Headaches
I have a headache every day...every....day.
I have been to the GP dozens of times and they say its stress, but i am on holidays now...so that shouldnt be a problem? i'm over headaches!! |
Things I would try:
1.) Less caffeine - even if you don't drink "a lot," your tolerance may have gone down as you get older (I know, none of us are getting older, what am I saying?) 2.) A different pillow and/or sleeping position 3.) Very simple, basic foods for a few days--I get headaches when my meals are too salty, which includes most processed foods these days. I'm assuming your doctor has already checked your blood pressure? |
Watch for MSG, as well.
|
I get horrible headaches when I eat a lot of foods that contain nitrates. Bacon, lunch meat, etc. Bacon is the WORST culprit.
|
It's a toomah!!

most doctors know shit all about chronic problems. Look to lifestyle changes, particularly something in your diet or environment you may be allergic to, but unaware of.
|
Have you tried stretching throughout the day or before bed? Could loosen up those muscles.
|
Are you drinking enough water/other fluids? Your weewee should be the colour of champagne (!) or lighter.

is there a typical progression: starts in your neck and then progresses to the temple(s) or forehead?

If you have a dependency, taking less is going to hurt worse for a short time. But the same applies to heroin, too; it doesn't mean the heroin isn't screwing with your body while you're taking it. |
Whatever the cause, though, there's absolutely no harm in making sure you are properly hydrated. Drink more water.

Seems I get rid of the headaches after a bottle of wine, but I dont wish to go down that track before breakfast :) |
I've heard sex gets rid of headaches AND reduces stress...it's worth a shot!

Head On...apply directly to your forehead.
Head On...apply directly to your forehead. Head On...apply directly to your forehead. Yeah, I'm sure this commercial is regional, but some of you out there have seen it! |
Oh god...thanks for reminding me again why I'm glad I don't see much TV anymore..
|
And thanks for reminding me of my neighbour's weirdo mum from when I was a small lad. Dettol (disinfectant) cured EVERYTHING! Cut finger? Dettol. Bruised leg? Dettol? Headache? dettol in a tissue to hold against your forehead. Upset stomach? same tissue lower down.
Idiot. Well I suppose it might have had a placebo effect, if only the neighbourhood kids were as dumb as she thought. |
Chris Rock said it was Robitussin, as the cure for everything.
"Put a little 'tussin on it, it'll be all right." [/paraphrase] Wasn't there a show or movie where they put Windex on everything? (edit) Oh yeah, My Big Fat Greek Wedding |

I can make a cure at home for nothing. All I need is a small aubergine.

I too suffer from headaches. But mine are caused by several different symptoms, and usually I know what I did to cause it. Unfortunately for me, sex does get rid of the headache *during* but it always comes back just as bad if not worse right after the after glow has passed. So I usually take something for it. I get headaches if I have been having a lot of caffeine lately and I start to cut down, and those I just take something for until it wears off in a day or so. I used to get really bad headaches from eye strain. I wore contacts, and looking at a computer all day just didn't work with that. So I started wearing glasses, and within 6 months my eye strain headaches were almost all gone. I also get headaches from allergies, and those I can only get rid of with allergy medicine. Or if I am too far gone, just regular pain medicine. I also get tension headaches, and those I just have to force myself to relax and wait it out. Maybe if you find the source of your headaches you can get rid of them for the most part. I think it might be more then stress if you feel relaxed but you still have the headache.

Try accupuncture Ducks. I used to get migraines constantly and when I wasn't having a migraine, I had a headache. Eventually I tried accupuncture and now I rarely even get a headache.
I highly recommend it at least as an option. |
I have considered it....I just want to make sure its a GOOD acupuncturist thats gonna be poking needles in me
|
Well, I would recommend seeing someone who uses traditional methods although I know many doctors who also perform accupuncture can get good results too. In my own experience though, the one that seemed to have the best and longest lasting effect on me was a chinese man who had no other medical qualifications.
The best thing would be to ask around. That's really the best way to find someone good. There are a lot of charlatains out there. |
