rules:

volunteer to play.

I'll start by being the director of the first item/whatever.

the first volunteer has to get a picture or pictures of what I tell them to....then post it/them...

then they get to direct the next person. and so on.

nothing too dangerous or illegal, k? honor system....original photos only...no googling.

Well it is now...

BigV 11-21-2007 03:47 PM

sloooooowwww...

I suggest that once the subject is posted, that it's open to all dwellars to post a picture, that they have taken, of that subject. Then the poster of the picture bats into the air the subject of the next photo.

Flint 11-21-2007 04:10 PM

BigV 11-21-2007 04:25 PM

Do we have to make more rules? like a time frame or something?

LJ 11-21-2007 04:39 PM

if it's going to be open floor, then first come first serve....

might get frustrating if youre out taking a special shot, and someone beats you to the punch

also, might fade away if someone forgets its their turn....and doesnt get the shot.

LJ 11-21-2007 04:43 PM

ALSO....a picture you already have shouldnt count.

the point of this thread was the 'treasure hunt aspect of it.

Agreed. Shoot faster.

Hopefully, the previous two points will render this unhappy possibility moot.

Dude. It's *still* a treasure hunt, for me.

BigV 11-21-2007 06:45 PM

Well, I guess that means I pick the next pic. Cool.

I spy with my little eye....

Something underwater that shouldn't be underwater.

it's still steve dallas's turn, V. I was busy at work when i considered the open floor possibility.....as I reflect on it now, though, that destroys the whole point of the thread. which is for one person to challenge another to go get a NEW picture of something.....

not to use one they already have....

i mean....the 13 things threads, the random pic threads, etc all cover that.

cool eagle, btw. but....let's do this the way i imagined when i started the thread.

Steve dallas gets to decide who goes next.....be it merc or you....after he posts his cool bird on a feeder.

ok?

monster 11-21-2007 10:20 PM

I definitely think pics you've already taken shouldn't count. Levels the playing field and all that.

TheMercenary 11-24-2007 09:53 PM

Hmmmmmm.... kay. The time frame thing is what makes it difficult to participate.

LJ 11-24-2007 10:00 PM

yeah....if people are gonna take a really long time to get the shots...or if the shots are particularly difficult to find......

i have faith in SD though......

::jabs steve in the ribs::

Aliantha 11-24-2007 11:54 PM

Why not make it a 24 hour thing, and if you can't do it in that time, someone else will get the gong to find the shot.

This works because it'll make people move quickly (when ever they can) because a) they want to have the right to name the next object for the next person and; b) if someone else snaps a cool one while they're waiting 'just in case', it means they'll get to take over the mantle.

Just a thought, but I don't intend to participate, so it's up to those who do.

Razzmatazz13 11-25-2007 07:09 PM

Me!

zippyt 11-25-2007 07:17 PM

get her Good SD !!

SteveDallas 11-26-2007 12:49 AM

OK...

Something in your home, that no visitor has ever seen.

Razzmatazz13 11-26-2007 06:55 PM

Cool topic, I have something in mind, but I've been slapped by the "CLEAN YOUR ROOM" fairy, soo, it'll be just a bit longer until I get them up. :D

TheMercenary 11-27-2007 12:47 AM

So I don't get it, who is up and what is the subject?

Razzmatazz13 11-27-2007 01:08 AM

ARGH! I had a whole post written out and then I pressed backspace but it went back a PAGE instead! Now I'm tired and grumpy, I'll retype and post tomorrow

To answer your question merc, I'm up, and my subject is "something in your home, that no visitor has ever seen" which will be posted tomorrow after I roll out of bed.

I've done the backspace erase button mistake, and you know what? The "forward" button on the browser control bar restores the post I've written.
Did reading that make you happier?

I won't speak to your question about relative happiness, but I will say that in Firefox, your technique does *not* restore my post.

kerosene 11-27-2007 12:16 PM

Seems to work for me, V. In Firefox, that is.

LJ 11-27-2007 12:17 PM

still sleeping then? slug. get up!

ZenGum 11-27-2007 12:22 PM

I'm in firefox too and I tested it on that post (and this one) to be sure.
:firefox:

Razzmatazz13 11-27-2007 12:29 PM

I used the forward button, and there was no post to be found, I assure you.

Anyway, I'm up now...here's my entry:

My dad gave these to me a looong time ago. He collected them on the beach with me when I was younger I guess.

http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l7...3/crabbies.jpg

Baby horseshoe crabs tend to get up too high on the beach during low tide and dry out leaving these perfect little shells. Around the penny are also baby conch shells from egg sacs which wash up as well. These aren't so much a secret from others, but they're important to me because they came from my dad and they're very fragile, so I keep them behind my lamp on my side table...thereby nobody gets to see them. (And, my dad has seen them, but he doesn't count as a visitor because he lives here.) :D Enjoy!

http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l7.../crabbies2.jpg

Ok...who's next?

Shawnee123 11-27-2007 12:33 PM

Wow, I've seen horseshoe crabs before, but never small baby ones like that. I was wondering what that "big disk" in the middle was until you said it was a penny! Coolness!

Kitsune 11-27-2007 12:35 PM

I'm game.

BigV 11-27-2007 12:40 PM

typing in this box

then clickin outside this box to change the focus (because inside this box backspace only does what it's expected to do)

type type type

After some experimentation I think the crucial difference is this:

Your technique works when in advanced reply mode.

Your technique does not work when in quick reply mode.

Please confirm.

Razzmatazz13 11-27-2007 12:44 PM

Ah, spose I forgot that our non-american cellarites may not know how big a penny is, since it was only there for size reference....for you guys...uhm...well you can see a bit of my keyboard in the background of the first shot, I assume keyboards are more or less the same size...

(Working on an idea for Kitsune...)

Shawnee123 11-27-2007 12:52 PM

No, I'm a merkin, but I just didn't realize it was a penny because I was more focused on the crabs.

Razzmatazz13 11-27-2007 12:57 PM

Yar, not you, but your post sparked that potential issue in my brain s'all. :)

Razzmatazz13 11-27-2007 12:59 PM

I like it! I'm off to look...

TheMercenary 11-27-2007 02:22 PM

We have horseshoe crabs all around our place. We have to go by boat to get there but they are everywhere. I never saw any that small. The ones we see are bigger than a dinner plate.

LJ 11-27-2007 03:01 PM

TheMercenary 11-27-2007 03:08 PM

So how is this thing working, whose turn is it and what is the subject?

You spoke up, so I guess its your turn! The subject is: any printed sign with a misspelling, grammatical error, or punctuation mistake. Extra points for Engrish or misuse of apostrophe's.

Undertoab 11-27-2007 03:14 PM

is LJ on your ignore list or something? re read post #1

then re read the one(#9) i addressed specifically to you explaining it again.

Well, if Merc doesn't take it I'm turning the subject selection for the next volunteer back over to you so you can fuck it up proper.

LJ 11-27-2007 03:42 PM

it's one of my gifts

TheMercenary 11-27-2007 04:54 PM

Ok, being this is Georgia I know I can find a fucked up sign. It may take a day. I'll be back. First let me check my folders.

bluecuracao 11-27-2007 05:10 PM

Folders of existing photos? I think you have to take a new photo for this game, don't you?

LJ 11-27-2007 05:15 PM

oh for fuck's sake.
