Surgery

I had surgery today. It looks like I have Liposarcoma. I have follow up surgery on Feb 24th. Throw the lupus on top of it along with an ex who has conned me out of a bunch of money to pay for her boyfriend's divorce. Then add a dash of her taking my child to another state & not letting me see her except for once in 4 months. Now for garnish you can add that she has reported to law enforcement that I am conspiring with the wife of the man she took off with to have her killed.

Ever had a bad day??

classicman 02-17-2009 09:32 PM

OMFG - Wow Sarge thats a load to handle. I'm in the middle of some shitty stuff, but it doesn't compare to that!

If you ever loved her you should do it.;)

Big Sarge 02-18-2009 05:53 AM

I just needed to vent. I admit the cancer has me pretty shook up.

Sundae 02-18-2009 07:44 AM

Oh crikey Sarge, that all sounds bloody.
My best thoughts to you - you're not alone because you have us. Come and vent when you need to and please keep us up to date.

Pie 02-18-2009 07:45 AM

Sarge, I'm so sorry to hear your news. At what stage was the sarcoma? Were there renal complications?

Shawnee123 02-18-2009 08:03 AM

Sarge, we are here to listen. Warm thoughts to you.

Big Sarge 02-18-2009 08:35 AM

Has anyone else had liposarcoma? Doctors are being pretty evasive with me. They had originally thought I had lipoma, but when they operated they found it to be cancer. I already had a consult with onocology.

dar512 02-18-2009 09:26 AM

I'm sorry to hear about such a raft of troubles, Sarge. I hope you get it all sorted out.

glatt 02-18-2009 09:41 AM

Sarge, that sucks. And I'm sorry the doctors haven't answered your questions. Until they do the follow-up surgery they probably won't have any more information to give you. It sucks you have to wait a week.

Big Sarge 02-18-2009 11:33 AM

glatt - The wait is tedious. Looked it up on the web and it says survival rate is 50% in 5 years. That about made me wet my britches

That's why the staging information is very important.

lumberjim 02-18-2009 12:46 PM

hoping for the best for you sarge

kerosene 02-18-2009 03:19 PM

I am sorry, Sarge. What a load of crap to have to deal with. I hope you get more info soon.

Big Sarge 02-18-2009 08:11 PM

You know something?? I didn't develop this until after I joined the Cellar. Do you think the Cellar emits some kind of "radiation". Come to think about it, I didn't develop cancer until after I stopped wearing aluminum foil on my head. Hmmmmm

monster 02-18-2009 08:14 PM

hang in there sarge.... the good news is, once the cellar's got a hold of you, we don't like letting go -ask Bri!

DanaC 02-18-2009 08:50 PM

Bloody hell Sarge, what a kick in the teeth. Hang in there and keep us posted :)

Well Sarge, I recommend you post in future with this smiley: :tinfoil:
It might help!

wolf 02-19-2009 02:49 AM

Hang in there, Sarge!

Trilby 02-19-2009 07:22 AM

You can do this and we will help you. If I can do anything for you, Sarge, let me know. Do the docs have a plan for you yet?

Big Sarge 02-19-2009 08:56 AM

another surgery and checking to see if it has moved to the lymph nodes. They thought it was going to be a lipoma until they removed it on Tuesday. They aren't telling me much until after the next surgery

This is off topic, but here's a photo of my little girl. I'd give anything to see her. Her mother sent me this picture yesterday after I cried and begged long enough.

Undertoad 02-19-2009 09:04 AM

I'll bet the high death rate is due to people ignoring their lump until it gets really extremely serious

In this case, they didn't know what it was until they retrieved it, Ill bet that is a good thing, since there was nothing to identify it until they got in there

Hang in Sarge, it's just here to provide you perspective. You can beat this thing.

Trilby 02-19-2009 09:34 AM

Don't look at stupid stats. If I'd paid attention to them I'd be dead by now. Every CA is unique - stats just a way for the Normals to get a handle on something you cannot get a handle on.

What is the usual course for this? I googled it but didn't come up with much---is this a chemo deal?

kerosene 02-19-2009 11:48 AM

You have the strength to get through this, Sarge. We are all here for you along the way.

And you have a beautiful daughter.

TheMercenary 02-19-2009 11:48 AM

Wow, that is crazy. Wishing you the best BigSarge.

limey 02-19-2009 11:53 AM

What a beautiful little girl, Sarge!
And I'm right here with UT, case, Bri and everyone else, cheering you on.

monster 02-20-2009 09:20 PM

She has a leopardish carseat! cool. Hope she got that booger out ok. ;)

She's adorable, Sarge. You, not as cute, but we still love ya, hang in there.

