I think I saw the trailer on tv - can't think where else I would have seen it as I haven't been to the cinema in months. Yay Antipodean horror!

DanaC 10-06-2007 05:45 AM

I saw it the ad for it on tv yesterday, that's why I went looking for it

DanaC 10-06-2007 05:46 AM

Anybody ever seen the film Bodymelt? Now that was classic antipodean horror, of the very best quality *grins*

ZenGum 10-06-2007 08:59 AM

apropos of nothing (except that the title of this thread reminded me of this), check out the sheep vs. gravity screen saver. No sheep were harmed in the creation of this software.

I love it. Aussie movies rock.

Happy Monkey 10-08-2007 01:43 PM

Don't you mean Kiwi movies?

freshnesschronic 10-08-2007 02:17 PM

I bet this won't be as good as the original Black Sheep.

Chris Farley and David Spade pwnz!

Aussie/Kiwi -you Canucks are all the same -no ear for an accent.

If you get the chance, rent Isolation. It's an Irish horror film about cows. It's tense, atmospheric and jumpy.

Okay HM worked on it, but it really is worth watching - a million miles from Hollywood (like Creep) low budget, few effects (and no CGI) and a great feel for the decaying agricultural landscape.

Sadly it went straight to DVD, but that doesn't reflect the fact the quality, it's better than many films I've paid for at the cinema. And it's going well on download on Sky.

Go on, give the British/ Irish film industry a boost, rent it.

Ohhh....I don't know about that...I mean it certainly is one of the best...but there are many fine contenders. I still have a great affection for the original Evil Dead and the pre-evil dead short, In the Woods.

Kiwi I think.

ElBandito 11-14-2007 05:09 PM

Bad Taste is kiwi. It's Peter Jackson's first film! :)

After that you need to watch 'Meet the Feebles', THEN you need to watch 'Brain Dead' ('Dead Alive' in the USA).

And Black Sheep is great, but you've got to approach it with a sense of humour as it's a 'black comedy'.
I'd recommend it, because of that slice of little kiwi life. That and I went to university with the lead actor - Nathan Meister.

If you want some other horrors;
'The Irrefutable Truth About Demons' is rather good for kiwi fare. And 'Ferryman'.

DanaC 11-14-2007 05:32 PM

ElBandito, have you seen Bodymelt? One of the best Aussie shclock horror films ever!

ElBandito 11-14-2007 08:24 PM

Nope... not yet anyway :D

HumanBeast 12-29-2007 02:13 PM

They can finally kill that nippy sheepdog.

DanaC 12-30-2007 05:29 PM

Nooooo......don't kill the sheep dog! The nippiest ones are best *cuddles pilau*
