Iz a grownup now
1 Attachment(s)
After years of grudging, pay-as-you-go use of cell phones, I finally got a real phone, with a real monthly bill.
Damn, it those things SUCK YOU IN! In the beginning, it was "just for on the road," now, look what I got! A party phone! So, any iphone tips for me? |
I finally gave in and got a crackberry. They are addicting. After about 2 months now the newness is finally wearing off.
|
Don't buy anything Windows Mobile. They blew it again - the keyboard on the Moto I have is very nice, but the phone is ruined by Windows Mobile lack of usability. Usability is everything to a phone.
If I was buying today, Blackberry for sure. J's daughter has a BB Curve and it is impressive. |
So the Blackberry is a pretty good phone? What about carrier?
I've been considering buying a different phone. There are so many to choose from. Why the Blackberry UT above other touch screens? |
I almost got the Blackberry Storm, but the monthly service plans I needed worked out much cheaper with the iphone.
it's seriously the Coolest Gadget Eva! |
I am sure the I phone is the coolest but it maybe too much phone for my needs. It probably is a mini office huh? I don't want to browse the internet from my phone, or any other office kind of work.
I see there are alot of other touch phones out there. Functionality is nice and I want that but how many bells and whistles do I really want or need? I'd like a touch screen,Large font instant messaging free to Canada service and cheap CA calls if needed, nice camera, optional GPS,mp3 capable with a family plan but I don't want a 2year contract. I don't think I have an option about that though. The razar is not impressive imo |

well according to cnet reviews between the blackberry storm and the Iphone..the Iphone won hands down. :thumb: |
"I want a phone that can make calls, and receive calls" - Makes the sales folks' head spin around every time. Keep repeating as they try to upsell you.:D
|
jinx and i are eligible for our new every 2 upgrade....but i LIKE the razr. it makes and receives calls. plus it has scrabble on it for when i'm bored.
|
I'm fan (but not *fanatic* they make sometimes bad phones too) of Nokia.
What I can't understand - new Nokia E65 and such sh***y battery. Phone works for 30 hours (stand-by). Samasung (I tested D900) have easy interface & great functionality (3Mpx camere is awesome) - but try to install any new soft - You need 2 days of training, 8 steps to perform and use 3 different tools. I tested iPhone 3G - but I was not excited - too big, to much gadgets, close system. |
ooh scrabble...tempting and it makes and receives calls. You sound practical. This is what my son says too.
I need a good message phone. One with a good keypad and good fonts so I don't need to wear glasses just to see and text. I went through cnet reviews and there are too many choices. I have cricket service so my option if I stick with them are the razar and the samsung messenger. I want a COOL phone. One that I can play with during my graveyard shift. You know take photos, play games, text my coworker down the hall. We can't to one another because of the kids sleeping.I perhaps just want a toy. I suppose I could jump to a laptop for that though eh? |
what do you do? graveyard shift, kids sleeping?
|
oh, and for --- I think it was Flint that asked how many clicks to call someone on your favorites? Easiest ever.
--rapid double click to get to your faves --one click to call and I can play scrabble and about a million other things, too. The koi pond--the ocarina--the white noise player. Seriously cool. I'm more about the "other stuff" than about the phone, so I'm really pleased. |

edit- since you asked you are the only person I'v told. I'd like to keep it that way. I just wanted to satisfy your curiosity. |

The ocarina is SUPER cool--turn your phone into a musical instrument by blowing on it. I'm like--no fucking way! |

C. None of the above J.
Anyone would get the same consideration. This is really embarrassing me. all this hoopla. What I mean fooot is that anyone that gave a crap could just ask ME. It isn't a game OR a secret. I feel like I am missing something. I am doing some great faux paux by not posting all of my personal information outright like everyone else? Maybe I am just retarded. |
when you share inconsequential details about your self you become more real to the people that read this. you don't have to be specific....but the reality of your day to day lives is interesting to the freaks that read this site. I feel like i know a little more about you, so maybe i'll be nicer to you....nah....i'm gonna be me....but who knows? I like knowing your real name, and those *pictures of you in the hula skirt were pretty spicy.....I don't know that you should share that much on the board, though.

My old Nokia finally died last year. Almost usable, too quiet to hear what anyone said, and the battery needed replacing. Was a little gutted, because I'd kept that phone for several years. I liked it. It was like a small housebrick...comfortably weighted. It was one of the very early ventures into colour screens, and had a ridiculously pixilated pic of pilau as its wallpaper (sent in a text, the phone itself had no camera).
So, a friend gave me their old phone (might have been a sony erikson) which I had for almost a year. Lost that a couple of months ago. At first I was like someone who'd lost a vital organ. Felt so strange not being contactable. My guilty secret is that I liked it and prevaricated on setting up a new one for almost 3 months. Another friend gave me her old Razr phone. I waited almost 4 weeks before putting in a sim and phoning my provider to get my old phone number back. If I had loads of money, I'd be interested in the new, more computer-like phones. I don't though, so I'll stick to whatever handme downs I inherit or gifts I receive for now. I'm happy to wait anyway...until they really are fully integrated and mobile little communication hubs. I do occasionally covet the iphone some people have. |
yer funny jim.
I'll send you (ALL)some pictures of work sometime when I get that right camera phone. I think I could trust you with my real name even. DanaC- I went through CNETS reviews of phones. There is alot out there to be envious of. So you like the razr?? anyway, to get back to what I was saying. In order to communicate we have to walk down the halls to find one another. We are not near the area phones and we don't appreciate having to run to catch the phone ringing either. I really really want a new phone but how much phone? I would like to know what cell people use and what they like about them. I am not sure whether to stay with cricket and get a razr or switch and get a curve or dare or a bb pearl. |

what! lol

yeah....that miss bizz one is bouncing.... i used the one through the cellar.
|
I just changed it. I'll put it in my profile too.
geez I didn't think people actually looked at those. I keep waiting for the biz miss one to close. It is full of junk mail from trying to do online work at one time. edit- I'd had one problem with yahoo when I emailed Canada so let me know if there are any problems. It might just be on his end. |
Best. Toy. EVA!
The apps are da bomb. I'm still trying them out--some are duds, some are cool! I'm not a big game person, but I've loaded Tap Tap Revenge, which I can't figure out how to play, Spore, Scrabble, and Enigma. Enigma is really cool! I took mine traveling and the maps, gps, Where, Urban Spoon, are all superb! One of my fave apps is the White Noise maker. I MUST have white noise at night, and having that saves me from lugging along an entire fan or my stand-alone white noise maker when I travel--fantastic! I also like the shopping list, the recipe finders, the weather, and the entire works of Shakespeare on there! I also LUV the koi pond. I show people that, and they're impressed-- then I show them the Ocarina, and their eyes just get wide with disbelief! They're like . . . wtf . . . ??? I found myself touching the tv the other day, wanting the menu to come on! There are so many things you can do with it, and I feel like I've barely scratched the surface. I'm in awe, and I'll say this: we can never go back. This is the way it's gonna be from now on--one little device that's everything. Oh! Oh! I forgot to add my new favorite app: IT'S A LIGHTSABER! |
