Packs of robots to hunt uncooperative humans
The full story is from New Scientist. Edited highlights follow:

I do NOT approve. :headshake We've banned many weapons before. We should ban this now. |
Excellent idea.
If you're not uncooperative, you won't be hunted by robots. Seems fair enough to me. |
Robots have never been proven to be a deterrent. A person committing a crime of passion, for instance, does not stop to think "hey, I better not stab my husband 16 times, those freaking robots will find me. CRAP."
|
Well now I have to figure out how to kill robots first. Fuck. Where are my huge freaking magnets? :) Then I will be cited for the destruction of government property at 2 mil. instead of the lowly 20,000....Oh this does throw a "wrench" in things. lol!
Do they have a chip for passive aggressive humans yet? How to sniff one out that is? I might be safe, for awhile... Oh and all that AI stuff science fiction has been trying to warn us about...it's here. Have you guys met HAL? Practicing: Stay back robots! I have huge magnets and will destroy your processor and any monitor you may have. Stay back! I have a garden hose! I have paint and will spray it all over your lenses! Oh and stay away from my puppy too or I'll get really mad. Let vehicles that have done this be an example!:D |
robots. pfft! Big deal.
You just carry a super-soaker filled with salt water. Kills them every time. |
Heh.....Made in China? Heh.. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/11...obot_hack_war/
Why am I being arrested by a robot that speaks Mandarin? Damn. Damn. :) |
Really! All the best robots speak cantonese. ;)
|
Next thing you know, robots will get "the vote."
We need tough legislation. |
Well I think this thread should not give these people any ideas on how to design it. Seeing how it isn't complete....
1. Impervious to salt water. 2. Impervious to magnets. 3. Impervious to paint on lenses. (wipers) 4. Obtain the vote. They should start paying up. All checks can be made to "cellar think tank unillimited". :) |
I for one welcome our new robotic overlords.

It's ok. They'll be recalled within 6 months when the lead paint starts poisoning all the engineers.
|
I'd pipe down Dana, I heard they were supposed to attack pinko socialists first. ;)
|
Great idea. Unleash the robots. :lol2:

(YOU WILL BE UPGRADED.) |
Why do I keep getting the idea that someone, somewhere thinks that all this science fiction shit that was bad when it was in literature would be good if they brought it to reality?
|
Much of it is good and much of it will be good.
|
Uncooperative humans being hunted by robots is good...how?
Start by telling me who gets to decide who's uncooperative, and what activities comprise a lack of cooperation, please. |
Well..You right now would be a good example...too many questions..ZAP! Anything and anyone, inferior to robots, is uncooperative.

Before taking action, first the bot must make a decision. Same technology being used in public monitoring to identify terrorists or other criminal types. |
Yup, 'bots will look for indicators of guilt.
So if you've never done anything to feel guilty for... you're fine! Quote:
