Absolutely gorgeous - worthy of framing
I also love the utilitarian title - you kept the beauty for the actual photos :) |
I'd like to see a picture of a person swimming in that many baby humans...
I smell a photoshop coming. Too bad Ike Is My Cat doesn't post anymore...his photoshops were legendary.
Our place is swamped in tree frogs. This is evidence of thier passing in the morning.

That's really cool Merc. Do you have any pics of the frogs themselves?
Wow - I only got a red cross last time, glad I've seen the picture.

Frog Army Knife?
I will try to post some pics after work on Sunday. All of them are green and brown about the size of a half-dollar coin, slimey. At night the sound is so loud you almost can't hear yourself talk.
I grew up next to a creek. I love that sound, of noisy things that live in wet places.
I took video also, when I took these pics, just for the sound. Jim is still trying to get it off the camera though - might not happen. :(
When I was growing up, the creek would be filled with little frog eggs. Now, I never see them. What happened to my frogs?
Maybe acid rain.
When I was a kid, we had a creek in our back yard too. No frogs for some reason, but toads. We used to catch the eggs and watch the polliwogs hatch. On time, one of my dad's students was over visiting. He was a wealthy Iranian with ties to the Shah, who was in power then. Anyway, he wore expensive clothes. Nice guy. Very friendly. I had caught a bunch of polliwogs in the cooler we kept on our back steps for the milk delivery, and was carrying it over to him to show him. Somehow I tripped or something, and I dumped most of this cooler full of scummy water and toad eggs and polliwogs all over his pants and expensive shoes. That was the only time I ever saw him mad, but he soon recovered. And was nice again. He heads an oil exploration company now. |

Frogs all over the world are dieing off in huge numbers. Of course both the greenies and the global warmers were all over it, and very disappointed to find it was a virus.
Ohhh that rocks!! I wanna live in Philly now!!
C'mon over, just don't bring any cane toads.
Evil bastards they are!!!
There was one found last week the size of a mans head! |

If you look in the muck here where I'm looking you can see white globs. Anyone know what these are?
http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL162.../251269864.jpg I was checking out the clear globs, that I at first thought were the old tadpole eggs, but on closer inspection realized that some still have something growing inside: Spotted Salamanders. http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL162.../251269870.jpg zoomed in http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL162.../251269876.jpg Some have hatched but I couldn't find them http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL162.../251269878.jpg Another shot of me trying not to get me ass wet... http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL162.../251269854.jpg White glob http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL162.../251274167.jpg |
And this guy was just cool looking...
http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL162.../251269838.jpg |
They are fantastic, Jinx.
Kinda spoiled the illusion for me though, here I thought you had trekked out to a isolated little pond....and then I see civilisation in the background. |
Aw, sorry ducks, lol.... it's just a puddle, not remote pond.
Normally we do trek around for miles when we're there (French Creek), but we hadn't planned on being there at all yesterday. |
You do realize you're on the hook for the full life-cycle of these guys now?
That's the plan... it's a home school project for the boy. He got it in his head yesterday that they might have sprouted legs and scarfered, so we had to stop by and make sure there weren't any significant changes since Saturday.
How awesome a Mom are you?:)
(I enjoy it as much as they do though) |
