Al Gore III Charged With Drug Possession
Gore's Son Charged With Drug Possession
LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (AP) -- Al Gore's son was charged Friday with possessing marijuana and other drugs that authorities say were discovered in his car after he was pulled over this month for speeding. He faces two felony counts of drug possession, two misdemeanor counts of drug possession without a prescription and one misdemeanor count of marijuana possession, the district attorney's office said in a statement. Gore also was charged with a traffic infraction for allegedly driving faster than 100 miles per hour. Prosecutors said he could be sentenced to a maximum of three years and eight months in prison if convicted on all counts, though he might be eligible for a drug treatment program instead of prison. Kalee Kreider, a spokeswoman for Gore's parents, said the family had no comment. The charges stem from July 4, when Orange County sheriff's deputies say they pulled Gore over for speeding. Gore was allegedly driving a 2006 blue Toyota Prius at about 100 mph. Upon searching the car, deputies say they discovered less than an ounce of marijuana and a variety of medications - including Xanax, Valium, Vicodin and Adderall. Authorities said I wonder why this wasn't splashed all over the radio & TV - or did I just miss it? |
No surprise. What kind of politician's kid would he be if he hadn't done this. Living up to the stereotype, quite well.
And who HASN'T gotten caught at least once for marijuana. Really. :D I mean let's be serious. Not by the police I mean, but by your girlfriend, aunt or heck your neighbor catching you lying on his grass at noon watching the clouds go by. |
He hasn't gotten the Bush daughters treatment from the press, has he?
I think any really successful politician will be a pretty bad parent. They spend their days engaged in other peoples business rather than their own, that is not ideal. |

This isn't really big news (or news at all), I hate this kind of stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if most kids in his situation will do that. The pot isn't bad, the 100 mph worries me. |

Being environmentally responsible and smoking some doobage are not necessarily mutually exclusive. ;)

Really, stories like this are fluff for the ignorant masses. Stories about the Bush twins, Chelsey's latest boyfriend, or some Prince in the UK who used poor judgement, all the same. AKA Random Stupid Stuff. |
What y'all should do while you ride around on your motorcycles is smash people's TVs. Seriously.

Nah, he just went to the store to get more tin foil and got abducted by aliens disguised as republicans on the way back.
Or, more likely, republicans disguised as aliens... |

But most interesting of all - did anyone notice? Urbane Guerrilla apparently picked up Thomas Barnett's book again. His reference to China as a member of the New Core implies he finally got through a few first chapters. Barnett's book is not easy reading. It does require grasp of some fundamental military and political principles. Barnett takes it to some very complex and multidimensional conclusions. It will be interesting to see how Urbane Guerrilla deals with concepts that contradict his "America does not do nation building" political agenda. I am surprised I even commented in this thread. In hindsight, there was nothing worth commenting on. But the RFID thread was going askew rather than going after a 'bigger picture'. |
Gee, thank goodness we have you to set us all straight tw.
|
[Pauses to extrude tongue in tw's direction, as Barnett really ain't that obscurantist, checks off appropriate block on checklist, puts list away.]

Oh, enough; he means Electrical Engineer, I think. Though having high-voltage sparks jumping from nipple to nipple...

Boeing is doing something about it

I recall a new tire design from Michelin that did not use air. A prototype was demonstrated. That meant the tire would never be marketed. Eventually its faults were reported - too much vibration. If biofuel was viable, then it would not be reported. Boeing is simply doing what any engineering company would do. Look at everything. If they see something worthy, then the Seattle Times will not report it until it is ready for market. But such stories are good for those who judge by emotion. "Boeing is an environmentally friendly company. They use pond scum." |
Biofuels already exist. They refining processes are constantly being updated and improved. It is more a question of when at this point - not if. Do a simple google search before preaching outdated nothingness.

Your assumption that it came from a press release shows you don't understand the relationship between Boeing and the Seattle Times. The Times is constantly publishing in depth reports about Boeing, without permission or help from the company, often to Boeing's chagrin. Boeing doesn't manufacture the engines, which would be the primary consideration for any move to biofuels. They do, however, have to consider the fuel storage and handling. This would be especially true of Boeing Business jets that compete with Embraer. Boeing also frequently funds, and lends technical support, to start-ups that would enhance/support the airline industry. |
