I wonder if this is true?
Do women really think size 8 is ideal?
Do men lust for size 12?
Am I that far off the norm in thinking they're all perfect?

Come to think of it, my desirable range is a whole lot wider than just 8 to 16, and I don't think I could pick an "ideal". :blush:

I have often wanted to find a series of 3-5 women of differing sizes and post a poll for guys, then a separate of of the same pics for girls to vote for their most attractive. Ideally, it would be the same woman, but in 10-15 lb increments, but where ya gonna find that?

I don't know anything about how sizing works. Quite frequently I'll be listening to the women chatting and I'll hear that so and so is a size __ and it'll shock me, because I know Mrs L is a size 5 and appears larger/smaller than the one they're talking about. I don't get.

"Size" as defined by the fashion industry is irrelevant. Do you know in many cases the more expensive the clothing the smaller size you can get away with? Marketing.

Anyway, I don't see a big difference between their 12 and their 16 in that pic.

They're all beautiful...but would I like to look like Tillie? You bet your boopy I would.

i'm almost willing to bet that "men's ideal" was based almost exclusively on "who has the nicest boobs".

Women are really funny about their bodies. I hate my butt, my husband tells me its one of my better assets.

Why are there no odd numbers? Is it the same reason Chinese hotels don't have a fourth floor?

Size 8 is in fact my least favorite of the three. However, I find them all to be 100% hittable.

Shape, proportions, muscle tone, skin condition (I dont mean a skin condition!) all contribute. Dress size alone is a poor guide.

Size plays a part, so does proportion. But more important, as Zengum was getting at, is condition. A person with a size 8 frame but size 16 fat layered on it is not my ideal. Nor is a size 12 frame with only enough fat for a size 8 body - who likes skeletons? A nicely toned, balanced body is my ideal. Now if only I could make my own nicely toned and balanced...

They're all quite fine. My ex was a 16 throughout most of our marriage, and she was never fat in any way. She was quite hot, actually.

(To answer HLJ's probably not serious question about odd numbers: odd sizes are usually junior sizes, meant to fit teenagers whose proportions are a little different from adult, curves-filled-out women.)

jinx tells me I'm very judgmental about appearances. looking at those 3, i like the 8 and the 16 best. why? the 8 looks fit and trim, and the 16 is curvy....the 12, although smaller and lighter than the 16, has no waist. It's more about proportions.

And of course you're all remembering the photos have been shopped right? Sure the proportions might be right, but I'm very surprised to not see a single dimple anywhere on any of them.

Anna might have more waist than you think. The camera angle might not show it very well though.

There are lots of things come before size.

That said, I agree with some posts here before. Size don't matter, it's the proportion. There was a scientific evaluation what proportions a the most pleasing. Don't know where to find it though.

To me, women's ideal size 8 Tillie has eyes that say "Ok, when are we done with this, I have a fitness centre to get back to," men's ideal size Anna's eyes say "What do you guys mean my size is ideal? I want to look like Tillie" while national average size 16 Caroline have eyes that say "you know what I got, you know you want it, now come and get it!"

I wonder if men's preferences change as they* get older. There is not much difference between what I found attractive in a man's physique oh-so-many-years-ago and the present, but it's much further down on the list of what I'd want now. And I guess I'd better bookmark this Image as inspiration for continuing with the gym. :p

Caroline it not average anyway. She has more than an average number of eyes and limbs.

The poses make it really hard to judge. (Not that I judge....) For instance, it looks like none of the three really has much of a waist, which I doubt is really the case. Some more "realistic" (for lack of a better word) poses would be good.

But hey... I wouldn't kick them out of bed for eating crackers. (Singly or together.)

Which is not to say that "eating crackers" is a euphemism for farting in the US. Farts will clear the air eventually, cracker crumbs are forever in the sheets until you get up and clean out the whole bed.

I'm a size 8, but I bet that girl towers over my 5'2". I have a fat gut and love handles...how come none of those girls do? Their sizes might be average, but their bodies sure ain't.

Also, remember these are UK sizes. Size 8 in the UK is Size 6 in the US. The largest lady is a US Size 14. I agree that their bodies are not average for their sizes.

Where are the man body picture comparisons? If we had a poll like that, would it be a skinny guy, a muscular guy and a heavy guy?

Case, you are right. I bet 90% of the women would vote for the muscular guy. It is sickening the way people objectify sexually. I understand. I have met so many women who just look at me as a sex object. What I would give for a woman to want me for my inner beauty & not just my buff bod.
