i want warning labels on dvds

I just spent $24 on Sweeney Todd. AND IT'S A FUCKING MUSICAL!

mother ...fucker.

Clodfobble 06-09-2008 10:09 PM

Look, just because you're gay now, you don't have to take it out on us. Be a man about it.

Cloud 06-09-2008 10:18 PM

cultural literacy is a fine thing

SteveDallas 06-10-2008 12:06 AM

I'll trade you for a copy of "The Sound of Music."

I know you're joking, but this DVD swapping site will actually let you trade outright (directly from another user) for another DVD that you want.

I guarantee you will find a taker for that new release in about 2 seconds flat.

. . .

Unfortunately, however, you've already caught teh ghey.

. . .

Just for you...

Sundae 06-10-2008 04:33 AM

If by being gay you mean being in tune with your feminine side, as opposed to finding another man's penis sexually stimulating, I think you're probably still safe. If you watch the film there are buckets of gore, and none of the protagonists are remotely effete. With the possible exception of Sacha Baron Cohen, but he's just pretending.

I loved it, as did HM. And this is a man who would rather stick hot pins in his eyes than watch 95% of musicals. The Nightmare Before Christmas being another exception.

I'd take it off your hands, but it'd be the wrong region for me.

SteveDallas 06-10-2008 11:18 AM

Ehh. I tried the DVD trading thing with Peerflix. It turned out nobody had anything I was interested in.

Cloud 06-10-2008 11:24 AM

and why would you shell out money to buy a dvd you've never seen before anyway? I only buy dvds that I've seen and know I'd like to see over and over.

otherwise, rent.

lumberjim 06-10-2008 12:12 PM

it's because I'm stinking rich. I can't be bothered with renting.

HungLikeJesus 06-10-2008 12:15 PM

If you're like me, you just watch them once and throw them away.

Shawnee123 06-10-2008 12:16 PM

Let me give you my address, HLJ! ;)

Did you finish it?

I hated that movie.

lumberjim 06-10-2008 12:34 PM

no! i tried to hang in for 5 minutes, but jinx kept clawing at me and shreiking "make it stop!!!" like a banshee with it's ass on fire!

the thing that made it worse was that we watched the bonus disc first to get some background on Sweeney Todd. NO mention of it being a musical. Johnny Depp singing? so sad.

dar512 06-10-2008 12:37 PM

There was a lot of publicity about this movie - having Johnny Depp and all. I'm surprised that anyone who was interested in it would not have heard that it's a musical. I haven't seen it, but even the trailer had Depp singing. See http://www.apple.com/trailers

elSicomoro 06-10-2008 12:56 PM

What the...did you do that while you were on the toilet or something? It looks like you're in a bathroom.

Shawnee123 06-10-2008 12:58 PM

lj you fucker. Give me a SCF, will you?

lol

SteveDallas 06-10-2008 01:01 PM

If you have that much extra cash, send some my way. I'm sure that, over the years, my humble postings have provided way more entertainment than some lame DVDs.

Sweeney Todd, the original musical, is a landmark masterpiece. It'll be interesting to see how the movie looks. (I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.)

I'll have to come up with a list of DVDs you ought to watch that will provoke a similar reaction!

Cloud 06-10-2008 01:13 PM

It's been a broadway musical since 1979, though.

SteveDallas 06-10-2008 01:33 PM

Oh I have one... The Pirate Movie! What could be better than swashbuckling adventure on the high seas??

I know where you can get a free copy on dvd.

Sundae 06-10-2008 05:39 PM

Oh send it to Steve, I want the opinion of someone who is more familiar with the original than I was.

I knew the original vaguely, a couple of the songs. But I'm huuuuugely biased because it's Tim Burton, Johnny Depp (who had the best male British accent I know of) Helen Bonham-Carter, Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall etc etc.

Oh and a child actor who can act. What was George Lucas on? Sorry, I'll never get over The Phantom Menace and the amazing wooden child.

Anyway - soundtrack with lyrics and a few stills.
The Worst Pies in London.
Yum Yum

lookout123 06-10-2008 06:22 PM

so now that you've bought Sweeney Todd, are you a top or bottom? and does that mean Jinx is available now?

lumberjim 06-10-2008 06:36 PM

you cocksmokers are the reason jinx thinks i'm a homophobe.

lookout123 06-10-2008 06:54 PM

oh please, she thinks you're a homophobe because of the way you totally freak out anytime she sees you grabbing a guys package.

Flint 06-11-2008 12:39 AM

She thinks you're a homophobe because of the way you always close your eyes when we make love.

classicman 06-11-2008 08:31 AM

:lol2:

Shawnee123 06-11-2008 09:08 AM

She thinks you're a homophobe because of that t-shirt you wear that reads I'm A Homophobe.

elSicomoro 06-11-2008 09:22 AM

Or maybe it's because you say "Cock!" all the time.

lumberjim 06-11-2008 09:22 AM

i rickrolled classicman's voicemail yesterday.

classicman 06-11-2008 09:35 AM

Yes you did and I got it first thing this am - lmao!!! From the first note I knew it was you - Ya COCK!

SteveDallas 06-11-2008 09:57 AM

I wouldn't feel right accepting the DVD gratis. Like I said, I'll trade The Sound of Music. Or, I'll give you some knitting lessons.