Griff 02-21-2009 05:36 AM

Be strong Sarge.

Big Sarge 02-21-2009 09:23 AM

Aww thanks ya'll. That was the first picture the ex sent me since early Nov. She sent 2 more, all in her car seat. I don't have any of her at Christmas or even Thanksgiving. Sad

I have to meet with the surgeon and oncologist Monday morning.

Ok. There's the plan for Monday. Let us know what is going on. We will keep ahead of this beast and slay it. UT said something that gave me great comfort: "If this thing was outside your body you could squish it with your heel," and that image, of me squishing this stoopit thing, helped me a lot.

littlepixie 02-21-2009 11:05 AM

Good luck Sarge

Undertoad 02-21-2009 01:05 PM

Oh Bri... if I helped in any way, that makes me one happy dude!

That's right Sarge... it's just a dumb thing, in your body. If it was outside you could mash it up, so instead just send all your negative energies to it. When you feel negative, picture where the thing is and send all those negs out to bash and mash it.

Big Sarge 02-21-2009 03:16 PM

I feel overwhelmed a lot. First I had the news on the Lupus. Then Cassie ran away with my baby with her instructor, hitting me hard for money. Then I never dreamed this quarter sized lump would be cancer. I never would have noticed it if it wasn't putting pressure on a nerve.

Trilby 02-21-2009 05:11 PM

Ok. Those things suck but they've been done, they are in the past. What can we do NOW? What's next? How do we get thru this NOW?

:sending warm hugs:

Big Sarge 02-21-2009 07:18 PM

I think I need some sympathy sex. Volunteers?

DanaC 02-21-2009 07:20 PM

*nips down to the travel agents to check on flights to the states*

sweetwater 02-21-2009 08:19 PM

The 'net can be a useful or scary place. Avoid it until you get the information you want from the docs and then decide if you want more or if you'd rather hang with us. We are more fun, I think! :)
Best wishes to you.

You bet! :)

Big Sarge 02-26-2009 07:41 AM

They did a biopsy on the lymph nodes. Things are looking better. I'll know more when I go back to oncology

GREAT! I wish you would check in more often, Sarge. I worry!

Big Sarge 02-26-2009 07:52 AM

Because I didn't have an escort, I had to stay overnight in the hospital. Then the ex was served with a summons for an emergency custody hearing. Roller coaster ride!!!

Big Sarge 02-26-2009 09:44 AM

Why Sheldon....that's nice of you to offer...uh... well...

Griff 02-26-2009 04:08 PM

Congrats Sarge, but I won't be making any Shel style offers.

Aliantha 02-26-2009 04:14 PM

Sounds like things are turning around for you Sarge. Good luck with the hearing. I'm sure you'll get to see your little angel girl very soon. Great news on the lymph nodes too.

You must be smiling huh?

Big Sarge 02-26-2009 04:35 PM

Aliantha - It won't be long till you'll be seeing your little angel also. 5 weeks?

Aliantha 02-26-2009 04:39 PM

A bit under that now. :) Hopefully a couple of weeks under. lol

DanaC 02-26-2009 05:31 PM

Ho wlong til you get results from the biopsy Sarge?

Big Sarge 02-26-2009 05:58 PM

tomorrow. keep fingers crossed

DanaC 02-26-2009 06:41 PM

*crossing fingers*

:)

limey 02-27-2009 04:10 PM

*also crosses fingers*
[by the way Sarge, cantakerous is good!]

Aliantha 02-27-2009 05:14 PM

So, what's the verdict?

Elspode 02-28-2009 07:56 PM

I was sane before I came here, so there may be other unknown effects, too.

Sarge, sending much good juju your way. Keep in mind that the single most important factor in beating any disease is a positive frame of mind - visualize yourself each day being disease free, healthy and happy.

We'll be along for the whole ride with you, bro.

Big Sarge 03-02-2009 09:44 PM

Lymph nodes under right arm were clean. Thank God. Still waiting for their plan of action. Evidently liposarcomas are not very common in the arms

Pie 03-02-2009 09:50 PM

:celebrat: Great news! I'm very happy for you, Sarge.

Aliantha 03-02-2009 09:52 PM

Good to hear Sarge. Let us know what happens next. ;)

classicman 03-02-2009 10:47 PM

excellent!

limey 03-03-2009 04:58 PM

brill!

Big Sarge 03-16-2009 11:50 AM

Another update - They evaluated my sarcoma as T1N0M0 which is supposed to be good
