special delivery.
All my love xxx

Aliantha 03-19-2009 06:09 PM

You've got to do your own thing sometimes mate. Your thoughts have been with me anyway. The card was lovely. :) Made my day completely when it arrived.

It's funny that you'd have responded here. I was just talking to Dazza about you...and in a good way too. xox

Aliantha 03-19-2009 06:38 PM

Oh...I found out who was behind the flowers! You've been caught being good! Give yourselves a gold star. :)

Sundae 03-20-2009 04:14 AM

Obv I meant "me NOT being around" as opposed to me NOW being around?!

I have my suspicions as to who was behind the flowers too, and they are a very good person.

Aliantha 03-20-2009 08:00 PM

It was a collective effort. :) Apparently there were phone calls involved and everything!
