October 4, 2007: Puppy with a heart marking

http://cellar.org/2007/dogheart1.jpg

A long-time lurker sends this along, suggesting it for a Friday. It's a superb Friday image, but I actually have a great one in the queue... you'll have to wait and see tomorrow. In the meantime, this is certainly a Cute Overload candidate, and although the cloyingly cute stuff generally doesn't go on IotD, I know some of you will be oohing and aahing over this pup, and that forces me to post it. Enjoy.

Let the "how to cook it" posts begin.

Nothing like a hearty dinner. :-)

lumberjim 10-04-2007 01:09 PM

deja vu

wolf 10-04-2007 01:13 PM

Dye job, cashing in on the trend in heart-puppies. Gotta be.

lumberjim 10-04-2007 01:28 PM

barefoot serpent 10-04-2007 01:37 PM

ssssswip... thwack! /Cupid

spudcon 10-04-2007 03:05 PM

I think he'll end up as pup ka bob.

Coign 10-04-2007 03:15 PM

Well the puppy is in Japan not China so he may survive a year or two from the resturant.

Aliantha 10-04-2007 08:08 PM

I wonder how much that puppy would sell for.

monster 10-04-2007 08:44 PM

So that's a cute animal with a heart,

here's one with clubs

DucksNuts 10-04-2007 10:06 PM

Yeah I saw the other stuff....and I know you do....they just make me sad....then really friggin angry.

monster 10-04-2007 10:35 PM

that's sorta why I posted it...... the cute-wanna-adopt side gets too much publicity.... People need to be reminded that it ain't all hearts and.. well.... hearts.

think-floyd 10-04-2007 10:47 PM

My dog has a spot shaped like a pancreas.
(I registered with cellar just so I could post this...)

Elspode 10-05-2007 12:42 AM

You should open him up and see what shape his pancreas is.

In Japan, they do not eat dog. The do in Korea. I can't speak for China.

But: Dog, no. Horse, yes.

(I tease my students:
Have you ever ridden a horse?
Have you ever eaten horse meat?
(if yes to both ...)
Was it the same horse?
(Cue irrational squeamishness and immediate denial.)
How do you know?

PS I've tried it. Bland.

DanaC 10-05-2007 06:34 AM

Bland but smelly. I recall my dad cooking up some horsemeat one time (can't remember why, I think he was using it to feed the dog) I seem to recall it stank to high heaven as it cooked.

Well....I honestly would look to what my Da does as any indication of what people do over here, he's a tad eccentric. Generally speaking horsemeat isn't well regarded by Brits. But...he cooked it that one time.
