I actually hope Obama wins. It will give me at least 4 years of shit to totally slam Pelosi, Reid, and the Demoncrats for every fucked up thing that happens to the US day after he is elected in Nov. :D

richlevy 10-13-2008 10:01 PM

Man what a tool. It reminds me of what G-d did to Moses for smiting the rock twice.

I also like the insinuation that foreigners are all praying to other G-ds for Obama to win 'for a variety of reasons'. This implies that Christians do not support Obama. I also like the way he stresses Allah.

Too bad he was indoors. A bolt of lightning would have made a much more effective point.

I can't disagree with that view.

I kinda feel that way about Boris Johnson as our Mayor.
Right then [rubs hands] let's see the traffic sorted out completely. Let's see the lowest level of crime in any city in the UK. Let's see London schools become the best in the country. Forget about the fact that every nation's capital city has the same problems, come on Boris! If Ken was such a disaster for London it should be so easy to make small changes and turn it all around!

TheMercenary 10-14-2008 08:27 AM

To many promises from NoBama, no plan to pay for them or even implement them. Oh, and then the big elephant in the room, any plan must be approved by Congress. So actually he can't really promise you anything.

Whereas McCain's promises are already funded, implemented, approved, and successful? :eyebrow:

Hey, same for him. He can't do it either. They pander to the crowd and what people, you, voters, want to hear.

"Health Care for the Poor!" How? who pays for it?

"Tax the big corps!" And chase them offshore and lose more jobs?

God the list is endless.

Shawnee123 10-14-2008 09:05 AM

You're making an assumption, again that all of us "you" "voters" are completely ignorant to the fact that the whole game is politics. We know. Short of revamping democracy, we work with what we know. Some of us read, some of us listen, some of us have actually made a choice based on those things.

We're not ALL sheep, and we don't become more sheep-like because we don't agree with you. We have our own brains, thoughts, and needs.

Scary, huh? ;)

TheMercenary 10-14-2008 09:14 AM

Not really, glad to hear you are not like that. You are not in the majority..... of either party.

Shawnee123 10-14-2008 09:26 AM

Good, glad that's settled. Now I need a beer. ;)

classicman 10-14-2008 09:29 AM

"Tax Rebates for all"
"Lower taxes"
"4 day work weeks"
"Free Ice Cream" (Merc is buyin)

Shawnee123 10-14-2008 09:29 AM

Free freaking ICE CREAM? I can scream for that!

Let's all! Let's all scream for ice cream!

SamIam 10-14-2008 09:44 AM

WHAT!? The zillion dollar bailouts to corporations led by incompetent CEO's isn't enough for you? Now you want FREE ice cream? Do you realize how much that will cost the taxpayer? What next? Free health care for the family dog or cat?

PS Make mine pistachio. ;)

TheMercenary 10-14-2008 10:19 AM

I want government funded car washes. Let's put the poor to work. :D

classicman 10-14-2008 10:19 AM

C'mon SamIam - Mercs buyin!

TheMercenary 10-14-2008 10:29 AM

Yea, but I only am buying one flavor.

Shawnee123 10-14-2008 10:30 AM

Betcha it ain't chocolate. You betcha!

TheMercenary 10-14-2008 10:31 AM

Yep, Neapolitan.

SamIam 10-14-2008 12:03 PM

Its a slippery slope, I tell ya. One individual starts providing free ice cream, and soon you'll have strangers walking up to you on the street demanding free tiramisu.

Sundae 10-14-2008 02:10 PM

Bleurgh.
Not ice-cream, the video.

I've just watched it.
I can't believe that people can say that sort of thing seriously.
The God I grew up believing in would not be taunted like that. That's the sort of psychology that bullying talk show hosts use on deadbeat Dads when the audience boos them.

And I also can't believe people think God gets involved in politics. Where was he in the Russian Revolution, where the Communists prevented Christian worship for decades? And if he is involved in politics, how do we know he supports McCain? Obama is a Christian too, and no doubt has plenty of prayers being offered up on his behalf.

Also, did I really hear that millions around the world pray to Hindu?
Hindu, Buddha, Allah.

So odd. I've known plenty of Hindus, but I've never known anyone pray to Hindu. Must be a new sect.

TheMercenary 10-14-2008 05:20 PM

CNN or Fox or MSNBC or one of those shows did a great segment on peoples abilities to recognize faces. Only one guy did a good job out of like 10 people. They could not recognize Cheney, Al Gore, Bill Gates, and some other random famous public figures. But every damm one of them recognized Oprah. :D

Sundae 10-14-2008 05:26 PM

An aside. I've mentioned it before. I have terrible terrible trouble recognising faces.

I watch the news, I read the papers, hell - even just coming into the Cellar keeps me up to date. But I'd be one of those nightmares in an on-street interview if asked to identify people by photo (hence my poor showing on the Should You Vote quiz or whatever it was called).

I'd recognise Oprah because of the airtime she gets, even in the UK. But I'm still confused between two of the Board members here, and two different sets of artists.

TheMercenary 10-14-2008 05:33 PM

Ok, that was not an indirect dig at you but the majority of people should at least know who Cheney is, good God he is the devil incarnate, isn't he? And hell Al Gore invented the internet and global warming, everyone should know that and who this guy was. [sarc]

Sundae 10-14-2008 05:37 PM

Don't worry, didn't take it as a dig.
And I know the majority of people who can't recognise politicians' photos, don't recognise their names either.

I know I could identify the office of more American political figures than the majority of Americans could British political figures. Not redeemable in the Cellar where the political IQ is higher than the average of either country.

richlevy 10-14-2008 07:59 PM

I have a hard time distinguishing between Steve Forbes and Mitch McConnell , especially since they're both in the news a lot.

This may not be a problem for long, since McConnell is up for reelection and the race is tightening.
