I dunno, it's getting colder here.

I went on a two hour walk around Spitalfields today (fascinating - Hugenots, the silk trade, prostitutes, Jack the Ripper - and we saw Tracey Emin's house and Gilbert & George's house) and I was cold by the end. The guide asked at the beginning if I was sure I'd be okay - wearing a jumper (sweater) and a long wool skirt with no socks and ballet pumps. There was less walking and more standing listening at 16.30 when we finished - brrrrrrrrr! Lovely!

When I went to Greenwich (covered) Market yesterday I got in a conversation with a female stallholder. She was amazed I didn't have a coat on. I went straight from the gym so was wearing a polo shirt and sweatshirt over it. I explained that if it wasn't such a crush in there I've had taken my sweatshirt off too :) She was amazed, but not so amazed she gave me money off the bracelet I was buying for my niece's Christmas present...

Not as cold as I'd like it, but not totally freaky.
Tuesday I am VERY happy about. My friend Teri is coming down, we're doing a London Walk and then going to see Crowded House. I feel better knowing it'd cold, crisp and DRY for walking about.

Quite decent of them to have the Celsius/Fahrenheit scale go all the way down to -50/-60 and all the way up to 50/120, just in case they need to indicate with dark purple that Georgia is experiencing some sort of incredible cooling. And they allocate the color "white" out to 60/140 just in case global warming accelerates.

Decent of SG to convert to Fahrenheit for us

BrianR 12-09-2007 11:35 PM

It's kinda chilly here in Indianapolis but since the whole continental US is my playground, I can tell of warmth and frigid temps.

And I let beginner drivers fresh from their one-week CDL schools drive me around! <shudder>

I am SO looking forward to seeing my wife for New Years.

piercehawkeye45 12-10-2007 05:30 PM

Lucky bastards.

Its warm here if the wind chill is above 0 degrees F.

But at least there is snow on the ground, cold windy weather with no snow is extremely depressing.

Aliantha 12-10-2007 05:43 PM

it's bloody hot here

Ibby 12-10-2007 05:45 PM

I still fucking hate you all.
Yesterday felt like july. It was fucking HOT out.

Ibby 12-10-2007 05:46 PM

Hey, ali, you cant complain, damn dirty backwards aussies. You get winter at SOME point at least.

I was thinking of you truckers as I was driving up 81 last week through the snow. I'm amazed that you do that for a living. It was a tense drive for me, and there seemed to be plenty of trucks out that were doing just fine. Wonder if those drivers were tense too.

Actually, I have a question for you, BrianR. Sitting up so high like that in your rig, does the mist spray from the tires on the salty/wet road cover your windshield too, or can you see over the mist? In my car, you need good wiper blades (and plenty of washer fluid if it's salty.)

Aliantha 12-10-2007 05:55 PM

That's true Ib, although not so much up north, and we don't get much in the way of cold weather where I live either, although it does cool down a bit during the winter months.

lookout123 12-10-2007 05:57 PM

it's freakin cold and rainy here.

Clodfobble 12-10-2007 06:14 PM

Holy crap! Yesterday, it was 80. Today, it was 45.

Tomorrow's expected high? 80 again. WTF indeed.

It's Bush's fault

xoxoxoBruce 12-11-2007 11:36 PM

I'm glad we're on the warm side of the line. Standing a mile from the end of the Philly runway tonight, I could hear the planes but I couldn't see them. The fog/drizzle was so thick, I couldn't see the landing lights on the planes, no less the marker lights.
If it was below freezing, everything would be covered with ice.

Well I bitched about the heat, then the cold. Now, welcome to the sunny south. Crap

TheMercenary 01-01-2008 06:15 PM

bb, I know what you are talking about. You Northerners come down here and get yer damm cold weather, we don't want it! :D

monster 01-01-2008 06:16 PM

What's wrong with that forecast?

TheMercenary 01-01-2008 06:25 PM

Not suitable to living in the South! :D

Now if it were Boston it would be just another cold azz day.

monster 01-01-2008 06:30 PM

it goes up to 62 -that's like summer temps -what's cold about that? I can see that the 17 might be a bit chilly down there, but that's overnight, and only once.

Look at all those beautiful clear skies! And I love me a thunderstorm.

Too many trips to wood pile with wheel barrow, cleaning out the ashes. Hell I'm not getting any younger. No longer have a pickup to haul wood. But on bright side, I didn't have to check the antifreeze in it tonight. :lol2:

Or any night for that matter!!!! and we don't have to warm the engine block before driving either. :D

busterb 01-01-2008 06:56 PM

Nope. Mines in junk yard.

Ibby 01-01-2008 07:55 PM

60 degrees here, maybe even 58.
People're dyin' of the cold, too. Parkas and fur coats, the lot.
They all think i'm a crazy little whitey, with my t-shirts and jeans. how am i not FREEZING?

If it's not snowing, its too warm.

busterb 01-01-2008 08:54 PM

Perhaps, cuz yr 16 years old? Enjoy!

kerosene 01-02-2008 07:09 PM

I would LOVE some 60 degree weather about now.

piercehawkeye45 01-02-2008 07:43 PM

40s is shorts weather in Minnesota. It was in the 40s in Wisconsin and a few people commented on my short sleeve shirt.

Some people in Minnesota wear shorts in 20 degree weather, now that is crazy.
