Colorado Pictures

This was taken with a Nikon D70, just off of I-70, west of Denver, at the Chief Hosa exit.
It has lost some color and resolution down-converting from the original 6-MB to 117-kB. |
Oh my God, that's amazing. Wow. The oranges!
|
Incredible! The Goddess showing off again.

Those are mostly pine cones. It's too cold here for oranges. |

This was also taken with a Nikon D70. Unfortunately, I don't have the EXIF information, so I don't know what the settings were.
I think that the bird is a Broadtail hummingbird. |
Excellent. :thumb2:
|
Thanks.
I just noticed that the hummingbird is getting nothing but air. |
Fox sitting

We don't see this particular fox around anymore, which is too bad because he was good at posing for photos.

This is one of those real nature shots, one you might see in National Geographic, predator and prey, a fox, sniffing a rat. As you can see, the rat was very nervous, but it turned out ok.

Test of photo hosting site Fotki.com
http://images21.fotki.com/v846/photo...ndfence-vi.jpg larger size. |
oh my gosh the pictures are SO beautiful! Love that horizon shot, the fox and the hummingbird. btw is that your feeder?
I have a nector question if you don't mind. I'll pm. |
skysidhe -- Thanks. That last picture is just a test of a photo hosting site so that I don't take up too much of the Cellar server space. If you click the "Larger size" text, a new window will open with a bigger view.
If you look closely at the feeder in post #5, you'll see that it's acting as a lense, inverting a few of the Ponderosa Pine trees. Feel free to send a PM. |
I can't connect via the sunflower :(
Would like to see some more of Colorado though, having seen your woody abode! |
SG -- you're right. It worked last night, but the resolution changed between the first time I looked at it and the second time, so that might have been a temporary storage area.
Or maybe Fotki is really just a Russian phishing site, and they're stealing my pictures. |
Wow. We've got foxes here, but I've never seen a live one. They'd never sit still for you like that .
Cool pics. |

Here's another picture, which I took last week, of that same fox (he's returned after being missing for a few months). I had just raked the dirt, so it was soft.
This fox (which we call Zorro) has come into the house a few times, and I've had to tell him, "You're not supposed to be in here. Go wait outside," which he does. There are also one or two females, which are much smaller and more skittish. |
Holy shit, HLJ, you must live near me! I am familiar with where that sunset shot came from.
Gorgeous pics. Thank you for sharing. |
case -- if I ever get around to posting in the 'commute photos' thread I think you'll recognize a lot of the shots (Tiny Town, Dinosaur Ridge, Red Rocks, Morrison, Mt. Falcon, and The Fort).

Sorry
When I inserted the last photo I was at work, where I have a large monitor (24" widescreen), and the width of the picture was OK (1200 pixel). Now I'm looking at it from home on a regular 19" monitor and realize that the picture is too wide. In future I'll restrict photos to 1024 pixel wide.
Actually, almost every picture I've posted in this thread is too wide. Maybe I should use 800 p? |
Put up a parking lot
I had the driveway, and the dirt area where I took the fox pictures, paved last year. It's nice not having to worry about bringing mud into the house every day, but the foxes don't come around any more.
It may be just coincidence. That little stone wall is also gone. |
HLJ paved paradise and Put up a parking lot...
|
You had that fox there all that time and just took pictures of him?
You're right. You don't need that knife. (Well, maybe in Haiti you will.) |
That fox was very useful - he kept away the rubber rats. Now the place is overrun.
By the way, I have that knife sitting right by my monitor. I sharpen it every day. I'd send it out, if I had an address. |
need mine? I'll take it :)
|
That's foot's squirrel-on-a-tree skinnin' knife.

maybe that's a bird belch?
|
I just remembered, that wasn't a bird feeder - that was the time a hummingbird stole my bubblicious.
|
Hah!
