Unsafe sex toys (Adult Content)

So, in answer to my own challenge (and yes, I realize that's inane), and because we can't have too many sex threads, I call your attention to this page from my favorite sex blogger, Ms. Violet Blue:

http://www.tinynibbles.com/unsafe.html

I think it is an excellent and informative page, because it talks about the difference between real sex toys and novelty sex toys, how many novelty items are made from unsafe materials with unsafe designs, and good pussy health. (There are also wonderful pages elsewhere on her page, e.g. how to surf porn safely).

Question for discussion: Are toys worth it, or just a waste of money? (Besides a basic vibrator for women--that's SO worth it! :) )

For good pussy health, I like to make sure that we always provide plenty of fresh clean water and a nutritious, high quality cat food.

Cloud 05-14-2007 10:15 PM

Oh, lovely pussy! O pussy, my love,
What a beautiful pussy you are!

I had no idea nonoxynol-9 was harmful. In sex ed in high school that was one of the things they told us to use to kill the sperm!!! It's a good thing I don't use it.

Novelty Products Not Safe At Any Speed

* Nonoxynol-9 removes skin. Really. Avoid any and all lube, condoms and "toy cleaner" with Nonoxynol-9. N-9 is a detergent that has been shown to cause cervical abrasions, strips away rectal lining, and only kills HIV/AIDS in clinical settings. if you're curious, look for the article, "The Nonoxynol-9 Scandal: How 'AIDS Prevention' Put Women and Gay Men at Risk by Patrick Califia" and also read, "The Scandal of Nonoxynol-9".

What happened to plain old spit??? Just hold the snuff :bolt:

Cloud 05-15-2007 10:58 PM

spit as a sex toy? not very slippery, or safe.

only for the desperate. and drooling isn't a turn on. darn it.

Sheldonrs 05-16-2007 10:11 AM

Not much into the toys stuff. My bf loves poppers though. They just make me light-headed.

Hime 05-16-2007 11:03 AM

Worth it -- in a long-term relationship, anyway. If I were single and just going out to look for guys, I'd be worried that an overflowing toy drawer might scare them away...

As a lube, as before off the shelf crap.

Cloud 05-17-2007 05:04 PM

spit makes lousy lube--drys too quickly.

Sincerely,

Lube Girl

Quoted from article in the link - "Don't douche. Just don't. Douching kills all the good flora and fauna that keeps your pussy healthy".
NEVER EVER douche??
Ladies.....do the majority of you prefer to retain all that good healthy flora and fauna FOREVER?? I am curious. I've heard this before, and it just sounds nasty to me. I do think that some women douche too often maybe, while others could (should) indulge in a douche a little more often (in my opinion).
Your opinions please? (I'd like ladies AND men's input!)
Thanks.....

Oh, puhleeze. The vagina is self-cleaning. It's not like your mouth, holding all kinds of particles in the teeth. The acid environment actually breaks down foreign materials and dead skin and it sloughs off to some degree. Because it's mucosa, it reabsorbs a lot of stuff that's been broken down already. IANAD but all mucosa does this to some extent. Douching removes natural lubricant and alters the pH, even if it's a balanced douche.

Nope, I don't douche. I have in the past, mostly for treatment reasons that interfere with my schedule.

busterb 05-19-2007 08:13 PM

Thought I was going to add to this, but think I'll pass. :bolt:

Cloud 05-19-2007 09:51 PM

no! douching is bad for you! It doesn't make you "cleaner" inside--that's just marketing. I suppose there might be "emergency" circumstances . . . if you use food items for lube.

lumberjim 05-19-2007 10:03 PM

how about gay men douching the ole poop chute?

Aliantha 05-19-2007 10:15 PM

douching the poop chute is not just for gay men you know lj

DucksNuts 05-19-2007 10:30 PM

Wow, i thought douching went out with legwarmers???

Never have, never will.

Self cleansing and thats the way it should be.

I looked at those up the butt shower heads.

Aliantha 05-20-2007 03:14 AM

douching is alive and well in the suburbs ducky. ;)

DucksNuts 05-20-2007 04:54 AM

Do you douche luv?

If so,

Why? What with?

Aliantha 05-20-2007 06:32 PM

I have although not recently. Usually if I've had a partner who liked the back door and I thought it might be on for the night I've done it as a courtesy really.

After all, who's going to do any rimming if it's a smelly rim? ;)

DucksNuts 05-20-2007 06:56 PM

Oh I didnt mean up ya kyberpass.

I agree totally with douching then, I meant up ya vagultz :)

Aliantha 05-20-2007 07:00 PM

Ah right. Well I haven't ever really worried about doing that part. I good flush with the shower head works pretty well I've found. I also got accidentally douched up the vag in a spa one time...then realized the full potential of those jets.

lumberjim 05-20-2007 07:07 PM

up yer pooper is usually an enema, no?

i only asked cuz of that time a guy traded in a Cadillac that had a trunk full of empty douche boxes and gay porn video boxes. i do mean full. it was bizarre.

Aliantha 05-20-2007 07:10 PM

I guess enema is the medical term? I think douching maybe refers to the term for the purposes of entertainment? lol

I don't really know though. That's just a guess.

Well, some of us take it as a challenge.

"Oh, silicone. How nice. But can it do THIS!"(no appropriate smiley found)
