$22,000 house cat

some guys at a company called LifeStyle Pets have bred a housecat thats the size of a dog and looks like a leopard. here is the article.

This is what the cat looks like:

several breeders in recent years have been experimenting along these lines. The problem is that cats really are not tame animals, and the larger cats like these never lose their wildness, particularly as they get older, and are not good pets.

The person who breeds a truly docile larger or "wild" looking cat suitable for companion animals stands to make a fortune, but it hasn't happened yet.

Shawnee123 05-31-2007 12:15 PM

It sure is beautiful, though.

Cloud 05-31-2007 12:18 PM

cats are beautiful creatures. I spend a lot of time just gazing at mine. they make me happy.

Rexmons 05-31-2007 12:18 PM

cloud supposedly its super tame, the website says it gets along great with children and other pets, even more than a regular cat would. you know what sucks is, they neuter / spay them before you get them so you cant start breeding your own. maybe the chinese guy who comes in with bootleg dvds will have one soon

:fingerscrossed:

Me too. Always wanted to cuddle a big old tiger, dangerous or not! I can't have my cats, my ex took custody back after I had them for 3 years, because I moved. I visit them sometimes.

yeah, but I don't believe it. Especially at that price.

Rexmons 05-31-2007 02:22 PM

for $22,000 fuck just being tame, that thing better be able to juggle or something

glatt 05-31-2007 02:48 PM

or something....

*snicker*

Cloud 05-31-2007 05:30 PM

(sigh) they are certainly beautiful, though

bluecuracao 05-31-2007 07:01 PM

Except for the longer neck and more spots, he looks just like my kitty...and he was free. :)

xoxoxoBruce 05-31-2007 09:17 PM

Even if they were just as tame as your favorite lap cat, how many times has your lap cat cut/scratched you, just playing, or when startled?

Booooornnnnn free, as free as the wind blows
As free as the grass grows.

(Note to self: must stop thinking of and posting theme songs from the past.)

people used to keep cheetahs as pets in classical times.

ouch.

TheMercenary 06-01-2007 02:39 PM

She is beautiful, but would be much more beautiful skinned and streched out on my wall or as a custom hat.

Shawnee123 06-01-2007 02:39 PM

The fur part or the innards part?

Fur part. Innards would take to long to dry out, but it might be cool to have a big dried cat heart on the shelf. Or maybe the brain and skull in a jar. That would be cool too.:)

Cloud 06-01-2007 03:07 PM

that's supposed to be a hat? that's one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen.

It actually is pretty cool when worn about. But it tends to get pretty hot after a while. I could see how trappers and the like used them to keep themselves warm in the winter.

Here are some more, pass the cursor over the first picture for a close up:

They also had servants or slaves to actually handle the beasts. Ouch, indeed.

merc is such a complete asshat that we don't even need any more applicants.

Cloud 06-01-2007 04:01 PM

"hat comes with feet, glass eyes, teeth, and a long back."

there's just something so wrong about that!

I'm not a Merc fan, but what is your deal with hats?
I have a fur hat and several leather hats. If you have leather shoes or belts it is no different.

xoxoxoBruce 06-01-2007 06:13 PM

I don't think it was anything more than an opportunity to call him an asshat.

Damm, so does this mean you are not coming to dinner? And you are correct, part of the hat is the ass end, the bit just above the tail.

A man in a hat once broke my heart. I still can't talk about it...
