All I Want for Christmas is...
This is where you write up your wish list, folks. What do you hope to get? What do you know you're going to get already? What have you already gotten and decided to call it Christmas because it was so damn extravagant?
None of the above applies to me this year. I've got more than I need already. So...what do I want? 1) A fresh, personal naughty picture from Labrat, and plans for a weekend in Iowa. 2) A recording of LJ playing "Ring of Fire", with video. 3) A calendar featuring photos of all the Cellarites, dressed or undressed. That's all. |
wicked distortion, and death metal style lyrics ok?
|
Required, actually.
|
Heelies and a Djembe.
oh, and world peace and all that shit. I've never really wanted anythig before, and these are both really out of the the question for various reasons, but it's fun to dream :D |

hmm...things I want
- a tripod for my camera - a better job - an idea of what I want to study to go back to college - another visit from my boyfriend (he's trying for march) What? it is a WISHlist after all... |
My non-selfish answer is for my family and friends to be happy and safe.
My selfish answer is just a little breathing room a la money. Oh, and a camera. And a DVD-rom. And cable. And home internet. A new car. Some clothes. A trip to a cabin with a sweet, funny, caring man. To feel better. Etc and so on... ;) |
Li'l Johnny had been good this year, and his parents asked him what he wanted for Christmas.
He said "I wanna watch". So they let him. When I'm in hell, please send me cookies, won't you? |
I'll prolly have a room nearby, Zen. I'm gonna be Satan's girlfriend, so you can come over and watch cable and eat ice cubes sometime if you want.
|
I'll be sure to pop over and say "Hell-o" then.
And when we eat the ice cubes I'll be sure to say "Hades are pretty good." |

Check out some of the tremendous benefits that NHI will bring and see what you think: Every citizen of the US will be covered from birth to death. No more pre-existing conditions to be excluded from coverage. No more expensive deductibles or co-pays. All prescription medications will be covered. All dental and eye care will be included. Mental health and substance abuse care will be fully covered. Long term and nursing home services will be included. You will always choose your own doctors and hospitals. Costs of coverage will be assessed on a sliding scale basis. Tremendously simplified system of medical administration Total portability – your coverage not tied to any job or location. Existing Medicare benefits for those over 65 will remain the same or be vastly improved in many cases. Total crap... They are trying to sell you the world. It will never happen. Be careful what you wish for. |
I know what the bill says, ok. I read it. Quoting it was no necessary.
It might never become law, but what's the harm in voting for it. Besides, seem to be in the majority on this. http://www.michaelmoore.com/sicko/wh...1&qnum=pnum649 |
why do you feel we have a "right" to "free" healthcare?
|

www.michaelmoore.com/sicko[quote] Is it even remotely freakin feasible and, if so, at what cost? Oh and Michael Moore is another reason NOT to vote for it. |

EDIT. Sorry all, this is the wrong thread for this post. So for Christmas, I want some common sense and self-restraint relating to my posting urges! |
Free Healthcare = The end of progressive medicine!
I do wish for ALF to make a return to TV, but with the original cast just new, modern storylines. |
Good Health

because everything has a price. nothing is free.
i put a price on my health. it is the dollar amount that i pay to an insurance company every month. i receive no subsidies and no corporate breaks. the insurance company quotes what my family will cost to insure and i write the check. the money i use for that purpose would be more fun to spend elsewhere, but i decided the coverage was a top priority. what you want is to be able to put a dollar value on your health and have someone else write the check to pay for it. no thanks mister. there is a safety net of minimal health coverage for extreme cases. it's a pretty crappy system, but it isn't meant to be attractive. the gap between that and "good" healthcare is up to you to provide for you and yours. not my responsibility. |

Ok, but what if your insurance company decides not to pay for a life-saving procedure you or your family might need done? |
I retract my H.R. 676 wish just cuz it's causin' so much shit around here.

In an ideal world, we wouldn't need police, armed forces, money..... shall we vote to outlaw these so we'll be closer to ideal? BTW, yes Britain has National Insurance. It doesn't give all the things promised in the bill that Merc quoted (thanks Merc, I hadn't read it). In fact it had to stop providing a lot of those in order to survive. And you have never been able to choose your providers to any realiatic degree. It just wouldn't work if you could. That list of pie in the sky is what gives the movement a bad name. You need legislation to deal with the "how" not the "what". Voting for unrealistic ideals is stupid and asking for trouble. oh dear, did I rant? That's my mean atheist way of spoiling everyone's Christmas  Would you believe I'm actually in favour of National insurance? :D |

Does anyone have any experience with 529 educational savings funds? I'm thinking of setting up one for my sisters-in-law's sproggins. (There's precisely one as of Nov. 29th, but I'm sure there will be more.)
Since we're not procreating, I figure I'll chip in for their eddumication, hey? |

I would like simply to spend time with those I love without all the drama and stress that's normally associated with holiday get-togethers. I don't have a lot of materialistic possessions, nor do I need any more. Some peace, serenity and relaxation would be just plenty. Oh, and a hug from each of my kids. That will make my year.
