Celebrity Death Pool 2007

Since there's already been a list by the lovely Sundae Girl for 2007, I guess we better start a dedicated thread.

Sundae 12-27-2006 08:58 AM

Quite right too - blame Christmas over-indulgence on me not having the sense to think of it myself!

Fidel Castro
Margaret Thatcher
Nicole Ritchie
Patrick Moore
Norman Wisdom
Mickey Rooney
Frank Carson
Zsa Zsa Gabor
Gaddafi
Islom Karimov

The celebs let me down last year, so I've featured politicians more heavily this year. I feel I can at least count on Castro (and how often do you get to say that?)

RichUK 12-27-2006 02:56 PM

Here we go, threw a couple of wild cards in there for good measure.

Margaret Thatcher
Dick Cheney
George H Bush
Ronnie Biggs
Kirk Douglas
Holly Johnson
Pete Doherty
Nelson Mandela
Fidel Castro
Kirk Kerkorian

JayMcGee 12-27-2006 06:43 PM

sticking my neck out (literally)....

Prince Phillip

DanaC 12-28-2006 04:45 AM

Oooooh. Everybody's favourite fascist grandad.

Madman 12-28-2006 10:46 AM

Saddam Hussein! Or is that a gimme?

Radar 12-29-2006 08:36 PM

Death penalty deaths don't count. Milton Friedman died last year so I think I won, but we'll have to figure it out.

Let me see who I choose this year...

Abe Vigoda
Michael J. Fox
Billy Graham
Charlton Heston
Muhammad Ali
Mickey Rooney
Peter Falk
Peter O'Toole
Fidel Castro
Andy Griffith

Radar 12-30-2006 12:13 PM

Saddam Hussein is dead today, but he didn't count.

lumberjim 12-30-2006 12:32 PM

John Madden
Leonard Nimoy
Terrel Owens
Steven Hawking
Muhammed Ali

Sheldonrs 12-30-2006 12:38 PM

I'm gonna go with Betty Ford on this one. The spouse usually dies within a year or two of the other, expecially after a long marriage.

I'd put money on Nancy Reagan as well.

Paris Hilton is on my wish list though.

Shawnee123 01-02-2007 02:09 PM

Jerry Springer will be killed by a crazed fan.

Lindsay Lohan will be fatally injured in a car wreck on her way to an AA meeting.

You heard it here first, folks.

Spexxvet 01-02-2007 03:11 PM

1 Mary Kate Olson
2 Charles Barkley
3 Charlton Heston
4 Mel Gibson
5 Ian McKellen
6 Rush Limbaugh
7 Engelbert Humperdink
8 Spike Lee
9 George H W Bush
10 Fidel Castro

BrianR 01-02-2007 06:27 PM

Spexx, is that list a prediction or just wishful thinking?

Spexxvet 01-03-2007 08:15 AM

I wouldn't mind Chucky Heston and Rush biting the big one, but the others don't move me one way or the other. It seems that who dies is pretty arbitrary, so I went fairly random, with some emphasis on poor lifestyle choices and poor health. You never know....

Urbane Guerrilla 01-09-2007 04:56 AM

(to Easter Hymn) "Saddam Hus-sein is dead to-da-ay, Fa la la la la, la la la la la..."

monster 02-08-2007 08:29 PM

No-one had Anna Nicole Smith, then?

Michael Jackson's the ringer on mine. He was last year too. Perhaps it's just wishful thinking?

footfootfoot 02-08-2007 09:46 PM

Yeah, ANS would have been the payout of all payouts.

Radar 02-09-2007 08:41 AM

Wow, Anna Nicole would have been worth 61 points!

monster 09-06-2007 07:08 AM

No-one got Pavarotti either.

I couldn't find the dead thread, so I thought I'd resuccitate this one.

71, pancreatic cancer. It was a good life, though, by all accounts

Radar 09-06-2007 10:54 AM

He was a rockstar in opera. I'd be surprised if I live to 71

Crimson Ghost 09-06-2007 04:23 PM

01. Chris Benoit
02. Ian Richardson
03. Roscoe Lee Browne
04. Kitty Carlisle Hart
05. Jack Valenti
06. Charles Nelson Reilly
07. Joel Siegel
08. Tammy Faye Bakker Mesner
09. Ingmar Bergman
10. Merv Griffin

Radar 09-06-2007 09:34 PM

Sorry chief, you've got to make your pics by Jan 1 on the year. Naming people who have already died this year doesn't count.

Crimson Ghost 09-07-2007 01:07 AM

So...

You're saying...

I didn't win?

Dagnabbit.

I guess I'll try again next year.

spudcon 09-12-2007 09:33 PM

Osama Bin Laden
Fidel Castro
Jimmy Carter
Robert Byrd
John Warner
Larry King
Check the date today, and remember who predicted it first, except Castro, who's a shoe in.

That's what we all thought about Ariel Sharon. :right:

BrianR 12-02-2007 01:08 AM

Did anyone pick Evel Knievel?

He died yesterday.

I never even gave him a thought!

Urbane Guerrilla 12-02-2007 02:00 AM

Surprised me too -- didn't know he was sick.

glatt 12-03-2007 11:17 AM

Speaking of Evel, when I mentioned in front of my kids, they were all "Who's Evel Knievel?" So I had to whisk them off to YouTube to educate them. Now my little boy is really pumped about Evel Knievel and keeps talking about him, with a wild look in his eye. Maybe I screwed up a little there. Bad father.

wolf 12-10-2007 11:28 PM

I'm not playing, but I was looking through a slideshow of celebrity dead for this year.

I found out that Marcel Marceau died in September.

I hadn't heard anything.

monster 12-10-2007 11:29 PM

*groan*

LJ 12-10-2007 11:33 PM

when i was a kid, i had an evel kanevel ripcord motorcycle. it was awesome. i thought he was long dead.

when do we pick for 08?

lookout123 12-10-2007 11:39 PM

dude, i had the same motorcycle.

wolf 12-10-2007 11:50 PM

That's too cool. I had a couple SSP racers, but never the Evel Knieval.

classicman 12-11-2007 07:42 AM

Ripcord huh? I thought they only had the stand with the crank, didn't know they had a rip cord version. I had a Smash Up Derby car with one of those plastic rip cords.

lookout123 12-11-2007 09:18 AM

i know they had both kinds. i had the rip cord and my cousin had the crank kind. he hated me for it.

in retrospect he might have hated me because i wouldn't let him use mine and he would grind his knuckles to hamburger turning that crank on the cement.

Spexxvet 01-03-2008 10:55 AM

Nobody paid attention!

Wow, I can't believe I got 0. Also 88 points is very impressive. Excellent score Crimson Ghost. We should all agree to kick in $5 or $10 this year to the winner. And let's have a cutoff date for getting the picks in.
