Sock Puppets, Clone Threads and Other General Nuisance

Cut it out. The Signal to Noise Ratio is suffering.

Obviously there is something in the air. My hippie, new age friends tell me that Mercury has gone retrograde. I can't think of anything else that would explain the assortment of meltdowns and foolishness.

Everybody to neutral corners. Take a breather and when you come back out, touch gloves, and fight like gentlebeings. Marquis of Queensbury rules and all that.

xoxoxoBruce 01-13-2009 01:17 PM

Flint started it.:haha:

wolf 01-13-2009 01:21 PM

[exasperated]Yeah, so? And if he had jumped off a bridge ....[/mom]

Actually slang and LJ are bigger on sock puppets.

I actually like sock puppets. and a well constructed clone thread can be humorous from time to time.

Juniper 01-13-2009 01:54 PM

I prefer sock monkeys.

Shawnee123 01-13-2009 01:59 PM

What's up with the monkey's wee wee? He seems...ashamed.

lumberjim 01-13-2009 02:04 PM

love me for who i am or not at all.

DanaC 01-13-2009 02:05 PM

I like sock puppets. I also like clone threads if they're funny and well-timed.

I don't like all the fighting. Ffs won't someone think of the Children!

jinx 01-13-2009 02:07 PM

Something in the air indeed...

Cicero 01-13-2009 02:12 PM

Thinking of the children died on 9/11 you insensitive assholes!

Yah I think batshit crazy must be in the air. My hippy friend said Mercury has gone Up Uranus. lol! ;)

Oh yeah? Who the hell died and made you a moderator .... umm.. :bolt:

Aliantha 01-13-2009 03:18 PM

I'm with wolf on this one. Clone threads are ok in moderation, but making ten in one day is ott and really not that funny anymore imo. Of course, I have no sense of humour, so what would I know.

lumberjim 01-13-2009 03:53 PM

YOU KNOW WHAT'S ALSO GOOD IN MODERATION?

MODERATION!

lookout123 01-13-2009 04:03 PM

where's that damn ban key, again?

DanaC 01-13-2009 04:05 PM

Didn't this all happen last year when we did the mod elections? Is this gonna happen every year?

lookout123 01-13-2009 04:09 PM

Yeah, those powertrippin' nutters are in to us for another year of tyranny. now where is that sarcasm key?

MODERATION!

Like they say in the Army:
"The great prince issues commands,
Founds states, vests families with fiefs.
Inferior people should not be employed."

lumberjim 01-13-2009 07:06 PM

moderate *these*

footfootfoot 01-13-2009 07:17 PM

If it wasn;t for general nuisance I wouldn't have no nuisance at all.

And we pronounce it New ee Zahnce.

EET is a FRANSH waird!

lumberjim 01-13-2009 09:46 PM

i had written a whole big diatribe about how i'll post how i like and make as many clone threads and clone sockpuppets as i want and dont you tell me how to post, and your wife is a smelly whore...and then i was like...

....eh, fuck it

my opinion matters about as much as wolf's or bruce's when it comes to that kind of thing

i get exactly 1 out of X(current active users) votes.

lumberjim 01-13-2009 09:47 PM

i forgot to respond to this highly offensive and intrusively personal ad hominem attack on my person.

but, now.....having taken the time to consider the message concealed within this post....I'm sure you all see it, it's so obvious.....

I'd like to say ....again......with all due respect and recognition of your vaunted unimpeachable character.....

NoBoxes 01-14-2009 02:42 AM

OK people, don't make me come in there. I'll start a thread if I have to and once I begin down that path there'll be no refuge. I'll put to shame all of your sock puppets and clone threads together. You'll drown in a sea of noboxes, a fate worse than death. :reaper:

BTW, hooray for moose and squirrel (moderators apparent).

SteveDallas 01-14-2009 09:11 AM

"Sick Puppets, Clean Threads, and Other General Nakedness"

Sundae 01-14-2009 09:22 AM

I don't like clone threads.
Because when they go off tangent and an interesting discussion starts up, I can never find them again.

Sock puppets are very funny - again in moderation.

The nastiness? Comes and goes. Some people you watch what you say around, because they bite. But even then it's okay, because at least you can switch them off in here.

I'm in my usual position of liking the Cellar pretty much as it is.
So don't go changing, to try to please me.

Shawnee123 01-14-2009 09:35 AM

I'm a weirdo.

I love clones, clone threads, sock puppets, cock puppets, and general sillary.

I can see how they would irritate though.

ThreadHijackMan 01-14-2009 11:21 AM

So......

Anyone heard of Bob the Bagel?

I don't mind the clone threads, most of them are pretty funny. Now who has never had a sock puppet?

One of the best features of this BB.

classicman 01-15-2009 10:11 AM

I have no socks. Apparently I'm in the minority.

DanaC 01-15-2009 10:16 AM

I have socks but no matching pairs.....

Not true. You've got a nice pair...

Oh, wait. This is about socks?

wolf 01-15-2009 12:19 PM

I am poised on the verge of learning how to knit socks, despite the instructions being marked as "easy."

classicman 01-15-2009 12:43 PM

They are easy - fitting them onto your feet is the difficult part

Cicero 01-15-2009 12:50 PM

Just send them to me when they don't work out. I'll find a way to wear them as gloves. :)

kerosene 01-15-2009 12:59 PM

I have not had any sock puppets.

Cicero 01-15-2009 01:08 PM

Yah me either.....;)

SteveDallas 01-15-2009 01:13 PM

Go for it wolf!

(I had one sock puppet, Chad, who made one post regarding elections in Florida.)

Oh Wolf! I'll help you there - just let me know if you get stuck. I'm currently knitting some kilt socks for a friend's daughter's future husband (for the wedding). Just call on me ...

Aliantha 01-15-2009 03:36 PM

I have no sock puppets. I prefer not to confuse people around here any further. :)

Flint 01-15-2009 03:45 PM

I have only ever had ONE account on this site. This one. Flint.

Back in the day, on Audiogalaxy, when I had more free time, I did make clones of other users, to mess with them. The usernames were underlined (for IE users), so you could put an invisible underscore to mess with people. AG was a madhouse, this was commonplace. I had a list of like 10 or 15 clone variations people had done on my username, which was NosotrosFlintamos. You could also put space characters after the username to register an identical-looking username. You had to look out for that extra space right after people's name. Don't know if you can do that here. I know that the chat room will let you use [alt+0160] as a username.
