The New Thread-a-thon PLedge Drive

The politicos are taking over the cellar. It is becoming a political forum.

We must pull together and stem the tide, people!

This is a call to action!
I need you to dig deep into the creative savings account you've been hoarding and withdraw as much new and interesting shit you can find there....and post new threads!

This thread is about your pledges. I need you to promise me some performance here. Can you give us 2 new threads this week? Maybe even one a day!?!?11

You know, you can feed an entire family of mothers that died on 9/11 at the WTC for just 2 threads a week!

need ideas? search google for them! steal them from other forums! don't bother searching to see if there is already a thread about it on the cellar! THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!

Operators are standing by to read your replies to this thread. DIG DEEP FOLKS, ONLY YOU CAN SAVE THE CELLAR!!

kerosene 03-04-2009 01:23 PM

Hurry up and finish your begging so we can get back to the Yanny performance, dammit!

footfootfoot 03-04-2009 01:41 PM

Jim, You are seriously underemployed at CHN. Squirrels before Pine or however the saying goes.

I'll dig.

lumberjim 03-04-2009 01:44 PM

I'm off today! but I have been monitoring you much more closely of late, it's true. And I find you lacking, sir. You of all people have been lax in silly thread starting these last few weeks.

how much can I put you down for? 4 threads this week? 5? pace yourself...the daylight savings time thread drive begins sunday.

Sundae 03-04-2009 01:49 PM

Can we have some non-political interseting ones rather than silly ones?
Silly ones only get really interesting through thread drift.

My healthy eating consultant (yawn) has set me "homework" this fortnight. Keep a food diary, paint my toenails - no, really - and eat two pieces of fruit a day.

My counsellor wants me to think of possible careers I could train for as a way of turning my sick leave and absence from the workplce into a learning opportunity. And I have to come up with at least one idea by next Tuesday.

And now you want me to start two threads a week.

Jeez. I'm not sure I can deal with this amount of pressure.

It's true, I have been spending responsible amounts of time on my new website and blog. I will have an extra glass of wine and think of a few threads.

I was thinking about an anonymous "Let's whine about our spouses and take other dwellars moral inventories." for starters. Might be entertaining.

The Cellar is not a forum, there are 15 forums in the Cellar, plus IOtD, Quality Images and Meta.
Just because the posters in the politics forum are more active, doesn't mean they are taking over the Cellar.
And maybe they wouldn't be so active in the Politics forum if they had more nudity and dirty jokes to distract them.

Sunday Girl has given us a great tour of Aylesbury, England which has attracted some new nostalgic members.
Clodfobble has provided, and drawn from posters, a lot of information on dealing with hyperactive children.
chrisinhouston and Dana have given us a new appreciation of parents.

The Cellar lives as long people are sharing their interests, observations, and lives.

Protip: if you use the New Posts button, it's easy to get into the habit of not following threads that don't matter to you. Threads you don't follow wind up in the "not been updated since your last visit but still contain unread posts" section, but that just reminds you that you aren't reading them.

Can you start a thread on each of your homework topics and we'll all join in?

That's the way I've always worked it (it's good to know that I've not been honing my pro tips here in teh Cellar in vain ... )

Aliantha 03-04-2009 04:51 PM

Maybe if those of you who like posting in other threads besides politics etc, spent more time posting on threads instead of slothing about in chat all the time you'd have yourselves a greater presence on the board.

Besides, politics and current events are only two of the forums. Most of us who post in those two also post in most of the other forums too. Maybe it's not the content you're bothered about but the posters.

HungLikeJesus 03-04-2009 04:59 PM

There are 18,535 threads in the Cellar. Why could we possibly need any more, when we're not using most of the ones that we have? And besides, it's a beautiful day. Go outside and play.

Aliantha 03-04-2009 05:01 PM

I'm not allowed!

If you look at the "I am..." thread, you'll know why.

HungLikeJesus 03-04-2009 05:08 PM

I don't go in the Health forum - I'm afraid I'll catch something. I hope it's nothing serious, Ali.

Aliantha 03-04-2009 05:14 PM

lol...well I don't think what I've got is catching, and no, everything will be fine. I'm just confined to the house for the next couple of weeks more or less.

This could be one of the reasons why I've been posting so much lately...in those horrible politics and current events threads. ;)

richlevy 03-04-2009 07:36 PM

I barely have enough energy for the click-a-day charity sites I frequent.

lumberjim 03-04-2009 08:17 PM

pledges, people. we need your pledges.

not excuses or explanations.
how
many
threads?

classicman 03-04-2009 08:24 PM

I think we need to bump a few old ones...

ZenGum 03-04-2009 09:02 PM

Pledges! We don't need no stinkin pledges!

