piercehawkeye45 04-19-2007 12:42 AM

BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

I personally am not a big fan of White Castle but if you like it, eh, good for you.

wolf 04-19-2007 12:48 AM

Well, if we're confessing to embarrassing things ...

I shop at Wal-Mart.

Beestie 04-19-2007 01:03 AM

I love White Castle. I ate there when I lived in Scranton.

I love Krystal and Waffle House. I ate there when I lived in Atlanta.

Number of White Castles in DC: Zero
Number of Krystals in DC: Zero
Number of Waffle Houses in DC: Zero.

There is nowhere to eat in DC. No Where.

breakingnews 04-19-2007 01:27 AM

beestie, jump on AmTrak and scurry up to NYC Penn Station - there's a 24-hour White Castle a stone's throw from the train station. yes, that would be a damn expensive slider, but in times of need...

aren't there WaHos in Maryland? I swear I've seen them along 95 on my way to ATL ..

There is one in Bourbonais IL., about 70 miles north of Champain.

My entire wardrobe is Walmart. Apart from my cardi which is thrift shop. :D Oh, and I went upmarket to Payless for my sneakers. I so rock.

SadistSecret 04-19-2007 07:22 AM

About your White Castle fix, I Don't know how far you are from Davenport Iowa, but I heard they opened one up there not too long ago.

elSicomoro 04-19-2007 08:44 AM

White Castle is now the only fast food that I enjoy eating...the closest one is about 8 blocks away. :)

I remember when I first went to Philadelphia (September 1999), I was overjoyed that they had a few WC's in town...I lived in DC and we had none. When I moved up there the following year, there was only one left in the area--Palmyra, NJ. Then that one closed, and the next closest one was in New Brunswick, NJ...about 40 miles away.

I had Krystal a couple of times...the closest one to me used to be in Carbondale, IL (60 miles from Cape Girardeau, MO, where I lived at the time). Not bad, but a total WC rip-off, IMO.

I shop at Wal-Mart too...I don't like 'em, but their shit is cheap and they have my size in clothing.

Shawnee123 04-19-2007 09:18 AM

White Castle is primarily a guy thing. I mean, really. They're kind of gross. And you pay an extra ten cents or something for a postage stamp sized piece of cheese.

elSicomoro 04-19-2007 09:24 AM

Shut your hole, woman! Go bake me a pie!

;)

Shawnee123 04-19-2007 09:26 AM

I got your pie right here, syc.

monster 04-19-2007 09:28 AM

Steam-grilled? WTF? and Ew. They look nasty.

Ahhhh. But a taste that you'll never forget.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

It's all about the neon yellow-green pickle by the way.

LabRat 04-19-2007 10:01 AM

OMG. I must have one now. Bastards!!!

freshnesschronic 04-19-2007 10:28 AM

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SERIOUSLY WHAT'S WITH THE PICTURE. So there's one 70 miles away from me. That's no good, I'm a student with no car! Now I just have to wait 3 weeks until I go back to Chicago suburbs....for those delicious little morsels...those burgers are seriously da Best!

jinx 04-19-2007 10:35 AM

I have never eaten at a White Castle, Krystal or Waffle House. I recently tried Sonic for the first time.... threw most of it out. It was so bad the kids were actually pissed off. They had waited a long time, with much anticipation, while it was being built...

elSicomoro 04-19-2007 10:36 AM

*pictures the kids getting angry with Jinx and pelting her with Sonic food*

There's a White Castle within walking distance of my house. Never been in.

Then it's obvious that you have an undiagnosed mental disorder. :)

I'm not a big vegetable eater, and I can't stand pickles myself. But cucumbers are alright. *shrugs*

Clodfobble 04-19-2007 11:16 AM

I have never eaten at a White Castle or a Krystal, never even seen one.

I ate at a Waffle House once, once, thinking it would be something akin to IHOP. Oh how wrong I was. :greenface

Sonic has a fond place in my heart for their wonderful drinks and shakes and slushes. And their tater tots are good too. But all their burgers suck.

elSicomoro 04-19-2007 11:19 AM

I haven't eaten at a Waffle House in quite some time. The last time I did, I got violently ill and haven't been back since...that was 1995.

I agree with you on Sonic...I'm not as big of a fan of their food as I used to be.

And I live in a university town........

Fortunately, I'm only armed with dirty laundry and a puke bucket
...mind, I could probably do quite a bit of damage with those......

(son off school sick today)

freshnesschronic 04-19-2007 11:48 AM

I know Krystal is the south's version of White Castle, right? But I have no idea what Whaffle House is and how it's related to White Castle/Krystal.
There might have been a link to Whaffle House website but I'm too lazy to look for that previous post. :yelsick:

Shawnee123 04-19-2007 11:49 AM

Waffle House is where everyone goes to eat greasy breakfast food after they leave the bars. At 2 a.m. you will see all walks of life in there!

