November 5, 2007: Horse in the mud

Since we missed last Friday - here is a nice story for you. I guess this horse (named King) had a pretty interesting day. He got stuck in the mud, chained up, and then drug out of the hole. It took four attempts to get him out.

Nice one, Oafed!

ZenGum 11-05-2007 08:37 AM

Good to see a happy ending. I imagine the horse must have been a bit panicky and so those rescuers were risking a nasty bite or kick there, bless 'em.

Although, you do realize you have deprived future paleontologists of a very interesting specimen?

Spexxvet 11-05-2007 08:41 AM

Looks like it'll need to be hosed off before we cook it. :yum:

But a French family with a very good diner.

Cloud 11-05-2007 09:07 AM

poor thing

wolf 11-05-2007 09:25 AM

From the saddle I take it that some gaping idiot rode him into that?

Skylight 11-05-2007 09:48 AM

despite the many attempts it took to get the dear out; at least it was cheaper than a day at the spa..

</awkwardness>

pegusitas 11-05-2007 10:06 AM

Bathroom break?

Is it me, or does it look like the guy in the background of the last shot is taking a leak?

wolf 11-05-2007 10:08 AM

Welcome Skylight! No need to feel awkward.

zippyt 11-05-2007 10:11 AM

I beleve dude in red is takeing a leak !

ZenGum 11-05-2007 10:18 AM

Hi Skylight!
:welcome:

Hope you stick around, there is a bit of an Australian contingent building up ... I like it when there are people closer to my time zone. It makes for faster replies.
Also we can talk about vegemite and pavlova and stuff.

jamamaspoke 11-05-2007 12:31 PM

I bet that poor horse was exhausted when finally freed....the guy in red was so happy he had to take a leak?!...:eyebrow: Might he be the rider? only non emergency person...

Clodfobble 11-05-2007 02:25 PM

Artex!!! You have to fight the sadness, Artex! NOOOOooooo!

stlbob 11-05-2007 02:45 PM

Just because there is a saddle on the horse does not mean someone was riding it at the time it got stuck in the mud. How else do you propose they hook a chain to the horse?

I was feeling left out, so I Googled "Artex sadness" and see this thread is already at the top for it. Jeez. Just an hour has passed and already at the top of Google.

Clodfobble 11-05-2007 03:40 PM

Ah, that's because I misspelled it. Here they say it's "Artax."

Sundae 11-05-2007 03:57 PM

I worked out what you meant almost immediately, but it did occur to me that I hadn't noticed the horse had the same name as a ceiling cover product in the UK when I read it. All is now explained :)

rkzenrage 11-05-2007 04:27 PM

Flashback, these pics, without the saddle, could have been taken years ago at our ranch.
Exact same thing happened, she just wandered down there and got stuck.
We used cotton straps tied to chains on a front-end-loader.

Wonderful.

xoxoxoBruce 11-05-2007 05:07 PM

The guy in the red shirt got the horse stuck and had to go stand in the corner.

Aliantha 11-05-2007 05:37 PM

It's also possible the horse bolted and that's how it came to be stuck in the mud with a saddle on.

lammie123 11-05-2007 07:18 PM

Maybe the horse didn't want to be up sh*t creek without a saddle!
(longtime lurker...finally registered just to say that!)

Razzmatazz13 11-05-2007 07:37 PM

Welcome!

Alas, there is no fighting the sadness of Artex.

ViennaWaits 11-05-2007 10:29 PM

Yummy! Chocolate-Covered Mr. Ed.

:lame: I know. But we've been away from the food references for SO long. :(

morie 11-06-2007 04:31 AM

he could be taking a leak. or he could equally well be jacking off. maybe he has a horse fetish.

So, the horse thought: "I'm gonna go for a walk. I'd better put this saddle on in case I get stuck in a mudhole and someone needs a place to hook a chain to get me out." :3_eyes:
