8/4/2006: Tree frog declares squatting rights
http://cellar.org/2006/squatter1.jpg
This little fella is far too proud of himself. http://cellar.org/2006/squatter2.jpg xoB finds these taken in Cary, NC, of the mighty tree frog taking over residence in a bird house. We don't want to consider who would win in a fight if a bluebird wants right of return. http://cellar.org/2006/squatter3.jpg Because it's a beaut! http://cellar.org/2006/squatter4.jpg The photog thoughtfully provided a timeline of the activity. |
I can go home happy now, what a warm and fluffy Friday IotD! (Or cool, damp & wriggly, whatever)
I'd put a pink birdhouse in my back yard if I thought I'd get a little green friend like that! Is it just me, or do all bright green animals look fresh and tasty? I often contemplate eating Aphids because of their colour.... |
In pic number two he looks like Mr. Burns saying, "eX-hactly..."
Sundae, you crack me up. |
They do sound pretty good when you spell color with a "u".

He can't stay there too long. If he doesn't have ample moisture, he'll soon die. I learned that the hard way as a child. Hard for me. Fatal for the frog. Lord forgive me.
Very nice pics. You can't go wrong on Fridays here. |

Hound Dog. SOUND OFF! Tree Frog. SOUND OFF! Hound Dog, Coon Town, Tree Frog. (you ain't got no friends on your left, that's right...) |
When the photographer posted that timeline picture, he said Lil Kermit was back in the box the next morning. :flycatch:

I would think so, although I am no expert. They need moisture and I'm sure they get a lot from dew, fog, etc. As a child I tried to keep one in a small cage. He lasted about two days.
When I clean my birdhouses each Winter, they are really dry and dusty. |
According to those timestamps, the little guy doesn't exactly move fast.
|
He is a wanderer, not the type to settle down....a heartbreaker.
|
a young maverick who won't settle down......
|
Who is the tall, dark stranger there?
Maverick is the name. Ridin’ the trail to who knows where, Luck is his companion. Gamblin’ is his game. |
FLASH!! Hot off the wires. Mr Tree Frog has not only extended his lease, he's moved in a Ho frog. :D
|
That should solve the moisture problem......

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa......hold on there....!!!!!! What's with this "double standard" crap???? He is just a guy, but she is a ho? Sigh.....:p |
She moved into the established residence of a bachelor.
If she had grabbed a cab before the milkman came around, she'd have been clean. But now, all the neighbors know, so she's a Ho. Mr Tree Frog, in response to the neighbors, said, "Rubbit". |
It's and epidemic.
A man is Caskill, NY, claims this little guy has used this birdhouse as a summer residence for the last three years. |