Weird Harold 04-19-2007 01:18 PM

Not the same, but it could do in a pinch.http://www.whitecastle.com/_pages/fr...state=Illinois

What? Frozen White Castles? What about the tasty freshness...oh, never mind.

pourbill 04-19-2007 01:33 PM

Not a big fast food guy but have always loved White Castles. Not Sonic. When you're on the road or pulling an all nighter Waffle House and Huddle House are great for steak and eggs with a side of waffles or pancakes, and decent coffee. Best between 3:00 and 6:00 AM. Re-energize!

You have to give your body a chance to adapt to the new... ummmm... stuff it hasn't figured out how to kill yet. Once your body gets used to it - it may take a couple trips (I'd bring a pail the first few times till you get your confidence going) you too can enjoy the acquired taste that is Waffle House.

freshnesschronic 04-19-2007 02:20 PM

Waffle House is kind of like Steak N Shake? Twilight hour food, that's what I would think of.

elSicomoro 04-19-2007 02:41 PM

I actually used to frequent Waffle House until that night in Memphis. :greenface

Waffle House is like a crappier Denny's, IMO. If there was a hierarchy of greasy spoons, I'd say it goes like this: your local run-down greasy spoon-->Waffle House-->Denny's-->your local decent greasy spoon-->IHOP or Bickford's-->your local "hip" diner.

I like Steak n' Shake, but they're kinda pricey.

freshnesschronic 04-19-2007 03:23 PM

Denny's is pretty good and cheap. So Waffle House either isn't pretty good or isn't cheap. I'll assume the first.

elSicomoro 04-19-2007 03:31 PM

Good assumption. :)

Perry Winkle 04-19-2007 04:16 PM

I once ate a slider in Reno, just to watch myself puke.

What blows my mind about White Castle is how they can exist in an area with good places to eat. I mean, in St. Louis there's a WC a couple blocks from Crown Candy Kitchen. Seriously, WTF?

elSicomoro 04-19-2007 04:37 PM

People like variety...and in that section of St. Louis, they need all the variety they can get.

Shawnee123 04-19-2007 04:55 PM

Strange. I've never been to our Waffle House at bar closing, but I have gone in for breakfast a couple times. I thought it was pretty good, for what it was. I was fascinated how the server would yell to the cook "Hash browns--scattered, chunked. 2 slices white toast. 3 eggs sunny side up." The cook never looked at or wrote down any of the orders. I asked him how he did it and he showed me he arranges a plate with condiments etc while listening to the order. For example. white toast might be designated by a thingy of grape jelly on the upper left section of the plate. Scattered hash browns might be a thingy of ketchup. It was pretty fun to watch.

footfootfoot 04-19-2007 07:33 PM

...Because being bad news is what we're all about
We went to White Castle and we got thrown out...

Was it cause your font is Arial instead of whatever this font is? :D

Perry Winkle 04-19-2007 08:22 PM

It's crazy isn't it?

monster 04-19-2007 08:48 PM

I still want to know wtf steam-grilling is? Steam=water, grill=flame. Incompatible, no? Are they putting the bloody things in a sauna?

Ibby 04-19-2007 09:26 PM

"Mommy, why do my pits smell like a krystal burger?"

I don't know but they are still delicious.

zippyt 04-20-2007 12:06 AM

they put a hood over the buns on a flat griddle and steam them with salt water , it makes a difference , and YES the pickel DOES matter !!!!!

I have had MANY adventures in waffle house after hours , inclouding getting flashed by a VERRRRY drunk chick , the Mississippi State Trooper ( Your in a LOT of Trouble BOY !!!!! ) that was in line of site just smiled and shook his head .
Later he asked if she was driveing , I told him " NO way SIR !!! She is TOOOOOO wasted !!!!!!!"

cowhead 04-22-2007 11:45 PM

do they have huddle houses in dc? basically the same thing.. weird thing here in carrollton, is that there is a wafflehouse and a huddle house right next door to one another.. I keep wondering if they have fights at the end of the night... NO! MY crappy omlette is better than YOUR crappy omlette!

and yeah... since moving down here I have started shopping at walmart again... but only when Kmart (since they still have one here) doesn't have what I'm looking for.

and I am growing fond of krystal burgers.... and checkers... yeesh... weird thing is that the sonics down here don't have the fried pork T (one of my few indulgences in regards to pork) weird thing about that is that they would sell better than hotcakes.. pork? fried? georgia? seems like a no-brainer...

freshnesschronic 04-23-2007 01:31 PM

Harold and Kumar is a great movie. A movie about glorifying White Castle with drug usage, hilarity and nudity? Brilliant! :D