No, really, we don't need pledges, we need threads.

monster 03-04-2009 09:19 PM

I started one-a-day so far before your stinking pledgathon. Now I feel duped... violated even. I was going to start another tonight but now I think I won't. I hate anything-athons.

and besides, bruce keeps killing the more narrative-type-threads with factness and actuality-type things. ;) Whatever happened to poetic license? :p

capnhowdy 03-04-2009 09:39 PM

Just think:
You can start a new thread and then.....

1).Someone else can clone it.
2). A fucking troll can fubar it.

C'mon folks. Whaddaya waiting for?

J/K... SRSLY

Razzmatazz13 03-04-2009 09:46 PM

I made one today...and I hardly never make them.

So take that jim!

Razzmatazz13 03-04-2009 09:48 PM

I pledge one more new thread, because apparently, it only counts if you pledge it.

lumberjim 03-04-2009 09:51 PM

fucking 24 posts later.....

someone finally gets IT.

the rest of you are dead to me

footfootfoot 03-04-2009 09:58 PM

eat us

monster 03-04-2009 10:14 PM

when you dance on my grave, I request a polka.

Razzmatazz13 03-04-2009 11:00 PM

Right yeah, now when do I get my cellar keychain?

kerosene 03-05-2009 08:18 AM

There. Now I made a new thread in the food forum.

kerosene 03-05-2009 08:22 AM

Actually I meant to put it in the food forum but I accidentally put it in the health forum. Crap.

monster 03-05-2009 08:22 AM

bt did you pledge it first?

.....Jim's gonna give you a pledgie!!!!11!1:eek:

Shawnee123 03-05-2009 08:25 AM

My threads end in a Death Chirp.

kerosene 03-05-2009 08:28 AM

Can I pledge it afterwards? Like say..."I was going to make a new thread...and I did."

I GOT it.
I just didn't fucking WANT it.

And this from a man who posts on another forum!
YOU are the one who has trouble with commitment.
How dare you try to turn that round on me?
Next time you mention your other forum, that's it. I won't even let you post me again, let alone PM me.
All my friends warned me about posters like you.
It's all commit to this and pledge that and then you're off in chat with people you haven't even known as long as me and sleeping with another Dwellar and then whoring about with new forum members and even questioning if the home we made together is the best place for you to be and I just can't take it any more I'm just sick of it I can't handle it and

OKAY

Fine.

I know what I can do.

It's okay, I'm calm now. I have a NASA nappy. I know how to hotwire a car. We need to sort this out face to face.

Trilby 03-05-2009 08:36 AM

God, Sundae, I feel the same way about him!

Jim, I am deeply saddened by this tone you've adopted. I thought it went without saying that of course I would pledge any number of new threads per day that you ask. Haven't I always asked "How high?" on the way up whenever you said "JUMP!" And now you tell me I am dead to you. I can't believe you'd throw away all that we had, all that we could still be over such a small misunderstanding. You're killing me Jim with your reckless silence.

and ead, too.

lumberjim 03-05-2009 08:59 AM

suddenly, this morning, this thread has less fail, and more win. thanks SG, Bri and foot. you are resurrected to me. halle julia!

I hate to be a wet blanket . . . but do you know how to drive it across the Atlantic Ocean once you've hotwired it?

Sundae 03-05-2009 09:09 AM

It's not a wet blanket - it's a nappy.
I have some standards you know.

[anal] You know, Monday I was looking for a thread to add a pic to and was cursing all the freaking clone threads and other general bullshit ones not in "Nothingland" for making it a PIA to search.

Please, ADHD Dwellars, create away!! That stuff belongs in the Cellar too. I'm just requesting that if you are creating a thread just for shits and giggles, that you do it in Nothingland. [/retentive]

Trilby 03-06-2009 07:00 AM

why does that guy have a paint brush in his top knot?

Kaliayev 03-06-2009 08:23 AM

I'll throw some writing in the creative forum. Just give me the time to sort through my stuff. I may do something entirely new, even.

Sundae 03-06-2009 08:24 AM

Aw bless you.
It's not a paintbrush it's a pokey stick.
When you train with a Master, he has to have a way to poke you when you are getting things wrong.
But of course he can't sully his hands by touching you.
So he uses this stick.

I know.
Sometimes I think I still have bruises from the pokes I got when being trained in the most secret of arts.

Shawnee123 03-06-2009 08:27 AM

Pokemon!

limey 03-07-2009 04:48 PM

I think it's his eyebrows that are more worthy of comment, no:eyebrow: ?

monster 03-07-2009 05:17 PM

they're shopped.

lumberjim 03-07-2009 05:54 PM

movie makeup no doubt.....that's Pai Mei from Kill Bill II. I just think it's a cool look.
