What sort of Pie am I today?
 

Okay, so I've been encouraged to decide what sort of Pie I am, on a regular basis.

Yesterday, I was little individual blueberry pies, two of them.
Today, I am pumpkin pie.

blackberry, just because we had some last night

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought the exact same thing. I loved the pies she made in that movie.

Today, I am a deep-dish apple pie, with a slice of cheddar cheese.
(And a cup of coffee.)

I am Percocet Pie. I am expensive and require a prescription.

tomorrow I will be Remorse Pie.

I soon hope to be well enough to be banana cream pie OR lemon meringue.

I could make you a nice lemon merangue pie. Might not make the plane trip too well though.

What does a huckleberry taste like? I don't think I've ever even seen one.

That is LMP's great weakness. Meringue that moist does not travel; make it onsite. Even a car trip across town can make the meringue get a bit goopy. It's nice how the first thing it soaks is the graham cracker crust, but if it gets on the upholstery, uh oh.

And it's kind of expensive mailing those heavy little cans of condensed milk, too. ;)

I haven't either, despite their several species and wide distribution throughout North America and parts of Europe.

Huckleberries, bilberries, whortleberries

I LOVE cherry lattice pie!

I am blueberry with cheddar on top. I like it gluey.

Today I am: Chicken Pot Pie

pic 01 -- Red Huckleberries (early in the camping season and high on the bush. later and lower they're gone... just ... gone.) Tart and beautiful, translucent, luminous coral colored fruit, they are delicious.

pic 02 -- Blue Huckleberries (far rarer, just as delicious but not as sublimely beautiful). There is a pair of red huckleberries in the background.

Pizza pie, with mushrooms and pepperoni.
And a Dr. Pepper.

BigV is right...a bit tart but really good. I found out you can get huckleberry syrup in this neighborhood.

So ... how long do you reckon Pie is going to be able to keep this up? Just how many kinds of pie are there? I await eagerly...

Right now I am an Olallieberry pie.

Rhubarb lattice. No strawberries in the mix; they dilute the rhubarb.

Tomorrow, rhubarb custard. For rhubarb plays well with custard.

Yesterday: A blackberry slump. (It got dropped on the floor, but was salvageable.)

Today: Tart Tatin

Pie plays by the 5 second rule, I see...

It was still in the pie-pan, just not presentable to guests.

Today's a new day and today I think I am a Mayhaw Pie!

On the 19th, I was Frito chili pie.
Today, I am peach cobbler.

Mayhaws I've never encountered. From a little distance I'd mistake the tree for a crabapple, especially when in fruit.

Wow, it's been a while.
On the 21st, I was a zwetschgendatsche (damson plum tart)
On the 22nd, I was a cranberry-almond crostata.
Today, I am a honey, rosewater and pistachio pie -- baklava!

Mincemeat (as opposed to mince/d meat) doesn't contain meat technically. Although it does contain suet if it is the genuine article. It's a dark, sticky mix of dried fruit - sweet and slightly gritty. I'm not over-fond of the old mince pies, but I end up eating at least one a year.

Hey, the Recipe thread says mince pies for Christmas.

There was a rotund guy in the movie Pass The Ammo with such a penchant for Moon Pies that he distinctly resembled one. The butterscotch kind.

Shepherds' Pie à la mode: mashed potato is scooped with an ice cream scoop and it's decorated with a hot cherry pepper on top.
