What an asshole
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/12/...ket/index.html
Just because you put up with addicts and violence on a near daily basis does not mean you need to treat the general public with such disrespect. Some cops have forgotten that they exist to SERVE the public, not treat them as animals in need of oversight. I can understand becoming skeptical with all the crap that they put up with day in and day out, I'd much rather run into a burning building than deal with a coke-head wielding a knife, but it is no excuse to look upon the public as inferior and lacking in moral character. " "what's under your jacket?" She said, "my belly." To which the trooper responded, "okay, let's see it." She was wearing a jacket, it seems, and so perhaps this intrepid law enforcer thought she and her husband were stealing a very large beach ball or something. " |
I swear my first thought about the thread title was that you'd found some pRon joke to amuse us.

Here's a hint:
Bleeeeeeeaaattttt. Bahhhhhhhhhh. SHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... |
someone needs to see The Silence of the Lambs again.
and cops have to put up with all kinds of crap and elbows 'n stuff |

OK...what bleats and bahs? No, not sheep, something very like sheep.
What do you get when you shush someone, if they listen and you don't have to deck them? Or, after you deck them and they shut up? Actually, serpent spelled it out for you. ;) |
Got it, haven't seen it in awhile. That dude creeped me outttt.

Wonder if it was just a convenient excuse for getting caught riding the shoulder and running into a parked cop - Perhaps there was no way they could get back into the regular lane as the traffic was all backed up.... handy excuse. I dunno. |
If the lady was me, or my wife, I wouldn't necessarily want personal information on national news.
Its pretty simple though, no criminal is going to pull over to ask a cop for an escort. The family should have called an ambulance but damn... BTW, are you being sarcastic classic? |

Mass cops are either awesome or assholes. You don't get any in-betweens. Personally they've been very helpful to me once or twice, but I've had some friends just get it up the proverbial ass for next to nothing.
Furthermore, I'll point out that there's a few areas on Mass roads, especially near Boston, where you are allowed to drive in the breakdown lanes during some parts of the day. |
I was just proposing an alternate hypothesis. I have driven on the shoulder and gotten caught just as I described. Did she actually have the baby? I never read whether she did or not.

So you commented without reading the full article? then how do you know we don't know the full story? :eyebrow: FWIW I agree with you. As for criminals not asking the cops for help, mashfreak, -which planet are you on? That's dodge #1 in the skullduggery handbook. |
It seemed to hint that they "made it in time, but that was rather open ended IMO. I read the article, it just wasn't definitive.

It has happened! Boston airport, circa 1962, Frank "the Skywayman" Abagnale had disguised himself as a bank guard and tricked all the airport shops into dropping their night deposits, not into the "broken" safe, but into his special secure trolley. As he left with over $60,000, the trolley wheels got stuck in the sliding door tracks. Two airport cops helped him clear the door tracks and then load the loot into his station wagon since "the armored truck is busy elsewhere."
Imagine the meeting those two cops had with their boss the next day. |

His biography is Catch Me If You Can. He did much better stunts than that, too.

I'm sorry. The cop was a dick. No two ways about it. There was no need for the ticket.
The purpose of tickets is allegedly to prevent future similar misbehaviors by the process of negative reinforcement of said behavior. How often is this woman going to be pregnant and need to get to the hospital in a hurry in the breakdown lane? The cop probably has a little dick, and since he couldn't use his gun as a penis replacement in that situation, he used his pen. I'm sorry, I'm just sick of how people treat each other. Sick. |
We're responding to an editorial, not an article. The few details are slanted.
I don't think the trooper did anything wrong. Unless these people needed an ambulance there was no reason for them to pull in behind a trooper during a traffic stop. Actually, even if they needed an ambulance there was no reason to pull in behind the trooper. You're in a car having an emergency? Call 911 from your cell phone. Don't come in behind a cop during one of the most dangerous parts of his job. |

Maybe they needed to be reprimanded, but a ticket - which took more time and further delayed them on their trip, and probably freaked them out more? I'm sorry, I just don't get the need for a citation. It really smacks of "you've irritated me and I think you're stupid, so I'm going to write you a ticket because I can". Cripes, if that's how things are, we'll have to write tickets to 95% of the people on the planet. |

It's the, fireman vs cop wars. Love it! :)

In the Trooper's defense... My contractions were less than a minute appart... we drove the speed limit the entire way to the hospital... on the road not the shoulder... and made it in time. IF they were so worried... that is precisely what AMBULENCES are for... they are allowed to exceed the speed limit drive around traffic and expect everyone to jump out of there way.

Cops aren't exactly know for their good decision making. Just last night a guy on another team was all shitty during his game and had obviously had a few drinks before playing. He got mouthy with the ref who then redcarded him. He charged up on the ref and the ref stuck his hands out to protect himself. The guy flopped on the ground like he'd been shot. He immediately screams, "YOU CAN'T DO THAT, I'M A COP!!!!" He then called the cops while telling the ref he's going to get his ass kicked on his way to jail.
The cops showed up and saw their drunk, stupid, asshole of a colleague and told him to go home and sleep it off. Yeah, no repurcussions for him. |
Sounds like the cop that was called made a good decision.

A cop sexually harassed me at work the other day. It was awesome. Breaking the law...breaking the laaaaw!!
Not that I minded the detailed description of what he would do to my ass. It's been awhile since someone has been aggressive with me like that. Dirty!! The fact that he did it in front of a bunch of customers was great. :) That's when I ran out of anything to say and carried on. Outside of the surprised look on my face. Hey, I'm not used to being talked to like that. It was a cop, couldn't hit him upside the head, though he could tell I wanted to. A little moral corruption adds a little spice to my day. |
Did it make you hot?
