WoW

WATCH THIS!

This is insane. I played world of warcraft trial, thought it was fun, but never wanted to pay 20 bucks a month for it or whatever. I never got addicted or anything, but seeing this I'm so glad I never got into it. I know about 10 friends who are addicted to it, but I don't think they got this insane.

WTF. All those types of games can be very addicting (pokemon anyone?) and they are very hard to shake off when you're locked in. The problem is that there is never an end to it so you can go on forever.

Thats why I will never get into one of the those games every again.

Rexmons 06-21-2007 01:50 PM

the greatest WoW video ever.

LEEEEEEEROOOOOOY JEEEEEENKIIIIIIINSSS!!!

be-bop 06-21-2007 05:19 PM

How can you concentrate and play the game with all these voices?
Give me a FPS anyday :D

kerosene 06-21-2007 08:40 PM

That reminds me so much of being 16 or so, and my brother and dad having those kinds of arguments.

"You've crossed the line??"

Kid crossed the line with the first round of infantile whining.

If the folks hadn't let him get away with that shit when he was three, they wouldn't be having this problem now.

Please remember that parent is an active, not passive, verb as well as a noun. Thank you.

freshnesschronic 06-22-2007 02:59 AM

"Please, beat your kids."

Haha, Russell Peters act.

I couldn't hear the OT, so I was only relying on the text on screen.
It made it very apparent that the parents were negotiating from the beginning.
Even children used to getting their own way usually respond when spoken to in the "right" way ie no negotiation, no compromise. Otherwise they'd never get through school.

I accept it must be hard though.

I just listened. Now that everyone is out of the office I could turn up the volume.

What a little asshole, is all I can say.

The American Medical Association has lost it's collective mind.

We were having a discussion about this at work, so I played the first clip for our shrink.

I've been thinking about this carefully, though, and am considering the option of going out on disability ... for Video Game Addiction and Binge Eating Disorder.

I just have to get a good couch for my ass to grow into before I can start the paperwork.

Fixed, thanks.

I was a link pasting monster last night. I wonder what I pasted on the nasa history link?

kerosene 06-23-2007 11:08 AM

After Dakota and I watched the first clip, we both determined that our kids, at their current young ages, would never get away with this behavior. It seems like in the well-meaning attempt to give their kids respect in being their own human beings, some parents forget to give their kids necessary boundaries. I believe that an extreme in either direction is dangerous.

The AMA should call it Ineffective Parenting Disorder.

I know a kid who treats his Mom this way. At our house he is used as an example. It works well.

Interestingly, that's what we call it.

Sometimes, though, you do get a case of Bad Teenager, Not Otherwise Specified.

skysidhe 06-23-2007 01:51 PM

My kid has been grown up since about 3 years of age.

I missed all that.

Iggy 06-25-2007 11:36 AM

I just watched it, and while I can see how these games are addictive, it is what you make of it. I play WoW, but I am also 23 years old, don't live with my parents, and I still juggle a social life and job just fine. That usually means I only play once or twice a week, but hey. If you don't want to get addicted then don't let yourself. It is that simple. If it wasn't WoW, it would be something else with these kids/people.

That kid was way out of line the way he was treating his parents. I agree with wolf, if they had stopped that horrible whining early on it wouldn't be a problem now.
