My 9yo daughter saved up and worked hard and finally got enough to buy this toy while on sale at ToysRUs for $40.



I was prepared to be disappointed -we hadn't seen any videos or ads, we were looking for a different flying thing when we saw this offer. She was worried it would be hard to control. it's brilliant. And so dragonfly-like. -much better outside than in. Our neighbor thought it was a huge insect and came for a closer look. Now I want one :lol: We thought the Robosapiens (made by the same people) not worth the $$, but I'm suprised this toy doesn't cost more. (Did I mention wanting one? :cool: ) If you're looking for a present in the next few months, this is it. Damn, I wish I'd got one for Mother's day (and we don't "do" mother's day.... :lol:)

That does look really cool, how hard is it to control? And I agree the robo things are a waste of money - my mother loves them and keeps buying them for my kids.... and they keep sitting on a shelf.

I can't play the video. Would you mind giving us the name of the toy?

It's a dragonfly by WowWee toys.

It seemed hard to control at first, but a 9-year-old got the hang of it within 24 hours and managed to dive-bomb her brother with band-aid necessary results :lol:. The instructions don't mention giving it a slight shove to get it started, but you do need to and you can see people doing that in all the videos.

that thing does look pretty fun, unfortunately i think it's too advanced for my 3yr old niece :-(

I remember buying a windup bird that flew like that. I was impossible to control but it flew at least 15 feet.

That looks like a lot of fun, although maybe difficult to steer. I wonder what the signal range of the transmitter is.

you know what would be funny as hell, if you made a super realistic bee costume for that thing and scared the ever loving shit out of people.

We've been beating the heck out of one here. They really do work well and are durable. I was watching lil'G fly it and she seemed to lose control at about 60 or 70 feet. They fly really well outside on still days. You need a light touch to fly indoors but you can develop that.

One of my coworkers has one. There's been one of those here in the office for about a month. Whenever the fin-de-semaine feeling hits on a Friday afternoon, out it comes for a few laps of the office.

I just got one for father's day! I was trying to convince my wife that we should buy one for our daughter's 8th birthday next week, but she got one for me instead! She knows me well. It's fun!

My older son usually takes some ridiculous toy when he goes to Le Mans each year (he went this week) - this year it was a giant catapult affair that launches water bombs a claimed 300 feet (I'm waiting to hear if he has been strung up by the French as a result!). I thought (quietly to myself, naturally) that this was pretty awesome - then, blow me down, in today's paper there was an item about a saucer-shaped object that floats unassumedly in the swimming pool and is remote-controlled - the operator can surreptitiously position the object opposite a chsoen victim, line it up and then shoot a jet of water over 10 feet in their direction.

Now, should I tell my son about this.....?

I saw some motorized pool chair "bumper cars" that looked really cool--but they looked a little too slow to be really fun

Thanks CF. $130 is a little outside my budget, but that would be so neat for our pool (small neighnorhood pool -20 yards by 10, seating round the edge, everyone in range :D)

No law that I know of prevents you from hopping up those bumper boats.
