ur next ex

At first it was just annoying to have posts consisting of just images, but now I'm thinking that it's sort of anti-Cellar. The posts will disappear if the images are no longer hosted or published, thus "breaking" any involved conversations. It also makes the posts unsearchable, by either Cellar or Google.

ur thots

Flint 09-30-2008 10:26 AM

Posting an image, of text, is a stupidly unnecessary use of resources. And also, just regular stupid.

dar512 09-30-2008 10:29 AM

See my post in the mildly irritating thread.

BigV 09-30-2008 10:40 AM

I don't think it's stupid. I think it's a good idea... if you want your communication unsearchable.

It's a technique that has been introduced in spam spam spam spam, when the white hats learned to search for strings indicative of undesirable content. Then when the same message was communicated to our flexible brains via unsearchable image of text. Stupid? That depends.

Is it anti-cellar? Good question. I don't think so. Think of all the other images that would leave gaps in the conversations should they become unpublished, are they anti-cellar? Many of them have only minimal accompanying text, sometimes only a single character, perhaps a punctuation mark.

I think it's self defeating. I am not concerned by it. It will leave gaps in the conversations. It reminds me of a courtroom, where the witness is prodded to answer verbally after only nodding or pointing. The court transcript would not have the information in the record, despite the fact that all present who were paying attention would have understood.

glatt 09-30-2008 10:42 AM

I find the posting style to be annoying. Not only is the style annoying, but there is no real content.

I've never seen a posting style like his before. I don't get it. He obviously has to go through a lot of work to create those graphics. You would think he'd have something better to say after going through so much work.

kerosene 09-30-2008 10:47 AM

I imagine he is probably trying to not get it removed by doing it that way. It's rather irritating and stinks of trollness. I say there needs to be some kind of text involved with new posters....maybe it's adding too many rules to newbs, but still...it's fucking annoying.

Flint 09-30-2008 10:50 AM

Treat the posts exactly as if a new user came in and posted images only, with no text. I know that's what they are; but I assume that image-only posts with no text would be treated like spam.

glatt 09-30-2008 10:55 AM

What if they were cool images in the WTF thread? We'd be rejoicing them.

Flint 09-30-2008 10:57 AM

Oh, yeah.

Shawnee123 09-30-2008 10:58 AM

If a picture paints a thousand words, then why can't I paint you? :mecry: Hand me a tissue, will you?

kerosene 09-30-2008 11:04 AM

Yeah, but WTF is in an images forum...that's what it is there for. Just sayin...

Trilby 09-30-2008 11:08 AM

the EVIL blue color hurts mine eyes.

I say spank him.

Yes. Just ask Flint. He knows.

Flint 09-30-2008 11:16 AM

Leave me out of this, weirdo.

I see sounds, I don't feel colors.

BigV 09-30-2008 11:38 AM

LabRat 09-30-2008 12:21 PM

In the registration it says don't be intolerably annoying. Make a poll. If he is voted as such, cut him off. ::shrug::

classicman 09-30-2008 12:27 PM

What is he, like 12 or something?

BigV 09-30-2008 12:51 PM

ten posts.. I'm not intolerably annoyed by this. Yet.

There are a few other users I'd like to see lined up against the wall before this lightweight. I vote no execution.

BigV 09-30-2008 12:59 PM

I'm just blue skying here

classicman 09-30-2008 01:09 PM

I'm starting to really like this ignore feature - thats 3 now. Problem solved.

Sundae 09-30-2008 02:44 PM

I say get him under the Trade Descriptions Act for his username.
He is so not my next ex.

Trilby 09-30-2008 02:48 PM

How did you find this thread? Did you use the "search" function to look for occurrences of your user name? If so, you will understand how we like the ability to search text, and why your posting text in graphics is bugging some of us.

monster 09-30-2008 03:32 PM

At 10 posts I'd hardly call it intolerably irritating. Give her enough rope to hang herself -either she'll calm down and be a great addition, or she'll escalate it until a ban becomes the only sensible option.

classicman 09-30-2008 03:48 PM

as in cut it out or... ur next ex?

lumberjim 09-30-2008 03:57 PM

several of us have Whale Penis Awards. some of us have several

Sundae 09-30-2008 04:03 PM

I've won prizes for my blowjobs.
Well, I've won money.
Okay, I've been given money for them.

I'm a whore, okay!
Does that count?

LabRat 09-30-2008 04:11 PM

Up your lithium, and check back in 2-3 weeks.

kthnxbai

Sundae 09-30-2008 04:14 PM

I'm on paroxetine, kthxbai ;)

SteveDallas 09-30-2008 04:31 PM

His violation of the English language in his username annoys me more than his posts.

For now.

"won awards for your posts"? Pardon me while I bow down.

Flint 09-30-2008 04:35 PM

I'd like to hear more about the regulatory body that oversees the distribution of awards issued for posts on internet message boards. Do they also issue citations?

lumberjim 09-30-2008 04:37 PM

you may be skeptical....but on my jeep commander forum.....they have awards and medals.....it's so ghey

check it:

Flint 09-30-2008 04:38 PM

we have the "hall of fame" thread

lumberjim 09-30-2008 04:38 PM

and our moms think we're cool

Clodfobble 09-30-2008 04:44 PM

Actually, my mom thinks I'm kind of a dork and difficult to identify with.

Shawnee123 09-30-2008 04:47 PM

Is that, like, a movie title, with the all-capped initial letters? A book?

Just so we're clear, you're saying that if we kick you out, you will retaliate by registering at 2 or 3 other forums? Uh, okay.

DanaC 09-30-2008 07:03 PM

I don't really have a problem with that posting style. I'd prefer it if it wasnt so vibrant. Much prefer the black on white, but not being able to search isn't a problem to me.

Out of the 35 forum communities you are active in, how many have you emotionally connected (bonded) with?

I claim that ur_next_ex has won awards for his or her posts.

There.

(What do I win?)

monster 09-30-2008 07:20 PM

Look how awesome sheis! She needs a special font to remind us how much better than she it. it stands to reason that she's won countess award.

Most self-important-english-murdering-board-ho perhaps?

Trilby 09-30-2008 07:45 PM

How come Sundae gets money for her blowjobs? WTF!? I've been giving them away!

footfootfoot 09-30-2008 08:17 PM

You're giving them away? And all this time I've been paying for them?
WTF?

lumberjim 09-30-2008 08:18 PM

we ALL pay for them. one wai or anot'er

This post is ban worthy. the text is horrendous but more importantly the douche that can be active in over 35 messageboards isn't usually the cellar type. and anyone who gets awards for posts and is actually proud of it should just stop breathing right now.

i think that covers it.
